Mia's POV

I couldn't believe my eyes as I stared at the pregnancy test in my trembling hands. The positive sign that had filled me with hope and excitement just moments ago had now vanished, leaving behind a stark, empty space. Tears welled up in my eyes as the reality of what had happened sank in—I was no longer pregnant.

The shock of it all rendered me momentarily immobile, my mind unable to comprehend the magnitude of this loss. How could something so precious, something that had brought us so much joy, be taken away in an instant? I felt a profound sense of grief wash over me, the weight of the loss threatening to suffocate me.

"Nathaniel," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. I needed him. I needed his strength, his comforting presence. With shaky legs, I made my way to the bedroom, where I knew he would be, working late as usual. The room felt suffocating, the walls closing in on me, mirroring the overwhelming sense of loss that consumed my being.
