Two days after the national business summit, the week finally came to an end. Mitch Jones and Lucille travelled quietly to the Downland Pack.

To stay unnoticed, they came separately. Mitch on his own, Lucille on her own.

That evening, Mitch left his car parked far away from the pack entrance. His aide and driver waited in it while he continued on foot.

He wore plain denim pants, a simple t-shirt, a face cap, and even a cheap wristwatch. Everything about his appearance designed to hide his real identity and social status.

But one thing could never be hidden. His wolf. His alpha aura still surrounded him, sharp and undeniable.

Lucille was already waiting near the entrance when he called to say he was close. As soon as they met, they walked side by side toward Pa Wilcox’s house.

Along the way, the wolves of the Downland Pack reacted immediately to Mitch’s presence. Some dropped low on their bellies, their eyes filled with instinctive respect. Mitch smiled warmly, patting their backs as t

Hours later, they reached the creek, just as Pa Wilcox had said.At first sight, Lucille froze. The water was wide, rushing with a force that roared in her ears. The current was fierce, crashing against sharp rocks that jutted up like hungry teeth. Fallen tree branches floated by, spinning helplessly before being dragged under. The spray of water reached them even before they stepped close.Lucille’s throat went dry. “Mitch…” she whispered. “This looks… deadly.”Mitch’s eyes narrowed as he studied the flow. He had fought elites, faced councils, even stood in battlefields, but this creek made his gut twist. The water was alive, dangerous, almost daring them to step in.Lucille’s wolf whimpered inside her, pulling back. Her palms were clammy. What if the current take them? What if they never come out?“We can go back,” Lucille said quickly, her voice shaky. “Maybe there’s another way.”“No,” Mitch replied firmly. “Pa Wilcox was clear. The creek is the only passage.”“But… what if it’s

Lucille nodded quickly. “He’s in the sitting room. He wants to see you.”Louis blinked hard, as if he had misheard. “The High Councilor?”“Yes,” Lucille said firmly. Then she added, almost in a whisper, “My mate.”Louis’s throat tightened. “He… he wants to see me?” His voice trembled with disbelief and panic.“Yes. He wants to meet my brother,” she repeated.Louis shook his head in shock, his voice rising in protest. “And you didn’t tell me you were coming with him?”“It just happened,” Lucille replied impatiently, tugging at his arm toward the door. She couldn’t risk him asking too many questions. She would never mention Pa Wilcox or the Tribunal.“You should have at least texted me,” Louis muttered, refusing to budge. How could she just walk into the house with such a powerful man without warning? He would have prepared himself, braced for it.“And Mom?” he asked nervously.“She saw him already,” Lucille said quickly. “But I told her he’s your friend.”“What—how did he become my—”

The summit was being broadcast live across the country.Inside his private office, Edward Jones sat glued to the television screen. His jaw tightened as he watched Lucille Clinton standing so polished, her voice bold, her words piercing with power.“She should have been mine,” Edward hissed, his fists clenching.Anger boiled in his veins. With a roar, he swept the files from his desk, throwing them to the floor. He grabbed a glass of whiskey and hurled it against the wall. It shattered into pieces.“How could she stand there!” Edward growled, pacing back and forth like a beast trapped in a cage. The door opened. His friend Mark walked in, his face hardening when he saw the chaos.“What is this madness?” Mark frowned.Edward pointed at the television screen. “Look at her!” he spat.Mark turned, his eyes landing on Lucille. She stood at the podium, her shoulders straight, her voice carrying with authority. She didn’t look like an omega. She looked like a queen.Mark’s blood ran cold. “

“Scan my invite, please,” she said firmly, her voice steady. “Or isn’t that your job?”The security guard’s face darkened. “How dare you speak to us like that? You’re just an omega!” his words dripped with contempt.Lucille didn’t flinch. “Then should I return and inform the boss of Norrcom that I was denied access?” she asked boldly. At the mention of Norrcom, both guards froze. Their eyes flicked to each other, uncertainty flashing across their faces. Everyone knew the boss of Norrcom Allied Solutions. The third-ranked man in the country. The High Councilor himself. And unlike most elites, he had no prejudice against omegas. No wonder, then, an omega was standing here to represent his firm.Without another word, they snatched the invite from her and scanned it. A beep of approval sounded and they opened the path.Lucille stepped inside the summit hall. Just as she expected, whispers rippled through the crowd like wildfire. Heads turned, eyes lingered. Some shocked, some disgusted,

Two days later, on Friday evening, Lucille was packing her bag when the Director, Mr. Kay Stewart, walked into her office."I'm sorry this is coming late," Kay said briskly as he shut the door behind him. He held out a letter.Lucille frowned as she accepted it."You will be representing Norrcom in the annual business summit next week," he announced. Her eyes widened. She tore open the envelope and read the contents quickly."But, Mrs. Grace Doyle has been preparing for this for weeks," Lucille said carefully."Not anymore," Kay replied. "She got a call earlier today that her father collapsed."His voice was calm but firm. "An hour ago, she confirmed he’s in critical condition. As his only surviving child, she’s staying in the hospital. She may not make it."Lucille blinked, shaking her head. "Then find someone else."She knew what the annual summit meant. A gathering of powerful firms, politicians, and high-ranking elites. It was the kind of gathering where omegas like her were not
