SELENE

The morning sun peeked through the curtains, soft and warm against my skin. For a second, I forgot the mess from last night.

Until I stretched out my hand and touched… nothing.

No Zarek.

No warmth beside me. Just cold sheets and silence.

I sat up slowly, letting the blanket fall from my body, and grabbed the silk robe draped at the foot of the bed. As I tied the sash around my waist, I spotted Zarek’s black card on the table near the mirror—exactly where he kept it.

I walked over, picked it up, and turned it between my fingers.

He said I could use it whenever I needed anything. But today, I wasn’t just “needing” something. I had a reason.

I turned as the door opened.

Zarek stepped in, towel slung over his shoulder, shirtless and still damp from his shower. His eyes landed on me and the card in my hand.

“Planning to rob me?” he asked lightly.

“I want to get some baby stuff,” I said, holding up the card. “Maybe a few extra things too.”

He grinned and tossed the towel aside. “Take

SELENE“What are you doing here?” he asked, voice level, eyes flickering between me and Nora.I tilted my head, keeping my smile sharp. “Won’t you offer me something to drink first? I did come all this way.”He blinked, caught off guard for a second. Then he recovered.“My bad,” he murmured, waving to the maid who stood like a statue near the doors. “Bring something—whatever she likes.”As the maid disappeared inside, I glanced at Nora, whose gaze was fixed on Orion like she was tracking a target. Her body was still, but the tension in her jaw said everything. She hadn’t blinked once since she stepped out of the car.A moment later, the maid returned with a silver tray, delicate glass glistening with cold moisture. She handed it to me like I was royalty, and I took it like I was about to drink.Nora’s eyes snapped to mine. But I didn’t lift the glass to my lips.Instead, I tilted it forward and let the liquid pour out, slow and deliberate, onto Orion’s polished stones. Then I squeezed

SELENE“SELENE!”We all flinched. The voice rang out from the hallway like a whip.“Alpha Zarek,” Clara said under her breath, stiffening. My heart skipped a beat, but my voice was calm. “All of you need to leave. Now.”Vivian looked at me sharply. “Through the door?”“No,” I shook my head, already moving. “The window. If Zarek sees me alone with Leila, he won’t question it. But if he finds Evelyn or her maids here, he’ll start digging. And none of us want that.”Evelyn folded her arms. “And why should I listen to you?”I turned to her with a slow smirk. “Because Zarek will blow up at me, sure. He always does. But we always settle. You? Your name alone pisses him off. You keep stacking crimes on that name, Evelyn, and one day—he’s going to wipe your bloodline off this pack like it never existed.”She flinched.Vivian grabbed her arm. “She’s right. We need to go.”I turned to the two maids, eyes narrowed. “And you two… I’ve been busy lately. Haven’t had the time to do proper checks. Bu

SELENESilence fell like a shroud over the room.Vivian looked down at her hands.Clara shifted her weight near the door.Evelyn’s face stayed cold—but there was something flickering behind her eyes. And Leila? She looked like a girl trying to breathe through a wildfire.“Because I loved him,” Leila said suddenly, her voice cracking. “Because I still do.”I stopped.“We didn’t plan this,” she went on, her voice rising like a tide she couldn’t stop. “I didn’t go looking for Orion, Selene. I ran into him after that Council raid, when Zarek sent me out to handle patrol disputes in the north. Orion had wounded warriors. I helped them. That was the first time.”She paused, swallowing hard.“He didn’t threaten me. He didn’t ask anything of me. He just… listened. And he saw me—not as Zarek’s sister, not as some political pawn—but me.”Her eyes brimmed with tears, and for the first time, I saw her—not the stubborn girl, not the reckless one—but a broken, terrified woman trying to stand in a s

SELENEZarek turned sharply, his brows furrowing in alarm as I clutched my stomach and doubled over slightly.“Ouch,” I gasped again, squeezing my eyes shut. “My pup… it hurts—Zarek, something’s wrong…”His hands were on me in seconds. “What do you mean something’s wrong? Where exactly? How bad is it?”I shook my head, keeping the act going. “It came out of nowhere—just this sharp pain, like something twisted inside—Zarek, please.”“Selene, sit down.” His voice was firm, but his hands trembled as he guided me to the couch. “Easy. Don’t move.”I collapsed into the cushions, gripping his forearm like I was barely hanging on. His scent wrapped around me, grounding me even as guilt twisted tight in my chest. But I couldn’t let him leave. Not tonight. Not with Leila unconscious just a few rooms away.Zarek crouched in front of me, eyes scanning my face, then my stomach. His hands hovered, unsure if he should touch.“Where’s the pain now?” he asked, voice tight. “Is it sharp? Dull? Does it

SELENE“Oh my goodness, I missed my home,” I muttered as I stepped inside, the familiar scent of pinewood floors and warm hearths wrapping around me like a blanket.“Welcome, Luna,” one of the warriors greeted with a small bow.I didn’t stop walking. I waved him off, too tired to offer more, and headed straight for the dining area. My throat was dry, so I reached for a jug of water, poured myself a glass, and raised it halfway to my lips. That’s when I saw them.Evelyn. Vivian. Clara. And in their arms—Leila.“Leila?” I whispered, heart stalling. My hand lowered. I moved closer, fast. But Evelyn snapped her fingers at me, signaling urgently to shut up.I stopped. My eyes darted between their panicked faces.“What happened to her?” My voice dropped low, sharp. “Did you hurt her? How could you—”“We didn’t,” Vivian cut in quickly, almost pleading. “We would never. Leila’s pregnant. She collapsed.”My stomach dropped. “She’s what?”“She fainted right after vomiting,” Clara explained. “Vi
