Amelia’s heart skipped the moment she heard Ryan’s words. Could it be that he found out about her little lie? Had he been keeping an eye on her all day? She wondered while thinking of a way to get out of this hole because she knew how much Ryan hated lies and being kept in the dark especially when it concerned her. Again, thinking back to all that happened that day, she didn’t even know if she was ready to disclose such a huge issue to him. But she was wise enough to know that now that Liu was out, it’d soon be known that she was his child and whether she liked it or not, it’d become public news because she was sure if the man had finally decided to come out as her father, then he’d be ready to publicize it.

“I… I’m sorry,” she finally said in a small voice, tired of hiding the truth from him. “I was going to tell you but I just wanted to go on my own and know if it’ll work out,”

“What would work out?” Ryan spat out in a voice so cold that it cut through Amelia’s hurt, her soft brown
