Chapter 14

Matthew randomly said the last sentence. When those words traveled into Michael’s ears, they sounded very harsh.

Matthew was well-known for being a womanizer. Michael was surprised that Christina would be in contact with such a Casanova, she really did not value herself.

Also, Matthew was recently attracted to a model and they were in the passionate stage. He was obviously cheating on both of them.

After he thought about it, Michael curved the corner of his lips and subtly insulted him by saying, “You’re a man of many tastes, Mr. Henderson!”

Matthew actually thought Michael was referring to the incident where Christina bit his hand, so he randomly replied, “I’ve no choice. I like playing with excitement. Plus, the more interesting, the better!”

Michael’s expression turned completely gloomy. Matthew’s words had changed the meaning and made him extremely angry as though there were grey clouds above him.

“I initially thought that Mr. Henderson was here for work. I never thought you were here to be a womanizer!”

This sentence was filled with insults and made the situation very tense.

Matthew was dull-witted and did not realize Michael’s provocation. “My principle is to work while I womanize. This is how I make life interesting!”

Matthew did not fight back. He felt like he had plenty of strength but could not land a solid hit, as though he was punching a sponge.

Michael felt more and more disgusted. This Henderson person had nothing good from the top to the bottom. He was a complete scum.

For Christina to find someone like that, nothing good would come out of it. ‘Wait for it, you’ll cry one day!’

After the car had left, Matthew stood on the same spot and felt perplexed. The Henderson family and the Larson family never interfered with each other and minded their own business. Everything Michael Larson said today was filled with subtle insults. Did he get off the wrong side of the bed?

Matthew’s father had told him that the most competitive opponents he needed to be cautious of were the Larson family. Michael Larson was mature and stable, plus he could conceal his emotions well. This made Michael a formidable opponent.

“Ptui!”

Just by Michael Larson’s terrible expression just now, he definitely did not have the tolerance and mind to achieve big things.

That Michael Larson definitely knew the Henderson family wanted to steal his business, so he was speaking very peculiarly. This had also proved that Michael Larson was not as great as he sounded from the rumors.

Michael Larson actually scoffed at him.

Matthew laughed. “Michael Larson, if you’re not letting me live peacefully, I won’t let you live peacefully either. We’ll wait and see!”

The next morning, Christina appeared in Matthew’s office on time.

She was still wearing the same old, black top with a pair of huge, black sunglasses on her nose bridge.

Matthew lifted his head and took a look at her. He immediately crossed his arms in front of his chest and started ranting, “Christina, why are you still wearing this pair of disgusting sunglasses? Why do you want to block me from admiring those beautiful eyes? This is a waste! It’s a disgraceful crime”

Christina glared at him and did not say a word. She walked forward to make a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Matthew, then went back to her seat and started working.

Christina had to arrange Matthew’s schedule for the day, then had to plan for tomorrow’s schedule.

Matthew held the coffee next to his lips and took a deep breath. “It smells really good! Christina, you’re the only one who knows my tastes well! Did you know that during the past few days when I couldn’t see you, I’ve had no appetite and I’ve become thinner…”

Christina just imagined there was a crow cawing above her and ignored the sound. She kept her head low and continued working, and Matthew continued to talk more. After he noticed she was not responding, he lost interest.

During lunchtime, Matthew changed the rule of not allowing Christina to stay close to him and had to make Christina sit next to him while he was eating. If not, he would cut her salary.

Christina felt repulsive toward him, but she could not find a reason to reject Matthew.

Matthew did not eat in the cafeteria with the other staff and brought Christina to a fine dining restaurant nearby.

When they entered, Christina suddenly started feeling resistant. Back when she was still with Michael, Michael always brought her to this fine dining restaurant.

Christina took a deep breath and pushed down the discomfort she was having then followed Matthew into the restaurant.

Matthew acted like a gentleman. He automatically pulled the chair out and placed the napkin for her. “Christina, I’ve heard that the dishes here are exceptionally good. I purposely brought you here for you to try. You’ll definitely be satisfied.”

Christina did not answer. The chef here definitely did have a high standard, all the dishes were tasty and flavorful.

Matthew took the menu and ordered eighteen special dishes in an instant. He still wanted two bottles of French red wine, but he could not make up his mind.

When he was about to order even more food, Matthew’s phone rang. He took his phone and walked out.

Her surroundings were finally quiet and Christina could finally let out a breath. Her gaze started to roam around and she saw Serena who was sitting on the other side.

The current Serena was completely different from the previous Serena when she first entered the Larson family. It could be said that she had an overhaul.

Her actions were elegant and poised. Serena looked like a beautiful and elegant lady in an art portrait when she sat there quietly. She looked so majestic, generous, and humble.

Christina’s lips turned into a smile full of mockery. She thought of the time when both Serena and her mother first entered the Garcia family, they looked like peasants that wandered into a mansion.

A peasant turning into a princess. That was probably used to describe Serena and Sophia Kendrick.

She placed her gaze to another side and coincidentally saw Michael walking into the restaurant from the entrance.

Michael actually spent quite some effort on Serena. It was just that last time, he brought Christina here but now he came here with Serena. Same place but different people, would Michael not have felt uncomfortable?

When Christina thought about it again, for a heartless person like Michael, why would he give all his love to a woman? Therefore, he naturally would not have felt uncomfortable.

Christina did not want to be seen by them, so she changed to another seat where her back was directly facing Michael and Serena.

Matthew hung up his phone and returned to the restaurant again. Michael saw Christina change her seat to where he was previously sitting. “Christina, the environment is pretty good here, isn’t it?”

Once he finished, Michael noticed the two people who were sitting behind Christina.

Matthew’s face darkened. “I take back my words. The environment isn’t actually that great!”

Christina laughed coldly and did not turn back. “President Henderson, you know them?”

“We’ve only run into each other once, I wouldn’t count that as an acquaintance.” Matthew replied, “When I got into a car accident in front of your place, it was this b*stard who crashed my car. I don’t even know what was he doing there at midnight in a rathole in the middle of nowhere!”

Once he finished talking, he suddenly realized that the place in the middle of nowhere was Christina’s house. Matthew quickly changed his expression to please her. “I take it back. Christina, I hope you don’t mind.”

Michael brought his gaze over to them. Although it was just her back, he could recognize who this woman was at first glance.

Especially since the person who sat next to her was the son of the Henderson family who could make someone feel disgusted and angry.

Michael felt hurt and his expression turned cold.
