The days following my confrontation in Julian’s office passed in a blur of furious, relentless labor. I had no time to sit and weep over a man who wanted to tuck me away in the dark like a shameful secret. If Alpha Julian Vance wanted to play blind and deaf to the bond between us, I was more than happy to give him total silence.

Valerian Heights was undergoing a rapid transformation. The sleek glass-and-steel metropolis was being draped in banner silk and floral arches for the decennial festival... the grandest, most prestigious gathering in our territory. Unmarried alphas, pack delegates, and high-society lineages from every corner of the realm were pouring into the city center to test their fortunes in the mate-seeking games.

My landscaping team was on the front lines of the preparations, working under the scorching sun to ensure the city park looked immaculate. While the rest of the pack buzzed with eager excitement, I used the physical exhaustion to numb the constant, low-humming ache in my chest... the stubborn tether of the mate bond pulling toward a man who refused to claim me in the light.

"Did you hear the news from the northern checkpoint?" Mia asked, breathless as she dumped a heavy crate of white orchids beside my wheelbarrow. Her cheeks were flushed, her eyes wide with a mix of awe and terror. "They're already here, Ivy. The Deeproot Pack has crossed the border."

I paused, wiping a bead of sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand. "The Deeproot Pack? I thought they weren't expected until tomorrow evening."

"Well, they don't exactly follow modern schedules," Dion added, joining us with a bundle of wooden stakes over his shoulder. He looked genuinely nervous, glancing toward the main boulevard. "They don't use high-speed trains or luxury motorcades either. They rode in on horseback straight through the mountain pass. The whole northern guard is on high alert."

Mia leaned in closer, dropping her voice to a dramatic whisper. "Everyone says their leader, Alpha Rowan Thorne, is a complete monster. His pack lives in the uncharted deep wilderness where ancient magic still runs wild. They don't build glass towers or hold formal galas. They hunt, they conquer, and they obey ancient blood laws. Rowan has never stepped foot inside a civilized city before today."

A strange, prickling sensation rippled across the back of my neck, though I tried to shrug it off. "He's just another visiting Alpha coming to attend the festival," I said softly, trying to convince myself more than them. "We just need to finish planting these fern beds before Beta Dylan comes around for inspection."

"Ivy, you don't get it," Mia warned, grabbing my arm. "Rowan Thorne doesn't bow to municipal authority. The rumors say his wolf spirit is so massive and feral that even other Alphas tread lightly around him. Be careful when his delegation passes through the park."

Before I could reply, the ambient noise of the bustling city square died down. The chatter of patrons at nearby outdoor cafes faded into an eerie, suffocating silence. Even the mechanical hum of traffic on the perimeter streets seemed to grind to a sudden halt.

A low, thunderous vibration began to reverberate through the paved walkways beneath our boots. It wasn't the sound of engines, but the rhythmic, synchronized pounding of heavy hooves echo-striking against the asphalt.

The Deeproot delegation had arrived.

They didn't fit the pristine, sterile elegance of Valerian Heights. They shattered it completely.

Riding at the head of a formidable procession of massive, dark warhorses, the warriors of the deep wilderness swept into the park avenue. They were draped in dark, weathered leathers, furs, and hand-forged steel armor that bore the deep battle scars of the wild frontier. They carried an undeniable, primal authority that made the sleek werewolf guards of our city shrink back in instinctual deference.

And at the very center of the formation rode Alpha Rowan Thorne.

My breath hitched violently in my throat.

Rowan Thorne was a force of nature carved from ancient timber and granite. He was broad-shouldered, towering, and exuded an effortless, predatory grace that made Julian's polished charm look utterly hollow by comparison. His dark hair was slightly wind-disheveled, framing a sharp, chiseled jawline marked by a faint scar along his cheekbone. He wore no polished suit, no formal medals... only rugged leather and a heavy mantle of dark fur that draped over his massive chest.

As his procession moved along the stone pathway where my team stood, a rich, suffocating fragrance washed over the entire plaza. It wasn't the sweet, refined mint and jasmine that usually invaded my senses when Julian was near.

It was the raw, intoxicating scent of damp pine, crushed cedar, rain-soaked earth, and wild wood smoke.

The fragrance hit my lungs like a tidal wave, making my head spin and my heart hammer wildly against my ribs. My hands trembled as I gripped the handle of my trowel, my gaze magnetically drawn to the dark Alpha on the warhorse.

Rowan turned his head slowly, his sharp gaze cutting through the crowd of gaping onlookers. His posture was commanding, his expression an unreadable mask of cold, ancient authority... until his eyes swept over the landscaping team.

Suddenly, his gaze locked directly onto mine.

ZAP.

A violent, blinding jolt of static electricity tore through the air, striking me squarely in the chest with the force of a physical impact. A sharp gasp tore from my lips as my knees buckled. I stumbled backward, my trowel clattering onto the cobblestones as a searing, white-hot wave of energy rippled through my veins from the crown of my head down to my fingertips.

It was a feeling I knew all too well... yet impossible.

The undeniable, ferocious pull of a mate bond slammed into my soul, so intense it made my vision blur.

Rowan reined in his heavy mount, bringing the entire procession to a sudden halt right in front of our garden bed. The massive dark horse snorted, stamping its hoof against the stone, but Rowan didn't move an inch.

His fierce, piercing brown eyes... warm as burning amber and deep as the primeval forest... burned straight into mine. His nostrils flared slightly as he inhaled, his pupils dilating until the gold in his eyes was almost swallowed by darkness.

I couldn't move. I couldn't breathe. The air between us vibrated with a dangerous, electric tension that crackled so loudly I was certain everyone around us could hear it.

No... no, this is impossible...

My mind spun in sheer, paralyzed terror as I clutched my chest, feeling my heart beating like a trapped bird.

How can I feel a mate pull right now? Julian is my fated mate... the Moon Goddess only grants one mate... so why is this savage Alpha making my entire body ignite?

Rowan shifted in his saddle, his broad chest rising and falling heavily as he stared down at me. The cold, indifferent mask he wore for the city shattered, replaced by a raw, hungry intensity that sent a violent shiver down my spine.

He didn't look away. He didn't hide behind composure or polite society manners like Julian had done in the café. He stared at me openly, his gaze tracing my face, my lips, and my trembling frame with a possessive, primal ownership that made my skin burn.

"Ivy?" Mia's voice sounded muffled, distant, as if she were shouting underwater. "Ivy, what's wrong? You're shaking..."

I couldn't answer her. I was trapped in the gravity of Rowan Thorne's brown eyes, feeling the mysterious, ancient breeze inside my veins roar into a wild, uncontrollable storm. Small green shoots began to twitch beneath the damp soil near my boots, reacting to the sudden spike of power in my blood, but I was too terrified to notice.

Rowan leaned forward slightly over his horse's mane, his deep, resonant voice cutting through the stillness like thunder over distant hills.

"Who are you, little flower?" he growled softly, the words meant for my ears alone, carrying a weight that felt like a sacred decree.

Before I could gather enough air to speak, the crisp, icy scent of mint and cold jasmine suddenly cut through the heavy forest air like a blade.

"Alpha Thorne," a rigid, authoritative voice boomed from the grand steps of the pavilion.

Julian Vance stood at the top of the stairs, surrounded by his elite guard. His posture was stiff, his jaw tightly clenched, and his blue eyes were burning with a dark, volatile rage as he looked down at Rowan... and then at me.

The decennial festival had barely begun, but the air in Valerian Heights was already tasting like war.

The small living room felt like a pressure cooker about to blow a hole straight through the roof. The air was so thick with hatred, fear, and raw Alpha power that it was hard to pull oxygen into my lungs. The floorboards beneath my feet groaned quietly, as if the wood itself knew that two deadly monsters were standing on top of it.Julian’s face was completely twisted with rage. The polished, handsome Alpha who always cared about his clean suit and immaculate hair was gone. In his place was a desperate, unhinged man whose wolf was clawing violently beneath his skin. His dark eyes had turned into a burning, molten gold, and a low growl vibrated in the back of his throat... a deep, terrifying sound that rattled the glass windows in their frames."You dare stand in this house and tell me she's yours?" They looked ready to rip each other apart right on top of our rug.My mother gasped, taking a quick step in front of me to shield my body with her own."Alpha Vance..." my mother whispered, her voice shaking as she tried to stay calm. "What is the meaning of this?"Julian forced a tight, fake smile onto his face, though his eyes remained completely dark and angry. "Mrs. Sterling, please step outside. My business is with your daughter. I politely ask you to leave the house for your own safety."My mother did not move an inch. Her wolf instincts were screaming at her that two dangerous, an

Chapter Title: First BlessingThe morning sun beat down hard on the big outdoor stadium, making long shadows on the stone seats where thousands of people held their breath. The air felt heavy and tense. This had nothing to do with the upcoming sports games and everything to do with the giant, powerful leader standing near the front VIP section.Alpha Julian Vance stood in the middle of the high stage, gripping the edges of the wooden stand so tightly his knuckles turned white. His neat military jacket could not hide how much his shoulders were shaking. Ever since Rowan Thorne had walked into the courtyard and stared right at my hiding spot, Julian's sharp blue eyes had been looking back and forth between the foreign Alpha and me.He knew something was wrong. He could smell the faint scent of pine trees and damp earth on the air, and he had seen the hungry look in Rowan's gold eyes. But his stubborn pureblood mind refused to believe the impossible truth: that an outside Alpha shared a

The memory of his voice still echoed against the walls of my skull like a persistent, rhythmic drumbeat.“You can stop running around looking for a mate, little Dryad. The search is over. You're already mine.”I stared at my reflection in the small washroom mirror, my hands trembling as I buttoned up my practical, dark canvas event-staff tunic. The shimmering emerald silk gown I had worn to last night's disastrous banquet was draped neatly over a chair behind me—a glittering reminder of a world I no longer fit into.I knew the truth now. I couldn't un-feel the electric resonance of the bond. Rowan Thorne wasn't just a savage foreign Alpha; he was my second fated mate.Stepping out of the washroom and back into the central amphitheater courtyard, my nerves were completely frayed. My mind was frantically rewinding and replaying every second of the previous night in the moonlit gardens, trying to figure out how I was possibly going to survive a world where two supreme Alphas were bo

The suffocating weight of the grand ballroom finally became too much to bear. While the crystal chandeliers continued to cast their brilliant, artificial diamond-light over the sea of dancing aristocrats, political schemers, and wealthy pureblood maidens, my chest felt tight and constricted. The air inside was a toxic cocktail of heavy French perfumes, fake smiles, and the suffocating, possessive aura of Alpha Julian Vance burning a hole in the back of my head from his high velvet throne.Every time I caught a glimpse of Julian’s manic expression... every time Lady Genevieve batted her eyelashes and leaned too close to his shoulder... my skin crawled. I hadn't come to the festival to play the pathetic, heartbroken outcast waiting for crumbs of affection. But watching the absolute hypocrisy of high-society pack politics parading around as "tradition" made me sick to my stomach.Without a word to Mia or Dion, who were busy sampling the exotic desserts near the buffet, I quietly slipped
