BELLA.

If you’d asked me a year ago what my twenties would look like, I would have painted you a very different picture. Late nights at graduate school. A modest apartment in the city, where the windows stuck in the winter and the neighbors played their music too loud. Maybe a job in marketing, or design, something creative where I could use my brain.

What I would not have described was this: sitting at my parents’ dining table with a stack of unpaid invoices tucked neatly between the breadbasket and the butter dish, pretending not to see my mother’s hands tremble every time she reached for her glass of water.

The room looked beautiful, as it always did polished mahogany floors, crystal chandelier glowing like a crown of fire above us. My mother never allowed appearances to falter, not even now. Especially not now. But I could feel the panic vibrating beneath the surface, sharp and relentless, like a drumbeat no one could silence.

My father cleared his throat, the sound dragging me out of my thoughts. “Bella,” he said slowly, carefully, as though every word had been rehearsed, “you know how bad things have gotten.”

I swallowed hard, I did know… I wasn’t a child anymore. The family company, our legacy, our pride, and or identity was collapsing. I’d overheard enough late-night phone calls, seen enough documents left carelessly on the counter, to piece it together. Investors had pulled out and debts had mounted. The once-golden name we carried had turned into a weight dragging us down.

“I know,” I whispered, my eyes fixed on the silver fork resting on the linen beside my plate. “I know the company is in trouble.”

“In trouble,” my father repeated, as if tasting the phrase. His lips pressed together. “It’s more than that. We’re weeks away from bankruptcy. The board is restless and the employees are nervous. If we don’t act now, the name will be ruined forever.”

My mother reached across the table, touching his wrist briefly before turning to me. “But there’s a way out, Bella. A chance to save everything.”

I lifted my gaze. “What kind of chance?”

“The Blackwoods have offered to step in,” my father said.

The Blackwoods? Even I couldn’t keep the shock from flickering across my face. They weren’t just wealthy, they were powerful, untouchable, a dynasty. Our families had crossed paths at galas and charity events over the years, but theirs was a world we admired from a distance, never close enough to touch.

“They’re willing to provide the capital we need,” my father continued. “Enough to restructure, pay off debts, and stabilize the company. It would restore confidence, protect jobs, and secure the future.” My stomach clenched. I already knew what was coming next.

“But…” I said softly, waiting for the catch. My mother’s lips parted, but she hesitated. Her eyes flicked to my father’s, and it was he who finally said it.

“They want an alliance, a permanent one. Through marriage.” The word landed like a blow. Marriage! The room spun for a moment. I gripped the edge of the table, forcing air into my lungs.

“You can’t be serious,” I whispered.

“This is serious,” my father snapped, sharper than I’d expected. Then, softer: “This is the only way.”

I shook my head. “No. You’re asking me to what? Marry some stranger just to secure a deal?”

“Not a stranger,” my mother murmured. “A partner. Someone who will ensure the company survives.”

I laughed, but it was bitter, brittle. “A partner? You make it sound like I’ll be joining a board meeting, not signing my life away.”

“Bella,” my father said, his voice lowering into that heavy, authoritative tone he reserved for moments when his word was law. “Think of what’s at stake. The company isn’t just ours. Hundreds of employees depend on us, their families and their futures. If the company falls, they fall too. Do you want that on your conscience?”

“And what about my future? You seem to care for other people than you care for your own daughter.”

“Bella, it’s not like that. Think of it like you are doing your mom and dad a favor, please.” My mom said with pleading eyes. I didn’t like that look in her face, it makes me feel guilty even though I knew I wasn’t.

I pressed my lips together. “At least tell me who it is,” I demanded. “Who am I supposed to marry?” My parents exchanged a glance, and unease slid down my spine like ice.

“You don’t need to know that yet,” my father said finally. “What matters is that the arrangement is being handled. The Alexanders have already agreed. It will all be settled soon.”

“You’re joking,” I breathed. “You expect me to agree to this without even knowing who he is?”

“It isn’t about him,” my mother said, her voice breaking on the words. “It’s about saving everything we’ve built. Everything we are.”

My chair scraped loudly against the floor as I pushed back and stood. “Everything we are? What about who I am? Doesn’t that matter?”

My father’s expression was carved from stone. “You will do this, Bella. For the company and for the family. There is no other option.”

Later, in the solitude of my bedroom, I paced the length of the rug until my legs ached. My reflection in the tall mirror looked pale, hollow-eyed, as though some essential part of me had already been stripped away.

Getting married to someone I didn’t know. To save a company I hadn’t built. The weight of it pressed down on me until my chest ached. I thought of running of packing a bag and disappearing into the night, letting the company crumble without me. But I couldn’t do it. Not when the collapse would take so many innocent people down with it.

Tears burned my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I would do this. Not because I wanted to and not because I believed in fairy tales or happy endings. But because I had no choice.

ALEX'S POV.“Let’s get a divorce.”Those four words landed like a blade to my chest. Sharp, precise and fatal.I felt them slice through the thin layer of self-control I had left, but I didn’t flinch. I couldn’t. If I showed even the smallest crack, everything I’d been holding back every feeling, every memory and every weakness would spill out in front of her. And I couldn’t afford that.So I forced my face to stay cold, my voice flat, even though my heart was thundering like it wanted to break free.“Are you done?” I asked her, pretending like her words didn’t just wreck me.Bella was crying quietly, desperately and painfully. And God… it killed me. I hated seeing tears on her face. I hated knowing that I caused them. I hated that part of me wanted to pull her into my arms and tell her not to leave me. But I didn’t deserve that kind of comfort. I didn’t deserve her.So I swallowed the lump in my throat, shoved every emotion down my spine, and said what I knew would hurt her even more

  • 90 DAYS WITH BELLA.   The Breaking Point.

BELLA’S POV.I woke up to someone gently shaking my shoulder. My eyes fluttered open to find Marissa standing over me, her face calm but a little uneasy.“Good evening, Mrs. Blackwood,” she said softly. “Mr. Blackwood is back… he asked me to wake you. He’s waiting for you in the bedroom.”I blinked a few times, confused. “Did something happen?”Marissa hesitated, glancing toward the stairs. “He didn’t say. But he looked… upset.” Upset? My heart skipped.I sat up immediately, brushing my hair back. “Thank you, Marissa,” I murmured, though my voice came out shaky. She nodded politely and left me there, my chest already tightening with worry.Something told me this wasn’t going to be just another conversation. No… this time, something was wrong.I stood up, straightening my shirt, and stared at the stairs for a few seconds, trying to calm the racing of my heart. Then, almost under my breath, I whispered to myself, “No more running, Bella. Today, you’re going to ask him. You deserve the t

  • 90 DAYS WITH BELLA.   The Rule She Broke.

ALEX’S POV.The headache hit me like a hammer the moment I stepped into my office. The dim light slicing through the blinds didn’t help either. It was one of those mornings where even breathing felt like punishment for the night before. I should’ve stopped drinking after the second glass, but stopping had never been one of my strong suits. Especially not when I’m trying to forget something or someone. The quiet hum of the air conditioner filled the silence, the only sound that kept me company as I sat behind my desk, a half-finished report glowing on my laptop screen. I’d been staring at it for nearly an hour, pretending to work, but all I’d managed to do was re-read the same sentence ten times. My head throbbed with every heartbeat, my stomach twisted, and yet, the only thing I could think about was Bella.A month and a half. That’s how long it had been since we got married. And every single day since, I’d found myself caught between two worlds the one where I wanted to love her, and

  • 90 DAYS WITH BELLA.   The Forbidden Room.

I went back downstairs, standing in front of it again. My reflection stared back at me in the shiny doorknob, and I pressed my hand flat against the wood, feeling the stillness behind it.Every instinct I had told me this room was connected to Sophia. Maybe she once stayed here. Maybe she left something behind. Or maybe… this was where Alex kept the memories he couldn’t bear to face. “I’ll find out one day,” I whispered to the door, my voice soft but certain. “No matter what it takes.”Then I turned away, forcing myself to walk back to the living room pretending the secret behind that door wasn’t already living rent-free in my mind.I sat in the living room long after midnight, the faint hum of the air conditioner filling the silence Alex left behind. The TV was still on, some random movie playing, but I wasn’t watching it. My eyes kept drifting down the hallway toward the forbidden room.It felt like it was alive, like the air around it was thicker somehow. Every time I walked past

  • 90 DAYS WITH BELLA.   Curiosity And Secrets.

BELLA’S POV.The next morning, sunlight poured softly through the tall windows, slipping past the golden curtains and resting against my face. My eyes fluttered open, and for a few seconds, I forgot where I was the lavish suite, the scent of leather and cedarwood, the heavy silence that had settled after the chaos of last night. Then it hit me the gala, Sophia, the wine, and the look in Alex’s eyes. The anger, the shock and the pain. I turned slowly to my side, half expecting him to be there, but the sheets beside me were already cold. He’d been up early or maybe he hadn’t slept at all.I sat up, brushing my messy hair back, and let out a slow breath. “Okay, Bella,” I muttered to myself, “pretend everything is normal. Don’t make it weird.”Downstairs, the sound of clinking glass and low music filled the living room. When I walked in, I found Alex standing by the counter, already dressed in a perfectly tailored black shirt and slacks. His sleeves were rolled up, showing his watch and t

  • 90 DAYS WITH BELLA.   Ghosts In The Room.

ALEX’S POV.“You have no right being happy after what you did!” The voice hit me before the wine did.A full glass of red splashed across my suit, staining the white fabric like blood. The ballroom fell silent instantly music dying mid-note, laughter cutting off, every pair of eyes turning toward us.I stood frozen, staring at her. Sophia Grant! Of all the people I expected to see tonight… she was the last. She looked exactly the same sharp, beautiful, eyes burning with fury but time had carved pain into her expression, a bitterness that ran deep. Her hair was tied up in a clean knot, her black gown hugging her slender frame. Her voice trembled, but her glare never wavered. For a second, I forgot how to breathe. My throat tightened as the memories came rushing in screeching tires, shattered glass, a scream that still haunted me when I closed my eyes. I shut the thought down before it could drag me further.“Alex?” Bella’s voice was soft beside me and uncertain. “Do you know her?”Soph
