Chapter 10

Christina was stunned for a moment, and later, she recognized the female driver. “Ariel?”

Ariel walked toward her and grabbed her hands. “Where have you been all these years, Christina? Why has there been no news about you?”

She smiled bitterly and said, “I’m sorry, I… I don’t know where to begin.”

Ariel dragged Christina into her car. “Hop on, let’s talk while we’re on the road!”

“That b*stard Michael doesn’t want you, but you still got me, right? Christina, you haven’t called me for so many years. Do you even see me as your friend?”

Ariel was still the old her. She was straightforward and never beat around the bush.

They were besties in their school days, but later, one chose to marry, and the other chose to study abroad.

Ariel heard that Christina had divorced when she came back from abroad. Thus, she searched everywhere, but it was to no avail. Unexpectedly, Ariel met her when she passed by Christina’s apartment.

She liked the show business and currently was a director of a TV show. When she heard that Christina was searching for a job, her eyes glowed immediately. “That’s it!”

“What’s that?” Christina was confused.

Ariel did not answer her. Instead, she asked her, “Do you know about the show on TV where two bald men bought twenty-four crazy guys to prank five stupid fellows?”

Christina nodded. “Yeah, I know about that.”

Ariel snapped her fingers. “Our broadcasting station is planning to launch the Blind Date Reality Show, and our female guests must be gorgeous at the beginning to build-up the show. Christina, you’re an absolute stunner, can you pretend to be the guest for me?”

“No way!” Christina shook her head.

“Why not? With your body, when you stand on the stage, all the men would be attracted to you. You can do it! Plus, aren’t you short of money? The wage as our female guest is rewarding, and it’s a good chance to earn some easy money. Are you going to let it slip away?”

Christina was tempted when she heard the word money, and money was what she needed the most in her current situation. “You think I can do it?”

“Definitely!” Ariel gave her a guarantee and handed her a bunch of documents about the show. Then, Ariel called the broadcasting station. “I’ve found us a main female guest. Just find a few more ladies to meet the count and we’re good to go.”

Ariel was very decisive, no matter if it were a personal or work-related matter. She rushed back to her station for preparation after she had lunch with Christina.

Christina carried a load of documents and walked back while she was still dazed. Ten grand for an episode was considered a fair price for her.

Ariel also said if she could attract more attention, and if the result was good, she could have a raise.

Christina had been by Matthew’s side for almost three months and she had earned quite a bit of money from him. However, she spent a lot of it and did not save much money.

She could tighten her belt, but she could not let Travis suffer. Travis was only two years old, and he was going to nursery soon, which would also cost a lot of money. She could not just rely on Sean.

The Blind Date Reality Show came at the right timing, and it almost felt like it was too good to be true.

However, she could not care less as long as she could make some money, so she accepted it first and thought later.

Christina carried the documents and walked into the alley after she got off the bus. She was ready to study it when she got home, but a man stopped her after she took a few steps.

The bandages on Matthew’s head were not removed. He leaned on the wall with his shoulder with a leaf in his mouth. He was like a gangster.

Christina stared at him and tried to keep a distance as she walked past him, not wanting to bother him.

Matthew snorted and spit out the leaf from his mouth, then walked toward her and grabbed her hands. “Christina, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, you know.”

Christina was disgusted and had goosebumps all over her body. “Let go of me!”

She did not wear her specs, so her beautiful face tickled him and made him want to get closer to her.

It was a sin that he never realized such a lovely lady had been by his side for three months. If only he knew it earlier, he would have tasted her.

Now that he had managed to get her, he did not want to let go of her so easily. “I’ll let go if you promise me that you’ll go back with me.”

“Not a chance. I’ve resigned. You’re harassing me!”

Christina tried to break free of his hands, but he gripped her so tight it was useless. She said furiously. “I’ll scream if you don’t let go!”

He was laughing with a funny face. “Do it. If anybody hears you, I’ll just say you’re my girlfriend and we’re arguing!”

Christina was about to explode, and when did she become his girlfriend? What a b*stard.

She became anxious when she saw him messing around with her. Therefore, she bit the back of his hand viciously.

Matthew was in pain as he yelled and let go of her hands. Christina took this opportunity to run away and dashed into her house.

In the alley, his face was twisted with pain, and he was holding his hand. “You bite hard, wild little kitty. But I like it!”
