Aiden’s POV:

Seeing Stephanie’s reaction when she found out Caden had left stirred a feeling of Jealousy within me. I couldn’t help but wonder how much she cared for him. Was it possible that she liked him more than I thought? The idea gnawed at the edges of my mind, leaving a bitter taste.

Then there was Caden himself. He didn’t even tell me, his twin brother, that he was leaving. That stung more than I wanted to admit. We’ve always been close, sharing everything, but this time he chose silence.

It hurt, but I guess he thought it was for the best. Maybe it really was. Things would return to normal now or at least as normal as they could be given our circumstances. There was no time to dwell on his departure. We had a mission, and that mission was to train Stephanie. She needed to be strong enough to handle the rejection when the time came, so we could sever this mate bond and move forward.
