MONIQUE
After he dropped me off, he drove off without saying anything and I’ve been staring at my wristwatch every hour to know what the time was.I hated that I was bothered but I couldn’t help it. As much as I was angry at him, I also had my part to play because I recall clearly what our agreement was but I just didn’t think it was going to be this way.The day soon began to lose its brightness signaling that nighttime was coming and I saw no headlights of Gavin. I wanted to pick up my phone and call him but my pride wouldn’t allow me to.Eight o’clock, nine o’clock, ten o’clock and I gave it up and called him. I dialed his number, it rang but no response. I dialed his number again for the second time and the same response.I gave up and decided to sleep and wasn’t responsible for him but I couldn’t. I tossed and turned on the bed, pleading for my body to listen to me and sleep but it didn’t happen.“Sleep, Monique! Sleep for fuck sake! He’s a grown-ass man and he will be fine so close your eyes and sleep!” I exasperate.Just as I was about to close my eyes and sleep, I heard a loud sound. I jumped off the bed and rushed outside to see what was happening. I reached the top of the staircase and saw Gavin with two women by his side and his arms firmly around their waist.I frowned at the sight. I walked down the stairs towards him to speak to him because I needed to know why he had to bring in two women to the house we both lived in.“Who is she?” One of the ladies by his side asked as we locked eyes with one another.“Is she going to have sex with us?” The other lady asked.“Will she?” Gavin remarked, now staring at me and all I felt was anger.“Would you like to join us?” Gavin asked, a mischievous grin formed on his face.“There’s space for more,” he added and I scrunched my nose in disgust. It was evident that he was drinking but he wasn’t drunk.“She’s pretty though,” the first lady who spoke the other time said, staring at me lustfully.“I will pass.” I pressed my lips in a firm line.“Can we speak Gavin?” I whispered beside him.“If you have anything to say then you might as well just say it here,” he replied.I raised my brows in a questioning manner. “Are you serious right now? You want us to talk here with them present?”“As you can see I am busy and if you are not interested in joining us then you might as well just keep whatever it is that you have to yourself because I don’t have time.” He replied through his teeth.I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say to him.“I thought as much. Let’s go, ladies,” he said.I watched as he walked up the straits with both women by his side. I bit on my bottom lips, suppressing my pain. I didn’t know for how long I stood where I was but when I decided to back to my room, I realized that it was past midnight.——————-I reached the dining table for breakfast and to my surprise, Gavin was seated already. I looked around for the women he brought in with him last night but they were nowhere to be found.I joined Gavin on the table, making sure to sit down at the chair opposite his as I was angry with his attitude last night. He didn’t have to act like a child because I wasn’t ready to have sex with him.I tried not to bring up last night's topic but I couldn’t help it.“We have to talk about last night,” I started.“And what is there to talk about?” He asked, not lifting his face to stare at me.“Where are the girls you came in with?” I asked again. He finally looked at me, “And how is that your concern? Don’t you think you are doing too much? What’s with all this questioning or are you jealous perhaps?” He curled his lips to his side.“Jealous?” I scoffed in disbelief.“Oh please. That’s the last thing I’d do. I am not jealous. I can’t and will never be,” I replied.“Then maybe you should mind your business. What I do is my business and in case you are forgetting it, should I remind you that you aren’t fulfilling your part of the bargain?” He remarked he sounded angry.“And I asked for time. I…” I trailed off when he got up on his feet.“I do not want to have this conversation with you anymore. I’ve lost my appetite,” he stated.“You have got to be kidding me. Do you know what you are acting like right now? A child!” I uttered in anger, getting up on my feet too.“We are both grown adults and we should learn to speak instead of you acting this way!” I chided. He let out a sarcastic laugh. “Adults? Then you should know when to act your role. You should know when to do the needful! We agreed on something and I am not a man that would force myself on a woman so I expect you to play your part. This isn’t part of…”“Is that what you care about? Sex! Sex! Sex!” I exasperate.“Did I get myself involved in some kind of bondage or what!” It was honestly annoying at this point.“Sex was a part of it. Stop trying to act like a saint and like we haven’t fucked before. I’m done with this conversation. I don’t want to speak on it anymore.” He stated quietly.I watched his retesting steps in anger. Everything was already messy and it wasn’t up to a week, worse three days after we got married.Monique I was restless. I tried everything I could to stop thinking about the conversation that Gavin and I had earlier today, but no matter how many times I tried, I couldn't help it. To make things worse, I couldn't resume work just yet since it would be strange for me to start working immediately after my wedding to Gavin, so what that meant was that I was stuck in the house for the time being, and so was Gavin. I haven't left my room since our conversation, mostly because I didn't want to run into him and also because I didn't want to end up giving in to him. I already tried considering the idea of going on a honeymoon with him, but no matter how many times I thought it over, it was still a bad idea. Feeling frustrated, I let out a tired sigh, wondering how long I would have to stay cooped up in here. My room was already starting to feel a little bit suffocating. I honestly wanted to take a walk around the house and see for myself how big the place was since I haven't don
MONIQUE"Can we meet up and talk?" I read the message that came in some seconds ago. I furrowed my brows as I thought about who it could be as the message came from an unknown number."Who is this?" I sent it back, wanting to know since I couldn't guess. "It's Cole. Can we see and talk?"After reading the text, I was surprised that he'd sent me a text. Why does he want to see me? It didn't make sense to me why he'd want to talk to me.We had no business with each other and the last time we spoke, he threw me out of his house calling me a useless girl so what does he want to say to a useless girl?I ignored his text but my phone beeped again and again signaling I received numerous texts."Please don't ignore.""I know that you do not want to see me but please don't ignore me.""I will wait for you at the mountain restaurant 9:30pm.""I hope that you will come."I read his text and shook my head in disbelief. To think he thought I’d come if he sent me a bunch of text messages. Just as
Monique's Pov I could already tell that the voice that asked where I was coming from belonged to Gavin, but what I couldn't understand was why he thought he had any right to ask me such a question."I'm sorry, but what right do you have to ask me where I'm coming from? I mean, I remember asking you the same thing earlier, and you definitely didn't seem enthusiastic to respond to me, so why should I ?" I retorted, turning to look at him with a disapproving look on my face. He was obviously not having my response, and I watched him groan in frustration without caring in the least bit about how he felt. "Listen, Monique, I really don't understand what your problem with me is, but this nasty attitude of yours needs to stop! I'm sick and tired of dealing with this disrespect, and if you have something you perhaps want to say to me, go ahead and say it instead of behaving like a child," he said, and I scoffed in disbelief. Men and their audacity. I just finished dealing with one idiot
GAVINit has been the same ever since we had our first fall and I'm hating it. I tried not to be affected by it but it's driving me crazy. We got married for a purpose and that's what we should be doing. Each time I try to start a conversation with her, it always ends up in a fight and it doesn't sit well with me.Once again, I'm out, having a shot of two to distract myself before I go out."Hey handsome," a girl appeared beside me, touching my shoulder while staring at me lustfully.I removed her hand from my shoulder and looked away from her. "What are you doing here alone?" She asked and I mentally scoffed.I didn't reply to her because my response wasn't necessary. "You know..." she placed her palm on my shoulder again. "For a man like you, it doesn't make sense for you to be alone, don't you think?"I placed my hand on her and gently removed them. I called for the attention of the bartender. "My bills please," I said," taking out my card from my wallet. The waiter came back wi
Third-person pov "You can't possibly be serious, Cole!" Whitney hissed as she stared back at Cole with an annoyed look on her face. "And why exactly do you think that I'm not being serious right now, Whitney? What else do you expect me to do? Did you really think that I was going to let my pride get in the way? I'm not that stupid, Whitney! Don't underestimate me like that," Cole responded, not liking how Whitney was reacting to the fact that he had told her about meeting up with Monique. The reason he didn't tell her beforehand was because he knew how dramatic she was, and the last thing he wanted was for her to let her emotions dictate how they should go about the fact that Monique was about to be a problem again. Whitney rolled her eyes at him, letting her irritating show before responding. "I'm starting to find it very difficult to believe you when you say you're not stupid, Cole. I mean, how do you not realize how stupid and embarrassing you must have looked when you decide
MONIQUEI was stunned. I was trying to comprehend all that he had just said to me. It didn’t feel real but then it was because he was right in front of me telling me what I should know about him, things he never said before. This was why he rescued me. He also had a vendetta against Whitney and was amused by my action that day when I interrupted their wedding by pouring a bucket of red paint on her white dress.Whitney wasn’t her real name. I couldn’t believe it. Does Cole know this? I thought to myself but then again if he doesn’t know it’s none of my business because it would be nice for her to deal with him just as she did with every other but at the same time her type shouldn’t be walking around freely. “I want to take her down. I want to expose her true identity to the world and for me to do that, I need your help. She is the cause of my younger brother's death and also the reason my mother is on the bed, lying helpless and paralyzed,” Gavin said through gritted teeth, I also di
Monique "This can't be happening," I muttered under my breath as I scrolled through the comments under one of the many articles that were posted about me. I honestly did not think that this situation was going to blow out of proportion this way, but my name hasn't left the media ever since the first article was released, and not only was everyone talking about the fact that I'm only recently divorced, they were also talking about how I was now the CEO of one of Gavin's companies. When I initially found out that an article was released, I had hoped that the situation would die down very quickly, but instead, it kept getting worse by the minute. Gavin hasn't stopped calling as many reporters as he knew to help him diffuse the situation, but it seemed as though the more he tried to put an end to the mess, the messier it would get. Right now, I was reading through an article that not only accused me of being a gold digger, but I was also accused of trying to get back at my ex-husb
Monique I walked into Gavin's office slowly, doing the very best that I could to mask the fact that I was nervous. As soon as I walked in, the first thing I saw was Gavin's father, Anthony Jones, standing in front of his son with a very disapproving look on his face. Mentally sighing, I closed the door behind me, and both men immediately turned to look in my direction. "Well, well, well, if it isn't the lady of the moment," Anthony said as soon as he saw me, and of course, I knew he was being sarcastic with his comment. "Hello, Mr. Jones. It's good to see you," I said, maintaining a polite tone. He scoffed as soon as I responded and then proceeded to roll his eyes at me. "I wish I could say the same for you, but unfortunately, I can't say it's good to see you because it's not good to see you," he hissed. "Do you realize how much embarrassment and shame you have brought into my family and to my last name? Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is for me to have a daughter-in
