Chapter 1

"Orlando, Monica spent her entire short life by your side. She even climbed that mountain in the rain to conduct field research for you. Now that she's gone, you must never remarry, or Monica will be heartbroken."

"Oh, and Monica's shares should be transferred to the two of us. We'll work together with you to protect everything Monica left behind."

Hearing those familiar voices, I sat bolt upright in bed. I had been reborn on the very day Monica faked her death and ran away with her lover!

"Where is Liam Rogers?" I demanded.

At my questioning, the two women—Clarissa Harris and Jocelyn Harris—froze.

"Monica just died, and you're more concerned about some driver? Are we really worth so little to you?" they accused.

Watching their faces twist in anger, I chuckled instead of panicking. "If Monica's dead, then I'm reclaiming all the shares transferred to her."

Then, I turned to my assistant, Eric James, and ordered, "Eric, come with me to the courthouse. We're removing her legal status and filing the death certificate."

Eric rushed to follow, while Clarissa and Jocelyn stood there, stunned.

They shouted, "Orlando, she just passed, and you're already this coldhearted? Shouldn't we get a share of what she left behind?"

Seeing their bloodshot eyes, I didn't slow my pace one bit. In my last life, when I heard Monica had died, I cried until I passed out and swore to stay loyal to her forever. As for her shares, I handed them over to Clarissa and Jocelyn under their subtle suggestions.

However, I knew something was wrong when I saw Monica in Sunmere Valley with our long-lost driver Liam, living happily as a family.

I had my people urgently audit the accounts and discovered that these two women had been using the shares I gave them to send Monica five million dollars monthly in living expenses, allowing her to live luxuriously abroad with Liam.

I had been played for a fool in my previous life, but not this time. This time, her "death" was the perfect opportunity.

The car had just arrived at the courthouse when news came back from the company that Monica's 30% stake had been completely recovered and was now mine. I nodded with satisfaction and handed the documents to the clerk.

"These are all my late wife Monica's documents. Please help me process her death certificate."

The clerk glanced at Monica's photo with a twinge of sympathy. "She was young, graduated from a prestigious university, and married into the Bryant family, too. Such a shame..."

She efficiently entered the information and pulled out her official stamp to seal the documents. Just then, Clarissa and Jocelyn burst in.

"Stop! Don't stamp it!" Sweat was dripping down their foreheads as they rushed in.

For a second, my heart clenched. I did choose Monica as my wife, but I had never treated these two women unfairly. Except for the shares, they had everything Monica had.

Yet, they had conspired to deceive me from the very beginning, fooling me for a full 60 years. While they were transferring money to Monica so she could take good care of Liam abroad, I was constantly investing in them, hoping they would live good lives.

While they soothed their longings with photos and video calls, I, the richest man in our country, was cooking and preparing meals for them. While they used fake business trips as excuses to visit Monica, I was secretly acquiring their favorite beauty brands to surprise them.

I treated them as family, but they played me for a fool. Now, it was time to show them clearly that without the Bryant family propping them up, they were nothing more than two orphans I rescued from the foster system.

"Clarissa, Jocelyn, when you speak to me, use respectful language," I commanded coldly.

Clarissa's mouth gaped open, her eyes filled with fury. "We always treated you like family. What gives you the right to order us around like this?"

Jocelyn scowled. "Orlando, what's wrong with you today? Is Monica's death hitting you too hard?"

A cold smile tugged at my lips as I stripped away the last bit of gentleness and stepped back into the role of the Bryant heir. "Do I owe you an explanation for how I feel?"

The look on their faces was pure disbelief. Fingernails digging into their palms, they finally lowered their heads in defeat.

"Yes, Mr. Bryant, we just heard the news of Monica's death and got emotional for a moment..."

I was not interested in hearing their excuses and waved my hand dismissively. "Proceed with the stamp."

As Liam spoke, he shook Monica's arm, but she pushed him away forcefully. He crashed against the curb with a sickening thud, splitting his head open. Blood poured from the wound while he whimpered and called her name in pain.Yet, Monica didn't even glance at him. Her eyes stayed glued to the documents in her hands. Inside were records from the day I helped her grandmother, Irene Sutton. Those were all records from when I saved Irene, including photos from inside the car, hospital payment receipts, and even a handwritten thank-you letter from Irene herself.Thankfully, Eric had a habit of archiving old items. He once suggested using them to promote my character as the Bryant heir. At the time, I felt it was just a small act of kindness done in passing, so I had Eric put it away.Who would've guessed it would end up clearing my name?… After Monica and the other two finished reading the documents, their faces all turned deathly pale."Orlando, the person who saved my grandma was

"Why were our cards frozen? Don't you know Liam needs a huge sum to continue his education abroad? We're running out of time, so I'll just pull the funds directly from the Bryant family account.""Why did you strip away our privileges at the Bryant family? Orlando, are you deliberately cutting off our living expenses right before Liam heads abroad? How can you be so petty?""Orlando, I know deep down you're jealous of the way we favor Liam, but he earned it through his kindness. You have no reason to target him!""Look, let's be honest with each other. If you're willing to give Liam 20 million and cover his future expenses, then I'll agree to spend the rest of my life with you. That's fair enough, right?""Orlando, Liam's tuition deadline is in three days. I order you to pay up immediately!"After reading that last message, I shut off my phone screen and smiled at Keira. "Our wedding will be held in three days."Keira didn't hesitate. She immediately had the entire Bryant family

Just when I couldn't hold on any longer, loud banging sounds suddenly came from outside the door. "Mr. Bryant, we're doctors. Are you okay? Please open the door."Monica and the others' faces turned grim as they all cursed under their breath. After exchanging glances, Clarissa moved Keira under the bed and carefully wiped away the blood stains from the floor. Meanwhile, Jocelyn took Monica's place in covering my mouth to prevent me from shouting.Dusting off her clothes, Monica spoke calmly. "He's fine. He's just signing the consent form to donate skin to Liam. Give us a moment, please."There was a pause behind the door. Then, the nurse called out again, sounding puzzled. "Are you referring to Liam Rogers? But he's not even injured. Why would he need a skin transplant?"All three froze in place. I seized the opportunity to break free from their restraints and shouted hoarsely, "They're trying to kill me! Break the door down!"A flurry of loud banging followed as someone outsi

Keira had stayed by my side without a status or a promise, giving everything to support my career. Honestly, in my past life, she was the main reason I had remained the wealthiest man in the country. And me? I treated her like some opportunist and never even looked her in the eye.Guilt twisted through my chest as I met Keira's gaze, filled with apology. "I was supposed to pick you up. Never thought it'd be you who had to come find me instead."Tears spilled from my eyes before I could stop them.Keira's eyes were clear and filled with heartache as she sighed softly. "Why are you crying? I'm here, aren't I?"Just as she finished speaking, there was a sharp whoosh—and she collapsed to the floor. I looked up in shock and saw Monica standing over us, gripping a fire extinguisher in her hands. She glared at us like a madwoman and growled, "Orlando, I was just asking for a bit of skin, not your damn life! And you're here whispering sweet nothings with another woman right in front of m

Monica and the others immediately stepped in to block the way."Do you even realize this is the VIP hospital suite of Orlando Bryant—the Bryant family's heir? You really want to risk your life barging in here?"My head was spinning, but I managed to let out a weak cry for help. The woman didn't hesitate and shoved all three of them aside, rushing straight to my bedside."Orlando, what happened to you?"Monica narrowed her eyes the moment she realized the woman knew me and quickly tried to stop her. "You must be an employee of the Bryant family, right? My husband is injured and not conscious, so I'm making all the company decisions."At this, Keira's face filled with fury as she straightened up and looked at the three women. "Oh, so you're the three little orphans Orlando raised for fun? Back from the dead—what a miracle indeed. You have no say here, so get out!"After saying this, Keira pressed the call button. Seeing that doctors and nurses were about to arrive, the three women'

"Drive me to the airport right now. That's an order."Monica's eyes burned with fury, but Liam gently tugged on her sleeve and slightly shook his head. After a long silence, she finally swallowed her pride, bent down, and personally opened the passenger-side door.Liam stepped in without hesitation. "Sorry, Mr. Bryant. Monica just regained her memory, and as the one who saved her life, I'm really worried about her condition. As the Bryant heir, I'm sure you won't mind, right?"Monica didn't look at me once. She buckled Liam's seatbelt, opened the driver's door, and muttered,"If you're coming, get in."At the sound of Monica's cold voice, Liam's lips curled up ever so slightly.I let out a short laugh and slid into the back seat. These two thought they were putting on a show of power, but they had no idea that I was headed to the airport to pick up my new wife.Just thinking about Keira made me sigh.In my last life, I swore I'd stay faithful to Monica.
