Jasmine POV

I looked at my phone again. My dad’s name was all over the missed calls and unread messages. He had been trying to reach me for days. Maybe weeks. I just couldn’t answer. I couldn’t face him. I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t want to hear him tell me he was ashamed. I didn’t want him to ask questions I couldn’t answer.

But tonight, something in me shifted. I didn’t want to hide anymore. I didn’t want to cry in corners or lie in bed all day. I didn’t want to be afraid of the people who said mean things or looked at me like I was dirt.

I picked up my phone and opened the text box. My fingers moved slowly.

“Coming home. See you soon.”

I hit send before I changed my mind.

I stood up from the bed and walked to the wardrobe. I didn’t want to dress like I was going to a red carpet. I didn’t want to look too clean or too rough. I just wanted to feel covered and safe..I pulled out a pair of black jeans. Tight but comfortable. I grabbed a black hoodie too and some ankle boots. I

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 71

Jasmine’s POVThe pain did not leave me. Each day felt worse. My body burned, my stomach twisted, and my head felt heavy. I begged Daniel many times to take me to a hospital, but he only said the same words.“You don’t need a hospital, Jasmine. The doctor comes here. You’ll be fine. Just rest.”But I wasn’t fine. I knew it. I felt it. The pain stabbed deeper every night, like something inside me was tearing apart. I would cry into my pillow, gripping the sheets, whispering, please, God, don’t let me die here. One evening, as Daniel fed the baby, I tried to stand but my knees wobbled and the room spun. I took one step, then another, but suddenly the ground pulled me down. My body hit the floor, and darkness swallowed me.When I opened my eyes, I heard beeping. A soft, steady sound. My body felt heavy, but the pain was different. Not sharp, not wild. Just dull. I blinked hard and saw white walls, bright lights, and a strange smell that was not our house.I realized I was in a hospital.

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 70

Jasmine’s POVI sat in the living room, folding the same pile of clothes for the third time. The TV was on, but the sound felt far away. My days had started to look the same: wake up, clean, cook, wash, repeat. Every moment with Daniel felt strange. It was like he had pulled me out of my own life and placed me into a cage. I didn’t feel like myself anymore. I felt like some housewife he had created, a woman who didn’t have a say.I pressed the towel tighter in my hands. I wanted to scream. I should've listened to the old woman and stayed back in the cottage. But Daniel had promised to help me and that's the reason I followed him.The front door opened, and Daniel walked in. He dropped his keys on the table and looked around like he was inspecting me.“You’re home early,” I said, trying to sound normal.“Yeah,” he replied, pulling off his jacket. “How was your day?”I stared at him. How was my day? I wanted to say boring, empty, lifeless. Instead, I said, “It was fine.”He walked over

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 68

Jasmine’s POVWhen the man said his name was Daniel, something inside me twisted. The name felt heavy, like I should know it, but my mind was empty. I kept staring at him, searching for something familiar, but nothing came. The old woman beside me held my hand tighter. She did not trust him. I could feel it. She looked at him with sharp eyes, but he only smiled at me.“You don’t remember me, do you?” he asked softly.I shook my head. “No. I don’t. I don’t remember anything. I don’t know who you are.”He sighed, as if hurt by my words. “I thought so. I hoped seeing me might bring something back.”I swallowed hard. “You know me? You know who I am?”His eyes softened. “Yes. You are my wife. We were married. We lived together happily before that day. The morning of the accident took you away from me. I searched everywhere. I thought I lost you forever.”I froze. My breath caught. “Your… wife?”He nodded. “Yes. You are my wife, Jasmine.”The name hit me like a sudden light. Jasmine. The n

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 67

Author’s POVThe room was quiet except for the soft sound of a clock on the wall. A small window let in a thin line of light. On the bed lay Jasmine. Her body was wrapped in bandages. Her arms were weak and head throbbed. Her eyes opened slowly. At first, the light stung. She blinked many times as she tried to move her lips but no words came out.She looked around taking in her surroundings. The room was small, the walls were plain. A table stood by the corner with a bowl and a lamp. She tried to sit up but her body would not obey. Her heart began to beat fast. Fear rushed through her. She whispered weakly.“Where… where am I?”No answer came. She turned her head and saw a door. It was half open but heard footsteps outside. The door opened wider, and an old woman stepped in. Her hair was white. Her hands carried a tray with a cup and a cloth. The woman stopped when she saw Jasmine’s eyes open. Her own eyes grew wide.“You are awake,” the old woman said softly. “Thank God, you are awa

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 66

Blake’s POVI sat in the back of the car as my father drove me home from the hospital. My body was weak, but my mind was awake. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw Jasmine. I saw her sitting next to me in the car that day. I heard her warning of the smell of the gas in the car. I remembered the fear when the car lost control. I remembered the truck coming towards us, trying effortlessly to pull the brakes but it was useless.I was rescued. I woke up in the hospital. But Jasmine… Jasmine was not there.I asked the officers who came to question me. I asked them where she was.One officer looked at me. He held his cap in his hands and spoke slowly.“She was not in the car when we arrived,” he said.I stared at him. “What do you mean she was not in the car? She was right there. She was sitting beside me. If you pulled me out, you should have pulled her out too.”Another officer sighed. He looked away. “It means she must have gotten out before we arrived. Maybe she tried to escape. Maybe s

  • A Deal With Mr.Remington   Chapter 65

Jasmine’s POVThe next morning, Blake moved around the room quietly. I watched him from the bed. He pulled clothes out of the closet and placed them neatly into the bag. His back was turned to me most of the time. I wanted to say something but the words didn’t come. I just sat there and looked at him while he zipped the bag shut.I kept thinking about what I said to him last night. I had blamed him when it wasn’t really his fault. I knew that now, but the thought of actually saying sorry made my chest feel tight. My pride stood there like a wall between us.“Ready?” he asked without looking at me.I nodded and stood up. “Yeah.”We left the hotel room and walked down the hallway. I could hear our footsteps and nothing else. No talking, no joking like before. Just the sound of our shoes against the floor. When we reached the car, Blake opened the trunk and placed the bag inside. I stood there with my hands inside my pockets, staring at the ground.I wanted to speak, but he didn’t look
