Chapter 11

Penulis: Crimson Ripples
There was a black Cayenne that was parked in the empty space opposite the alley. The driver withdrew his gaze and looked at Michael through the rear-view mirror.

“President Larson, that person just now… I think she looked like Mrs. Larson?”

Michael’s face turned green and he snorted. “She’s not the Larson family’s Missus anymore!”

The driver did not dare to speak anymore after Michael’s expression turned sour. He walked down from the car and opened the door for Michael, then opened up the map in front of him.

“President Larson, the demolition procedures are being processed. It can be completed in a week’s time at the earliest.”

“A week?” Michael talked to himself, “How can it be so quick?”

The driver was surprised. The procedures being processed quickly so that the project could start as soon as possible was good news. Why did President Larson look like he was not too happy?

Michael stood in front of the alley’s entrance, looking out to an apartment complex. He looked absentminded.

It was only after a long while that he picked up his footsteps and walked toward a noodle restaurant.

The owner saw some customers and quickly invited them into the restaurant. “What can I get for the both of you?”

Michael sat on the chair. “Korean Fire Noodles.”

The driver was shocked from the moment Michael sat down. This place did not have good hygiene; the chairs were dirty but President Larson sat down right away.

Plus, they just had dinner and President Larson wanted another bowl of noodles! Maybe he forgot?

The Korean Fire Noodles were very spicy. Stuffed with chili oil, anyone would start sweating just by how they looked. Michael used a fork to pick up the noodles and put them into his mouth. He chewed and chewed then took his time to swallow them.

Michael recalled his memories from a few years ago. It was also Summer when he saw a girl who wore simple clothing sitting at the roadside eating the Korean Fire Noodle from a food truck.

She tied up her hair using a hairband and pulled it toward the back of her head which revealed a pure and clean side profile.

The weather was really hot, and the noodles were very spicy. Her forehead had fine droplets of sweat so the girl wiped them off with tissue then continued eating with her head down.

It looked like the noodles in the bowl were the best food in the world.

Michael was used to seeing ladies eating gracefully. It was his first time seeing someone eating without regard for her image. He was instantly attracted to the girl who was eating spicy food so happily.

He stood by the roadside and looked at her for a long time until she finished and left.

On the second day, Michael was invited to the school’s public event. There was a forested road in front of the library. He saw the girl’s figure again.

She was still wearing that simple, light-colored long skirt. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail, which released a youthful aura.

He asked the other students who she was. The answer he got was that she was Sean Young’s girlfriend and her name was Christina Williams.

Michael had heard of Sean Young’s name previously. He was the son of a rich family. The family had businesses throughout the country but was still far from the Larson family.

Most importantly, Sean Young was not the typical ‘born with a silver spoon’ person. He was different from those good-for-nothing people from rich families. Sean Young was not only knowledgeable and well educated, he was also stable and modest. He was very business-minded as well.

Sean Young used his gifted wisdom to help the Young family again and again. Later on, he donated a large part of his profits to the children in poverty who lived in the mountains.

Later on, the teacher from the mountains brought the students here and expressed their gratitude directly to him. This news was covered all over the media. Soon after, his identity as the Young family’s heir was revealed as well.

Everyone was in awe. It was hard to believe that such a humble young man had such an extraordinary family background and experience.

“His family has so much money. How could he let his girlfriend wear so shabbily?” People who were jealous and envious were criticizing him behind his back.

Michael could not stop staring at Christina’s figure. He had heard about the matters in the Young family. Rumor had it that the Young family’s young master was attracted to a female student who was working and studying. However, the Young family did not agree with the relationship, so they separated them.

Michael initially did not believe that a person with Sean Young’s background would fall in love with a part-time worker. However, when he met Christina, he finally understood him.

The third time Michael met Christina, was at the restaurant she was working at.

Christina was serving food to the customers, but suddenly a big lady who was over ninety kilograms in weight bumped into her. The food that just came out from the stove was now spilled all over her hands.

This middle-aged lady started scolding her and said a lot of hurtful words. Christina kept her head low and did not stop apologizing.

Michael had seen this middle-aged lady before and knew she was one of the servants in the Young family. Since the Young family could not convince Sean Young, they started giving Christina trouble.

Michael saved her and Christina was very grateful.

Michael saw blisters formed on the burnt areas of her hands and wanted to bring her to the hospital. Christina refused and even said she was not in pain at all.

It was only later on that Michael found out that Christina worked to pay off all her school fees and living expenses. This trip to the hospital would cost her at least half of her living expenses.

She did not want to waste her money.

Due to the Young family’s objections, Sean Young and Christina broke off their relationship.

Michael witnessed this whole process and stayed by her side the whole time. He then won her heart in the end. On the day he kissed Christina for the first time, Michael swore that he would treat her well and not let her suffer from any difficulties.

From that day onwards, everything that he gave to Christina was the best. The only bad thing was Christina would go through difficulties in front of Michael’s mother. It was difficult to be the daughter-in-law of a wealthy family.

Michael thought he had done his best to love her and treat Christina like a baby in his arms.

However, Christina had betrayed him…

Michael felt a sharp pain in his heart and his mouth felt the sting of spiciness. Michael put down the fork, came out from the restaurant, and walked toward his car on the roadside.

The driver paid for the food and quickly followed him out.

Michael returned to his car and kept drinking big mouthfuls of water.

The phone rang, it was Serena. “Michael, where are you? I’ve something important to tell you.”

“Just a little while ago.” Sean came closer. “Christina, we need to talk.”She nodded and followed him to the garden. He helped her to get comfortable on the bench. “Do you believe in fate?”She shook her head, unsure where this was leading. “I didn’t either as I’m a firm believer that hard work always pays off. But now I do.”He looked her in the eye. “I’ve been lost and struggled a lot since that incident, unsure how to face you. After considering this seriously for the past few days, I’ve finally mustered enough courage to meet you again.”A sigh escaped her lips. “Sorry, Sean. It’s all my fault.”“No! It has nothing to do with you, Christina. It’s my fault that my love is not strong enough. I discovered that Suzy is really great after spending the past few months with her. She’s just like you. She’s gentle, kind, pure, and adorable. I realized I’ve fallen in love with her.”This was not what he really thought. He loved Christina since the beginning of time and believed he

“That’s old history. We think Michael is actually pretty good.”“We? Who do you mean?” Christina teased.Ariel and Matthew had been spending a lot of time together lately. Christina went through that herself and understood the passion in her friend’s eyes. This silly girl was actually in love. She could not be happier for her.“Who else? Matthew, of course!” Ariel glared at Christina.“I say whatever’s on my mind, unlike you, who always keep everything to yourself and get stuck in dilemmas. Every good opportunity slips past you because of your indecisiveness!” “How can I not be? I promised to marry him but I’m now trying to convince him to marry someone else. Is this really the best thing for him? Will he be happy?”Ariel questioned after a brief silence, “Christina, let me ask you this. Who do you care for more? Michael or Sean?”Christina asked herself the same question too. She naturally cared more about Michael in the past, but she also started to develop a strong feeling f

The following morning, Serena hurried to the police station to file a report. The police treated this with high importance and warned her to be careful of Darren Cain as he was a vicious gang member who had served over a decade in prison. She became more frightened after hearing that. Immediately, she moved out of that house and rented a place somewhere quiet. As she was terrified, she stayed indoors for the next few days.Much of Christina’s stress was relieved without having to deal with Serena’s pestering.“Christina, John was at the last stage of cancer. It was lucky enough that he lasted until he did. This is his fate, so try not to get too upset.” Francis comforted the dispirited woman. It did not make any difference even though he was not the real Francis. He had long adapted to the identity after assuming it for so many years. Most importantly, Christina was still willing to treat him like a real uncle even after finding out the truth.“Don’t worry, Uncle, I’m fine.”
