Fiona's pov

“Fiona.”

Logan’s voice came gently, a whisper close to my ear. I blinked, realizing I’d been staring too long at the sky outside the broken war room’s windows. I turned to him, and his face softened.

“You’re bleeding,” he said, brushing his thumb along the edge of my wrist.

I looked down. Thin crimson lines traced through the runes on my skin, they weren’t cuts. They were… blooming. Like the magic was still alive and moving beneath my skin, and my blood was just catching up.

“I’m fine,” I said quietly.

He didn’t believe me. I didn’t expect him to.

Logan leaned in, resting his forehead gently against mine. “You’ve barely slept.”

“I can’t,” I murmured. “Not yet. Not until I know what comes next.”

“I’m here,” he said. “We’ll figure it out.”

I nodded, though the weight of what I carried didn’t feel any lighter. Even without the veiled woman, the war wasn’t over. Magic like that, realm-deep and world-altering, didn’t just disappear. It echoed.

And I could feel it. Every time I

  • A DEAL WITH THE ALPHA DEVIL   Chapter sixty three: Twin of time

Fiona's pov “Something’s wrong,” Kael said.He was crouched in the dead grass, gloved fingers brushing the edge of the circular stone embedded in the earth. The seal was so faded it barely looked like anything at all, just another forgotten mark worn down by wind and time. But I could feel it.I didn’t need to see the runes. I could feel them under my skin.I stepped closer, ignoring the sharp whisper of Logan’s warning behind me.“Careful,” he said, rising to his feet.I went to my knees in the dust beside Kael. The seal was smooth, unnaturally so, and ice-cold under my fingertips. A low vibration hummed through it, like a heartbeat buried miles deep.“This is it,” I whispered.“The tether?” Nira asked quietly, standing at Logan’s side.I nodded. “The twin of time. It’s underneath us.”Logan’s hand settled on my shoulder. “And what exactly does that mean?”I looked up at him.“It means the other half of the first realm. The one Mia corrupted. The one I sealed.” I swallowed. “That re

Fiona's pov “You brought the key,” the veiled woman said again, voice smooth as silk, but now it was laced with hunger. And something worse.Certainty.I stepped forward, every hair on my arms standing on end. The runes beneath my skin burned like living fire. They were responding to her, recognizing her as something ancient. Something dangerous.“I didn’t bring the key,” I said, trying to steady my breathing. “I am the key. But you already knew that, didn’t you?”Her smile was thin. Not amused, delighted. “Yes. That’s why you’re still alive.”Logan moved to my side, silent and fierce. Rowan flanked my other. For the first time, we stood united not as soldiers, not as rebels but as something closer to legend.“I sealed the realm,” I said, lifting my voice above the rising hum of the ley lines. “You shouldn’t be here.”“I shouldn’t have ever been caged,” she said sharply, eyes flaring black. “Do you think I didn’t leave pieces of myself scattered through every tether? Every story? Eve

Fiona's pov "You're real," Logan said, breathless, like he wasn’t sure if touching me would make me vanish again. His hands hovered at my shoulders. "Tell me I’m not dreaming.""You’re not." I reached up, brushed my thumb over the bruise on his cheek. “Though you could really use a nap.”He let out a strangled half-laugh, half-sob, then pulled me into him again, burying his face in my neck. "I thought I lost you.""I thought I lost me,” I whispered back.Behind us, someone cleared their throat. Rowan.“How did you get out?” he asked, voice clipped, but his eyes were sharp and calculating. Worried.“I didn’t break the seal,” I said, pulling away from Logan slowly. “I became part of it and then I bent it.”“You bent a realm of time-void magic,” Lila said, stunned.“I didn’t bend the realm,” I corrected gently. “I bent myself. The realm just followed.”Logan’s hand stayed laced with mine like he didn’t trust the moment not to end. I didn’t blame him. Part of me still felt like I was fli

“Fiona…”His name lingered in my chest like an echo I wasn’t ready to silence. The silence that followed his exit was louder than any scream. It throbbed in the air. It pounded in my ribs. The moment Logan vanished, something inside me cracked not broken like glass, not shattered like hope but split, like a bone that had to be set wrong before it healed right. He was gone and I was still here, Mia was watching me with that unreadable expression, one part triumph, one part something else… envy, maybe?“I expected tears,” she said after a moment, cocking her head like a curious predator. “Regret, maybe. You really surprised me, Fiona.”“I surprise myself,” I muttered, my voice hoarse. “But I’m not done yet.”She narrowed her eyes. “You're tethered to this realm. The door's closed. You sealed it yourself. So unless you're planning to grow wings or invent time travel, I think we're both done.”I took a slow breath. The runes across my skin pulsed with low light, rhythm steady like a hear

Fiona's pov “Where are we?”My voice sliced raw, the air like ash scraping down my throat. Logan lay beside me, eyes flickering open as we both staggered upright.“I don’t know,” he said, slowly. “But she’s here.”“Mia,” I breathed. The portal had ripped us through something jagged. Not just shadow magic but ancient magic this time. This place didn’t feel like a battlefield. It felt like a tomb rather in a hollow land, all dark stone and eerie silence. The sky above was ink-black, no stars, just a swirling storm of silver smoke.Logan reached for my arm. “Are you hurt?”“I don’t think so.” I looked down. My skin was marked with faint runes now, glowing dimly under the fabric of my sleeve. “But something’s... off.”“We were pulled through her anchor spell,” he said. “It might’ve marked you.”A sound behind us passed soft Like fabric dragging over bone.We turned.Mia stepped out of the shadows, robes trailing like spider silk, and eyes blazing with power she didn’t have before.“You s
