Clara POV

Lucia won't even make me speak; she kept asking if I was fine, and to calm her down I replied softly, "I'm fine, you don't have to be worried about me..."

"I can tell you are not fine, Clara. I know you very well from atom. I can tell when you are stuck with something, so talk to me..." Lucia refused to agree with what I had said, and why should she? She had seen how my face went pale when I saw the message sent by the unknown number.

I took a deep breath before replying, "You know what? Why don't we meet somewhere by tomorrow so we get to talk? To be honest, I'm not in a good condition."

"You are not in a good condition..." Lucia's voice almost lost it as she heard those words from me. "There's no need meeting tomorrow. Where are you now so I can come pick you up? Your safety at this point really matters."

I didn't know why things were beginning to ignite this way, but I could tell for sure that Lucia is becoming an angel in my life, but at the same time I'm scared of putting her life in danger.

I know how brutal the crime boss is. I know what he can do if he is being disobeyed, and he won't mind taking down anything that stood in his way that would disrupt his interests. And if it was to report him to the police, then that is another joke, because this mysterious crime boss has a lot of insiders as police that do work for him.

Realizing what could unravel if this thing goes wrong, I shook my head dismissively while holding my phone and while talking to Lucia, as I replied, "Don't worry, there's no need."

And when I said these words, I laughed to ease the tension before adding, "Lucia, could you just forget about what I had said to you? I'm okay, there's nothing wrong with me."

All that I was doing at the moment was to ease the tension inside Lucia's mind. I know how caring she was and how reactive she could be if she hears I'm in trouble. She had countlessly done unimaginable things for me when we were still in college. That bond could never fail; we are just like sisters from different mothers.

"Are you insane, Clara? Do you think I'm playing with you? Don't get me angry. Tell me your damn location; let me come pick you up..." Lucia barked at me like I was a child, though she is two years older than me.

And just like the quickly frightened type I was, I submitted to her words and gave her my location, and immediately after I did, the call ended.

"What have I done?" I muttered under my breath as the light from my phone screen shone on my face.

And just like before, Otis, my little dog, was seated at the couch staring at me. He didn't move; he was just staring like he had sensed my uneasiness or the already psycho part of me going berserk.

I was silent for almost twenty minutes, staring at my dog and the ceiling, and just then, I heard my phone begin to ring, and the caller was Lucia.

How could she have gotten here so fast?

I had already concluded one thing, and that thing is she must be in the location that I had sent to her, which was why she was calling.

I picked up the call, and just as I was about to answer the call, a knock sounded on my door.

My gaze instantly shifted to my door. My hand dropped with my phone, but my grip was still holding my phone, and I didn't even hear what Lucia was saying before I walked to the door.

I had already concluded she could be the one, and with that, I opened the door while asking, "Is that you, Lucia?"

The moment the door pushed open, two hefty men stepped into my house. I was confused. Who could they be? How had they known here?

Though this thought of confusion was soon cut short when one among the two hefty men spoke: "Where is Alaric?"

And in that instant, I knew why these men were here. Even though I had changed apartments more than three times, those men that Alaric was owing kept locating me. Even when I kept telling them that I knew nothing of his whereabouts, all I got in return was beatings, and sometimes they even went ahead to take all my money and any valuable things the could find.

"Answer me, bitch... Where the hell is your man?" The man who had spoken before repeated himself, his face filled with anger so much that my legs were already shaking.

"I don't know where he is," I repeated.

The man shifted his gaze to his colleague, and they both chuckled with a dark snear on their faces. After this silent telepathic conversation the man had with his colleague, he shifted his gaze back to me as he said furiously, "Do you think I'm playing around? Where the hell is Alaric? If you won't tell me, then you will have the price to pay. Maybe leaving you with some marks would be worth it for him to come pay us the money he owes."

It's as though Alaric had borrowed money from every single person he knew in his life, because these guys kept coming with different faces and different stories.

"I've told you guys, I don't know where he is..." My lips trembled, and my dog began to bark.

Otis dashed forward to bite one of the men, but due to how small of a dog he was as a Chihuahua, he was easily kicked to the corner.

He shouted, and when I wanted to go get Otis, one of the men held my hand and dragged me back. "Let us be clear to you: we won't leave here without getting what your silly boyfriend borrowed from us, and if you can't give us, we would have no choice but to have fun with you."

The man who had spoken ended his words while licking his lips, and in that instant I knew what was about to happen or perhaps what was in his mind.

My eyes widened with fear.

I began stepping backward while trying to drag my hand off the man's grip, but he was too harsh and strong. And just then, a hard, loud, shattering sound of wood struck the man who was behind the other man holding my arm, and in that instant, the man dropped to the ground.

When I saw who had rendered the attack, I almost didn't believe it. It was Lucia.

  • A Debt With The Boss    All Over Me

Clara’s POVThe old woman seems to be very friendly, and I could only smile at all her words; I didn’t even know who she was.Derick, who was beside me, served the food on the table, and I kept wondering if there wasn’t any servant in the house that would do that. Another thing that was getting me very baffled was how I couldn’t see any servants around. The house was very massive, and with this luxury, it was expected to have a lot of servants.“Why aren’t you eating?” the old lady asked, and that was when I snapped out from my thoughts and began to eat.For the entire time, the boss didn’t say a word when he saw me, unlike him when he was used to meanly taunting words.“My name is Jenni, and I’m Lucas’s mother,” the old woman introduced herself.I became stunned. Why invite me to a dinner with his mother, and why was she acting so calm and friendly to me? Could he have told her what had happened, or could he have told her why he had kidnapped me? Because at this stage, this is clearl

  • A Debt With The Boss    An Hour To Dress

Clara POVTime flew by and I couldn't even tell what time it was at the moment. Not only was there not a window that could tell if it was evening or night, but I didn't have my phone on me that could tell me what time it could be or how I would know if it was the next day.It was all about guessing. If the ground gets a bit colder, it means it might be night, and when the coldness from the ground reduces, then it's afternoon. And that's how I kept track of time.Just like before, the door pushed open, but it wasn't the boss that was standing in front of it—it was Derick, the bouncer from the club.He didn't say anything; he was just standing in front of the door and staring at me. And then he began to take a step forward, and on reaching close to me, he brought out a key and unlocked the iron chain restraining my hands and legs. His huge, intimidating body stood before me, and with a deep voice, he instructed, "Stand. It's time for you to look presentable to the boss. He doesn't like

  • A Debt With The Boss    His Cruel Nature

Clara POVBelow me was a wet floor. Cold was cutting through my body like I was placed in a refrigerator, my legs were chained, my hands were chained as well, and the only light before me was from a bulb hanging from the ceiling. In this room there was no window, and not just that, the room was very small—like it was a prison. Though, that's exactly what I could see it as at the moment, and for the second time, I cried. What have I gotten myself into?"If you had listened to me and given me an answer, I wouldn't have made things hard for you. But as you have disobeyed me, I would have no choice than to do to you what I have prevented myself from doing to you the first day your boyfriend defrauded me."I was still in chains when he was speaking, and every breath I dragged into my lungs felt like needles poking me from the throat. I felt dry, couldn't even speak. Only God knows how long I have been chained here, and also from his words stating that "it took me long to wake up."Another

  • A Debt With The Boss    Where Sinners Gets Cleans

Clara POVA gun was being pointed at Lucia's head, and three other hefty men were standing behind the sofa where the boss had sat.Looking at Lucia and looking at my dog, who was in his hands, I was confused and couldn't speak. And not just that, Otis didn't appear to be aggressive at the boss; it's as though the had known each other from somewhere. Lucia's eyes were filled with fear as she stared at me, and the boss was sneering while staring at me as well."I've been waiting for a reply, and because I didn't get any, that's why I had come to ask for the reply myself," he said softly, as though he was trying his best to subdue his anger and trying to act nice. "So tell me, what was the answer? Do you prefer to be mine, or do you prefer to be the little bird in the cage?"Cage! The word "cage" repeated inside my head like a plague devouring me. Not only has this man tracked me down, he was also pointing a gun at my best friend's head—who had taken all risks just to help me.Realizing

  • A Debt With The Boss    Pretty Little Kitty

Clara POVWhen Lucia finally heard my own side of the story she was very disappointed in me, she couldn't reconcile that all those signs had been showing themselves to me that Alaric was nothing but a fraud, but I still didn't accept it because I was so blinded by love. But among all I had told her, the part where I had to pay five hundred thousand or give myself to the crime boss had really got her."What are you going to do now? Do you want to give yourself out to the crime boss?" she asked, her face filled with concern.I had also told her the offer that the crime boss had given to me, but she didn't accept that. She had seen it as slavery, and she won't allow me to embark on such a trade that requested my very own self.As she asked those questions, I didn't know what I was to tell her, neither did I have a choice to make at this point in time. I was confused."There's no way I would give myself to him." I shook my head dismissively as I said those words, and Lucia agreed with me.

Clara POV"Let her go now..." Lucia said, while holding the half of the shattered wood she had cracked on the other man's head. The man suddenly burst into anger after shifting his gaze and seeing that his colleague had passed out."How dare you! I will tear your skin into pieces of shreds!" he threatened, and before I knew it, he dragged me into his arms and strongly choked me with his hands."Do you prefer your friend to die, or are you going to drop that wood in your hands?" The man's cold voice sounded with a sneer tugging around his lips. His strangle around my neck was becoming so tight that I felt my breath glitching.I struggled, but with every try, his grip intensified. And just then, Otis, who had been kicked like a ball previously, ran toward the man's and bit one of his legs. "Ahh, you stupid dog!" He tried kicking Otis for the second time, but Otis didn't allow that to happen. And using this distraction, I slid myself away from the man's grip. When the man turned to chas
