Run, Lara, Run

Zayn’s mouth opens in an attempt to speak but no words come out. He takes a step away from me and laughs dryly as I try to touch his arm. “Why keep this from me?” His words are filled with hurt.

I feel awful that even though I was the same person that placed the bright smile on his face at first, I am also the one to wipe it off as quickly as an unexpected sneeze.

“I don’t get why you felt the need to keep this from me,” He says as he rubs the slightly grown stubble on his face. “Don’t you trust me?”

“No, that’s not it. Zayn, I trust you. I really do,” I reply to him, and an emotion flashed across his eyes.

“Then why keep this away from me?”

“I don’t…I don’t know, I was scared, I guess,” I tell him truthfully, stuttering a bit in the process.

“Lara, I don’t want you to ever be afraid to tell me anything. I’m on your side,” He holds my shoulders in comfort and I breathe out a sigh of relief. He’s not angry. Gosh, it makes me feel so good that he’s not pissed at me.

“I know, I know.
