Chapter 13

Once Christina returned home, she looked at the material Ariel gave her from beginning till the end and analyzed them thoroughly.

As compared to the other popular Blind Date Reality Shows on TV, there were a few things that were different. The female guests would appear on the stage holding a mask and introduce their hobbies, interests, values, and their thoughts about love and family.

The male guests off the stage would freely choose the female guests that they liked and ask them questions. If the female guest had a good impression of the male guest, she could ask him questions in return. If both of them liked each other, the female guest would then take off her mask.

In other words, as long as the female guest did not make a choice, she could be wearing the mask forever and earn some money quietly.

Christina finally understood what Ariel was saying. This was surely a chance to get easy money. No wonder Ariel wanted her to go so badly and even said this was a good thing for herself.

Christina was just there for Ariel to gather enough people. She definitely would not be attracted to the male guests and did not need to remove her mask.

Christina took her phone and dialed Ariel’s number. “Ariel, I’ve read the proposal for the program’s material.”

“How was it? I’ve already told you. It would be a real waste if you don’t earn this money!”

Ariel was very confident. “You can pull through the first season first. If the ratings are high, I’ll leave you a spot for the second season, then the cash will be in your hands!”

As Ariel spoke halfway, she changed the topic suddenly. “Christina, this show has a lot of sponsors. Apparently, even that Larson b*stard has invested in it as well. You know, he wouldn’t invest in something that will make a loss.”

That was true. Michael was very business-minded. The investments that he picked would definitely make money.

However, upon hearing the name, Christina felt uncomfortable inside. She did not want to have anything to do with Michael at all.

Ariel had already guessed what she was thinking when Christina did not say anything. “Christina, don’t worry. That Larson b*stard’s too busy, how would he have the time to watch a Blind Date Reality Show?”

Christina was lacking money. Since she lost her salary from Matthew, she was in need of a new source of income. With such a good chance in front of her, she would either not do it or do it wholeheartedly so she decided to go for it.

“That’s what I’m talking about!” Ariel was very quick. “Christina, come to the broadcasting station tomorrow and sign the contract first.”

“Okay!”

After they decided the time to meet, Christina went to the broadcasting station the next morning and signed the contract.

Christina had roughly calculated that for the first season, just by recording more than ten sessions, she could get a generous amount of money. By adding on her uncle’s compensated money from the demolition, they could possibly buy a small house with that money.

After Christina had decided, she brought the reality show’s contract back home and showed it to Francis. Francis was delighted. Once they got this money, they would not need to worry about where to live anymore.

Francis purposely bought more groceries for dinner and even bought a whole chicken as an extra dish for Christina.

Before they could finish eating, there were knocks coming from the door outside. Francis frowned. “Could there be someone urging us to move out?”

“Let me have a look.” Christina put down her cutlery and walked over to open the door. She could see Matthew leaning against the door entrance.

She instantly pulled a long face. “Why are you here?”

“Why can’t I be here?” Matthew stared at her. “You’re giving this attitude when your guest is here?”

“We don’t welcome guests who invite themselves to this household!” Christina wanted to close the door.

Matthew used his hand to hold the door. “So can’t you just invite me now? Then I can go in!”

“Matthew Henderson, what do you want to do?” She had never seen someone so shameless.

Matthew adjusted his tie and spoke seriously, “I came over to see why my personal assistant skipped work for no reason!”

“You’re sick!” Christina stared at him angrily. “I’ve already resigned. I’m not your personal assistant anymore.”

“Do you think you can just resign anytime? Why are contracts for?”

“What do you mean?”

“What I mean is, according to the contract, you skipped work without a reason, so I need to cut your salary! Also, from tomorrow onwards, you need to get back to work!”

Matthew squinted his eyes and looked like he won this argument.

Christina thought about it. She did actually sign a contract with Matthew. That was because Sean recommended this job, so she did not even look at the contents of the contract. Christina just signed the contract and simply left the contract in Sean’s office.

After she listened to what Matthew said, an alarm went off in her heart. Could there be a problem with the contract?

“Matthew, even if there’s a contract, I can resign as well, can’t I? I’ll just forfeit the salary for this month!”

“Not so fast! On the contract, if one party wants to terminate the contract, that person needs to pay ten times the penalty for breach of contract!”

Christina was not worried about this. As long as it was not a contract to sell herself, a typical work agreement could be solved easily. “What if the boss has plotted a scheme in the first place and harassed me on purpose?”

Matthew showed both his hands and extended them in front of her. “Where’s your evidence?”

Christina instantly became silent.

She would never have known that Matthew would make advances on her. Who would have been so silly to put a spy camera in a hospital room or even record the conversation beforehand?

She definitely did not have any evidence.

Even if Christina did, just Matthew grabbing her hand would not be enough for it to be counted as harassment.

When Matthew saw she had nothing to say, his eyes smiled into a straight line. “Christina, you’re a part of my staff now. Please treat your job seriously and be in my office at eight sharp tomorrow morning. Right, about you skipping work, you need to write a 3000-word self-reflection and pass it to me tomorrow at the same time!”

Christina wanted to swear so badly and a word came out from her mouth. “B*stard!”

Matthew was laughing instead of being angry. Ever since he found out that Christina was a beauty, even her looks when scolding someone was cute and attractive to him.

He was not only not angry, Matthew even had a sudden thought of pulling her into his embrace and wanted to bite her very badly.

However, he could not be impulsive because this girl was still furious. So, Matthew needed to think of a long-term plan again. The first thing he needed to do was getting her back to work.

As long as Christina stayed by his side, he would always have the chance to win her heart. Then, when they ended up in the bed, he could just bite her the way he wanted and wherever he wanted!

Matthew was satisfied and left Christina’s house while he hummed to a song. When he walked out to the exit of the alley, he bumped into Michael and his driver again.

“President Larson, in a mood to come out tonight to admire the moon?”

Michael scanned the alley and really loathed this person. “I wanted to ask as well. What is Mr. Henderson doing here at this late hour?”

Matthew turned around, pointed up, and made up a lie. “My girlfriend lives here.”
