Chapter 8

Logan's POV

Eve sure has the nerves to go around spreading those tales about me. I walked briskly to where she was seated with her friends.

“Eve”, my voice boomed, jolting them out of their silly conversation and laughter.

“Alpha Logan”, Eve bowed. “Is anything wrong?” She asked, batting her eyelids like a child. 

“What's it that I've been hearing, Eve?” I walked towards her, staring straight at her.

“Logan…”, Freya held my arm but I gently pushed her off, my eyes not leaving Eve for a second.

“Brother”, she responded, coming closer to me. The only person I could see in front of me was the crying little baby I picked up and adopted years ago.

“I don't know what it is you've been hearing but I am certain this woman here has been the one feeding you such lies.” Eve responded, her eyes rolling angrily at Freya.

“Don't you dare say that about me”, Freya retorted.

“You”, I pointed at Eve whose eyes were moist already. Ever since she came into the NorthRidge pack, not for once did I raise my voice at her.

“Everyone knows you are my adopted sister and it will always remain so. I do not want to hear anything contrary to that. Is that clear, Eve?” 

“...Yes” she responded hesitantly before walking away. I could see the anger blaring in her eyes but I cared less. She needed to get it straight lest she keeps on hinting people wrongly.

“I'm sorry about what happened, Logan. Eve is such a bold girl to have said such words about you two…” 

“Enough Freya”, I interrupted her. “Eve is my younger sister and I won't have you talk about her in that manner.”

Freya stared at me blankly with an unreadable expression on her face. Her shoulders fell and her eyes turned pale with sadness. Why the hell do I even care?

I walked away, nudging her with my shoulder, “Come back to the room when you feel like.”

Freya sat right across me, her eyes on the floor. I had no idea what it was that was on her mind but I knew it was heavy.

We drowned in the heavy silence that engulfed the room, not even our breathing could be heard except for the chirping of the birds outside.

“You've been here for quite a while now and I believe you know the reason why you were brought here?” I finally broke the silence watching her squarely.

“Yes I do.” 

“I don't have much time to waste. I believe I've been lenient enough to let you rest well till you're ready”, I allowed my words to sink in before I continued. “Get ready for I'll want to have my pups anytime from now.”

Letting out a heavy sigh, she responded, “It's fine by me.” 

“You'll learn how to fight from the warriors. I'll have a personal trainer assigned to you. Training starts by six pm every day, so make sure to be ready earlier than the time, I do not tolerate lateness”.

Giving a faint smile, she nodded and walked away briskly as if she feared I would keep on dishing orders out to her.

Within a few seconds after her exit, I fell to the floor holding my head. The shrill voice in my head nearly knocked me out, making me stumble on the furniture.

“Alpha Logan”, Xavier rushed towards me, grabbing me by the arm. 

My vision became blurry and it felt like I was slowly dying. The voices in my head got louder. A familiar face flashed through my mind sending indescribable pains shooting through my heart. 

“You need to calm down, Alpha Logan”. Xavier screamed, dragging me towards the bed. 

“Make her go, make her go away”, Screaming wasn't going to help me get rid of my nightmare. A dreadful nightmare I'd always had for years. 

“Just take your meds and everything will be fine”. Xavier said, handing me a bottle of water. Xavier had been my best friend since we were kids and when I became Alpha, I made sure he was my beta. He had fought by my side in several battles, showing me his loyalty.

“Thank you, Xavier”. I responded, laying on my back. I gazed at the ceiling and the chandelier that hung from it. The scene from a few years back replayed in my mind and my heart skipped a beat. 

My feelings weren't that of sadness or hurt but rather anger and pain. The memories came flooding my mind, reminding me of every hurtful event that transpired, and the very reason why I choose to never love a female.

“Still having those bad dreams?” Xavier asked, taking a seat beside me.

“Yes, it doesn't seem like it will stop anytime soon.” I breathed hard.

Sighing, he continued, “Don't you think you can still sort out things with her?”

“Who?” 

“Lucia”

The mention of her name sent me expressing a thousand emotions at a time. “Lucia!” I exhaled, biting my lower lips as the pains she had caused me once again played in my mind.

“I don't wish to ever set my eyes on her”. 

“But you don't seem to have forgotten about her”. Xavier raised an eyebrow.

“I have, only the painful events from the past still haunt me and it's all her fault.”

Abruptly, I stood up,pacing up and down the room running my fingers through my hair. Lucia has caused me so much pain that my heart has turned extremely cold and not even the moon goddess will be able to revive it.
