It had been three days since Daniel spoke to the private investigator. Three long, exhausting days of waiting, of combing through every possible lead, of calling in every favor. Daniel and his right-hand man, Richard, had worked themselves ragged, keeping their focus fixed on one single goal — finding Freya. The investigator’s words still echoed in Daniel’s mind, each passing hour adding to the restless fire in his chest.

Richard had barely slept either. He stayed close, steady, handling the underbelly of the work: the calls, the meetings, the bribing of reluctant mouths. Where Daniel carried the weight of responsibility, Richard carried the dirty details, but they both bore the same frustration which was no breakthrough, not yet.

While they fought their silent battle to reach her, in another part of the city Logan sat in a dimly lit room, his mind haunted with the past events.

He hadn’t come to terms with what had happened, with what he’d seen — Freya was alive, and within reach. Fo

Freya had been living in fear for the past few days, each hour dragging her closer to a fate she couldn’t escape. Today was the last day before Logan would take her to the Northridge pack. Her heart pounded every time she thought about it. Once she was inside Northridge, she knew she would never come out. No one who belonged to Logan’s pack ever walked out freely—especially not a breeder. She sat at the edge of the bed, her hands trembling as she tried to fold her clothes. She wasn’t packing because she wanted to. Logan had ordered it, and refusing wasn’t an option. Tears ran down her face silently, soaking into her sleeves as she whispered prayers for a miracle. She didn’t know what kind of miracle could save her now, but she prayed all the same. The door opened suddenly, making her flinch. Kia walked in with that smug confidence that never seemed to leave his face. Logan was in the middle of organizing some things, preparing for the journey, but the moment Kia spoke, everything came

Mia had been sitting stiffly in the visitor’s chair, her eyes darting between Daniel’s calm face and the faint glow of the monitors. She had been biting her lip, rehearsing her words, until she finally blurted, fumbling over her own voice.“Daniel, you need to make sure Freya is fired from your company. At all cost.”The bluntness of it hung in the room. Daniel didn’t even flinch. He said no words, no acknowledgment. His silence stretched, cold and unyielding like no one had said anything.Mia’s irritation bubbled. She reached for his arm, tugging it lightly at first, then harder, desperate to force some reaction out of him. “Daniel, do you hear me?” she pressed, her voice trembling with impatience. His eyes shifted at last, sharp and cutting. “Let me be, Mia.”Her brows knitted. “You’ve changed. Don’t you see it? Ever since that girl came into the picture, you’re not the same. She’s doing something to you. I know she is. You don’t look at me the way you used to. You don’t even—”She

DANIEL:The steady beeping of the heart monitor was the only sound in the whitewashed hospital room. Daniel lay propped against the pillows, his chest still aching from the bruises that covered him. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw flashes of what happened—the men with eyes that glowed unnaturally, and Freya’s terrified face as Logan dragged her away.He didn’t understand what had happened. He didn’t understand who those men really were. All he knew was that they weren’t ordinary. No human could move like that, strike with such force, or radiate such raw power.Nicole sat at his bedside, her hand gently adjusting the blanket across his lap. Her touch was soft, but her eyes kept flicking toward him, searching his face for answers.“You’ve barely said a word since they brought you in,” she murmured. “Daniel… I need you to tell me. What happened out there? Where's Freya? I hope she's okay?” She asked, her voice barely audible.Daniel sighed, his throat dry. He shifted slightly, grim

Alpha Logan’s footsteps echoed down the corridor as he left the room. Anger was solidly etched on his face, his back rigid as though carved from stone. Theodore remained behind in the sitting room, his chest heavy with a weight he could not shake. The image of Samantha being dragged away and thrown into the cell replayed over and over in his mind. She was his fiancée. His mate. And yet, in the span of moments, she had been reduced to nothing but a criminal in Logan’s eyes. Theodore clenched his fists until his nails dug into his palms. He knew Samantha had been wrong—lying to the Alpha was an offense no one could overlook—but did it have to come to this? When Logan entered the sitting room, the tension became unbearable. The other wolves, Theodore and Xavier straightened, their heads bowed in instinctive respect. Theodore, however, could hardly lift his gaze. He swallowed hard before taking a tentative step toward the Alpha.“Alpha Logan,” he said quietly, his voice tight with emotion

The door slammed shut with a heavy thud, sealing Samantha inside the room with Theodore. The echo of it rattled her bones. Her whole body shook as she stumbled backward until her back brushed against the cold wall. Theodore’s grip on her arms was firm—too firm—his nails nearly digging into her skin. She dared not raise her head. Hot tears spilled over her lashes, blinding her vision. She was terrified, trembling not just from his anger but from the weight of the secret she had carried for too long.Theodore’s breath was ragged, his chest rising and falling as though he had sprinted across the whole territory. “Samantha,” he hissed, his voice tight with fury. “Tell me the truth. Is what Freya said true? Did you know she went into the human world?”Her lips parted, but no sound came. She couldn’t force the words out. Her throat felt stuffed with stones, choking her.“Answer me!” Theodore’s voice cracked like a whip, and before she could brace herself, he shook her hard, his hands trembl
