INICIAR SESIÓNLUCIAN POV
Then unexpectedly I laughed. It wasn't a laugh or a mocking one, but a quiet amusement that broke the tension just enough to shift the air between us. The sound seemed to catch her off guard more than my name had.
"What is it that surprises you most?" My tone was calm. Had a curious edge because I was genuinely interested in how she handled power. Not everyone reacted the way.
She blinked once twice as though getting her bearings and unexpectedly. She laughed too.
Her laugh wasn't polished or controlled like mine. It was uneven, breathy, and almost disbelieving as though the situation had gone far beyond logic that laughter was the only thing left.
That... I hadn't expected.
I studied her closely. People usually reacted to me with caution, fear, or calculated politeness.. Not this strange fragile humor that felt like both defense and release at once.
"Last I remember," she said, shaking her head slightly while a faint, incredulous smile touched her lips, "I was warned not to come near that name."
Her eyes lifted to mine again. There was something in them now. Not just shock, but curiosity mixed with something almost daring.
I tilted my head slightly, and let her words settle before responding because what she had just revealed was more valuable than she realized.
"Warned?" I echoed. My voice was quieter now more deliberate. This was where truth began to unravel.
I took a step closer. Not enough to invade her space. Enough to narrow the distance so she couldn't easily retreat.
"By the people who took everything from you, " I continued. My gaze was steady. "Or by people who never wanted you to see what was really within your reach?"
The question landed where I intended. Her expression shifted instantly.
She didn't answer.
That silence told me enough.
A faint smile touched my lips. It wasn't warm or soft. Knowing. People rarely realize how much control they surrendered the moment they stopped questioning what they had been told.
I moved past her slightly. Just enough to change the angle of the conversation. Then I gestured toward the car behind me with a motion.
"Come with me " I said.
She stiffened slightly. Her body reacted before her mind caught up. Then she took a step back. Instinctively she created distance between us.
"Why?" she asked. Her voice was guarded again. Though the earlier sharpness had softened into caution. "I don't even know you."
That was fair.
I raised both hands slightly. Palms open. The gesture was deliberate and controlled.
"No pressure " I said calmly. My tone was neutral, almost indifferent. As though I had all the time in the world. "Whatever you wish, Miss Storm."
Her gaze lingered on me for a long time. Searching for something. Perhaps a hidden motive. Perhaps a crack in my composure.
Then something changed.
"Where's my phone?" she asked suddenly. Her voice tightened as reality crept in from a different angle.
Her hands moved instinctively. Patting her dress. Checking for something that wasn't there. I watched as confusion replaced hesitation.
She turned slightly. Scanning the area as though the answer might appear if she looked hard enough. There was nothing.
The realization settled slowly. Heavily. I saw the moment it hit her. Not dramatically.
She had nothing left.
Not in the way that mattered.
Her shoulders dropped slightly. When she looked back at me the question in her eyes was no longer why.
Instead, she walked past me.
I turned slightly as she approached the car without hesitation, and stepped ahead of her. Opening the door before she reached it.
She paused for a second. Her hand brushed lightly against the edge of the door. As though grounding herself in the decision she was making.
Then she got in.
No argument.
No question.
Just action.
I closed the door behind her with a controlled motion. As I moved around to the side I allowed myself a brief moment of reflection. Not, on what had happened.. On what it meant.
She hadn't trusted me.
She hadn't fully understood me.
Yet... She had chosen to step forward anyway.
I slid into the seat beside her. The interior of the car settled into silence. The outside world faded behind glass. For a moment neither of us spoke.
She stared ahead. Her expression was unreadable now.
"Where are we going?" she asked finally. Her voice was quiet but steady.
“Somewhere safer, " I said, my voice was calm though I was still looking at her reflection in the dark glass.
“Safer?" she asked after a moment her voice was careful. "From what "
This was a reasonable question.
I let a small smile appear on my face because the truth is never told all at once.
“That depends " I said, moving slightly in my seat as the car drove smoothly through the city. "It depends on whether you think you have already seen the worst of your situation or if you think there is more to come.”
She turned her head her eyes met mine directly. I could see that she was not sure what to think. She was curious but careful.
“You talk like you know something I do not " she said quietly her voice was steady. I could hear that she was suspicious.
I looked at her for longer than necessary not to scare her but to let her think about what I said.
“I know enough " I replied, my tone was measured. "I know that leaving you where I found you would not have been a good idea, that is not your world.”
This was true.
There was silence after that. It was not empty. It was filled with questions that she was not ready to ask
So she leaned back slightly her shoulders relaxed a little. This meant that she had decided to wait and see what would happen next.
That was okay.
The rest of the drive was quiet. It did not feel awkward. I let the silence stay because people often say more when they are not talking than when they're
“You are very calm for someone who just lost everything " I said eventually breaking the silence. "You are not like people who are in your situation.”
Her lips pressed together. For a moment I thought she might not answer.
“I do not think it has hit me yet " she said, her voice was quieter now more honest. "Or it has and I just do not know what to do with it.”
This answer told me a lot about her.
“You will " I said simply. "Eventually you will understand what has happened.”
She looked at me again trying to decide if I was trying to comfort her or warn her. I did not say anything
Not everything needs to be explained.
When the car turned onto the private drive the atmosphere changed immediately.
The city noise disappeared, replaced by a quiet that felt deliberate. As the gates opened ahead of us I saw the moment when her attention sharpened again.
The Sterling Mansion did not need to announce itself. It was clear that this was a place.
It revealed itself gradually. Through its size then through its details and finally through its presence. This place was not built to impress it was built to dominate.
She leaned forward slightly as the car approached, her eyes fixed on the structure ahead. I watched her. I saw that she was in awe.
“That’s…" she started.
“Yes," I said quietly my tone was almost empty of emotion. To me this was home.
To her, it was something entirely.
Before she could open the car door I got out and went to her side. I opened the door with a controlled motion, out of habit.
She hesitated for a moment before getting out of her eyes immediately scanning the surroundings. Her reaction was not exaggerated. I could see that she was impressed.
She just did not want to show it.
This was interesting.
“Welcome," I said, though the word meant more than it seemed to. "Welcome to Sterling.”
She did not respond because she had seen something else.
I followed her gaze.
Luke.
He approached with confidence his posture straight his expression composed. I knew him enough to see the subtle change in his gaze when he looked at her.
He was curious. He recognized her. There was something in his eyes but he would never say it without permission.
“Sir," Luke said as he stopped a distance away his voice even, as always. His eyes flicked briefly toward her before returning to me.
“Luke," I acknowledged, my tone was calm. No further explanation was needed between us.
He turned slightly toward her his demeanor softening enough to appear welcoming.
“Miss Storm," he said, offering a nod of greeting. "It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”
ANNA POVBelle shifted slightly beside me her fingers still loosely intertwined with mine. I could feel the uncertainty in her touch like she was trying to figure out where she stood in this conversation. My chest tightened because even that small movement felt like something I needed to protect.Lucian finally spoke again his voice steady and low. He had this authority that made every sentence sound like he had thought it through before saying it."Do you really want Belle involved in this?" he asked, looking at me now. His gaze was not harsh. It was unsettling like he was measuring my response.I felt my jaw tighten slightly. The way he asked the question made it sound less like he was concerned and more like he was evaluating Belle's place here. It was like he was deciding whether or not to approve of her beingI hesitated for a second. My emotions were all over the place. I couldn't sort them out properly. Then I forced my voice to be steadier than I felt."Whatever pleases you,"
ANNA POVShe blinked at me startled by my reaction. Then she slowly let out her breath. "Someone from the wedding center called me," she said, carefully watching my reaction. "They said there was chaos. They said you disappeared right before everything went wrong."My stomach felt tight at that word. Disappeared. Belle kept going her voice getting steadier as she remembered."I rushed to the venue immediately," she said, her hands tightening a bit as she spoke. "I couldn't find you or Steven anywhere. It was like you both just... Vanished."Her words made my chest feel heavier. They confirmed what I already feared. I hadn't just left that church. Something had pulled me out of it. I swallowed hard making myself listen even though my instincts were screaming at me to stop."And then one of the church members recognized me," Belle added, her expression tightening again. "They told me your friend had been taken away by a man."A cold feeling ran through me at that sentence. I felt my b
ANNA POVThe door closed behind Lucian with a sound that felt really loud to me and for a few seconds, I just stood there staring at it trying to tell myself that I was still in charge. The room he had brought me into was perfect too quiet it was like something out of a movie or something and that was exactly what was bothering me the most as I slowly let out my breath and tried to calm down.I do not belong here I thought to myself even though my feet had not moved yet and that thought alone was enough to make my chest feel tight again. But I needed something that I knew, something that was mine the phone box was still sitting on the table untouched as if waiting for me to accept that I had already gotten into something I did not fully understand.I opened it quickly my fingers were a little shaky as I pulled out the device and turned it on watching the screen light up in a way that felt familiar."This is ridiculous," I said to myself because if I did not say something the silence i
LUCIAN POVShe looked surprised by what I said. I could see the confusion on her face.I took a step forward to get her attention back on me. I didn't want her to start wondering much."You should come inside," I said calmly. It wasn't really a question. She looked at me at Luke and then at the big building, behind us. I could see her thinking about what to do.It was clear she didn't trust me. Not yet, anyway. She wasn't leaving either. That was a sign."Okay " she said finally. It sounded like she was really committing to something. The doors opened before we reached them and the change from the world to the inside of the Sterling Mansion was immediate. It was not loud. It was very noticeable. She slowed down the moment she stepped inside and even though she tried to hide it I saw the way her eyes looked up taking in the ceilings and the clean lines. The Sterling Mansion was quiet and elegant. It did not need to shout for attention. The Sterling Mansion was not made to impress peop

LUCIAN POVI kept my arm out steady and deliberate. I had waited a long time for this moment, and I was not going to back down. She looked at my hand like it was something that could hurt her. Tears were stuck to her eyelashes. I saw the struggle in her eyes."Who are you?" she asked finally. Her voice was shaking while trying to sound strong. I did not answer. Her eyebrows came together. The silence between us was uncomfortable. Her suspicion turned into something dangerous."Why are you doing this?" she asked loudly. Her pain was turning into anger. "Have you been following me? Are you a friend of Stevens?"She pushed herself up a little. Her hands were on the floor. She was trying to hold on to reality. Then her voice broke."Are you here to laugh at me too?" she asked. This time it was not anger. It was sad. It was real. For a moment something inside me woke up. If Steven was here I would have hurt him. He was not here. I reached into my coat. Pulled out a handkerchief. I took a
