It was Christmas day, the 25th of December. Werewolves were howling in celebration even though it was the sun that was up. Carols were being played and families were together. The air was warm, the sky was crystal blue, and the day was perfect. Where did the Werewolf Territory take the concept of Christmas when we believed in the Moon goddess? We adopted it thousands of years ago when humans once lived amongst us. They celebrated our holidays and so we did the same, as a show of respect. That was when the word Christmas entered the vocabulary of the Werewolf Territory. And since then, we have celebrated the day and passed on the tradition from generation to generation. The Christmas tree in the living room was lit up and gifts were scattered under it. All the kids were up and sat eagerly next to their presents, waiting for us to give them the go-ahead to start opening up them. The air was filled with anticipation and joy. A hot cup of chocolate sat in my hand and Zayn was drinki
“Come on, guys. You have Lara and me out here waiting like kids waiting to open up gifts on Christmas morning!” Zayn exclaimed, causing everyone to laugh. The door suddenly opened by itself and my eyes widened mildly. “Did that door just open by itself?” I took a step back, and Ashton and Zoe were amused by my reaction. The door opened wider and a golden retriever jumped out of the car, almost giving me a heart attack. “Gosh!” I exclaimed as I held Zayn’s arm tightly. “I’m not going to lie, I was a bit startled when that dog came out.” Zayn laughed lightly. “So that’s the surprise, huh? A doggie.” Zayn bend down and played with the dog. I had a small fear of dogs. One bit me when I was a kid and since then I have been terrified of them. No matter how cute and cuddly they were, I stayed my distance away from them. The golden retriever kept licking and jumping on Zayn like it had known him for years. “The doggie is a surprise but not for you guys, he’s for the kids.” Ashton
I breathe out a deep shaky sigh as I sit down in the chair at the back of the big classroom. My heart is beating hard against my chest and my eyes are darting to the students filling the room gradually, including Harper, my personal bully. She looks so pretty and her confidence is incredible. Her hair is long and lustrous, flowing to her shoulders in an impressive manner. She is higher class, the kind that mingles with the Alpha. I’m an omega, a low-ranked nobody, and Harper never fails to remind me of that every damn day. I hate her, and she knows, but she certainly doesn’t give a sh*t. This is my last class for today and then I can go home and finally get out of this hellhole. Today is also the last day of school, the next time that I would be in a classroom would be months from now. My anxiety is acting up and I don’t have my best friend with me today to defend me against sly insults from the other students. She’s the only one who makes going to this school worth it. She makes
As soon as our eyes meet, it’s like something magical happens. It’s the only way that I can describe it. His eyes are so vivid and deep that it feels like I could get lost in them forever. I knew I have always had a crush on Ashton, but what I feel right now is so much stronger. “I’m so sorry,” He apologizes as a small smile clings to his perfect lips. “I would be in the pool in the back,” Harper excuses herself, and Ashton nods, not giving her his full attention. She looks annoyed that Ashton is talking to me. This is the first time I have been so close to him, or to even talk to him. It feels unreal, almost as if it’s too good to be true and I’m dreaming. “Come with me to the kitchen so I can get you cleaned up?” He asks, and I nod slowly. He chuckles when he realizes that I am staring at him too much, and my face gets red from embarrassment. He reaches for my hand and leads me through the crowd of party-goers. When we finally reach the kitchen, he does something that causes m
Harvey Martins is the father of two children, Ashton Martins, and Serenity Martins. His wife died years ago when there was a war between the demon people and the werewolf people. It is said that he single handedly stopped the war. The man is historic, and a very legend. He is respected by most but feared by all. He might be well advanced in years now, but he is still strong enough to kill a demon in its prime. “Excuse me, everybody!” Someone says loudly at the same time that the music gets turned off. I sniffle as I break the hug with my sister and we all watch what is happening along with a crowd of other people. It’s one of Ashton’s friends, the one with blonde hair. He has a mic in his hand and Ashton is standing right by him. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s like I can feel Ashton’s emotions. He is very sad, and nervous. Maybe it's because I am his mate and there is some kind of connection between him and me. Whatever it is, it doesn't matter anymore. Zoe is right,
The amount of fear that I feel right now is overwhelming. I am alone and vulnerable, and I don’t even have the ability to fight back. The demon’s strength is remarkable, his hold on me is without mercy. “Let go of me!” I yell as I am dragged from behind the giant oak tree. “You see? I told you guys that I smelt someone,” The demon holding me says. He presses my body onto him, giving me no way to free myself. “Okay, you made your point, let her go,” One of his friends says, he sounds nervous. This is my first interaction with another species. All I have known is this town and my own people, werewolves. “Let her go? Seriously, Jose?” The one holding me tightly replies. His friends look uncomfortable with what is happening, and I continue to yell for help, hoping that someone would hear me and come to my rescue. I don’t want to die. From all the stories that I have been told about demons, I expected them to look like evil itself. I expected them to look disfigured and disgusting,
“No,” He laughs.“Definitely no. I can not allow that,” Zayn says to me as he runs his hand through his hair.“What do you mean by that?” I ask him angrily, but he seems amused by my anger.“Let me make this clear for you; you are a werewolf and this is demon territory. If my people stepping foot in your territory is an act of war, then you staying here would be war itself,” He explains to me.“Sounds dramatic,” I reply to him, and he stares at me curiously.“Dramatic would be me publicly announcing to my people that you are a werewolf spy that I caught trying to assassinate me,” He smirks, and my mouth drops open in shock.“You wouldn’t dare,” I reply to him, and he walks toward the bed and sits on the edge.“For centuries, everyone has seen demons as evil, and outcasts from heaven that serve the devil; so accusing you falsely would just be the icing on the cake,” He yawns after he speaks.“But you won’t do that,” I fold my arms on my chest. He smiles in response and then breathes ou
“I don’t need to give you a reason because I am your king, you will do what I wish,” Zayn says firmly to her without blinking, and she gulps.“And what do you wish, oh great king?” Her tone is slightly sarcastic.“That you’d give her a chance,” He replies to her smoothly, referring to me.“You know, I just don’t get it. Her people killed your father and you’re just okay with her being in your face,” Bunny spits the words out as she turns around to leave, but Zayn stops her by grabbing her arm.Wait, what?“Do not bring my father into this or I swear I would kill you with my bare hands,” He threatens her. A rogue tear escapes one of his darkened eyes and I can tell that he is triggered emotionally.“I think I should go,” I finally speak up, and both of them stare at me.There is no way I could convince Bunny to let me stay, she hates my guts with a hatred that is beyond me.“Let go of me,” Bunny jerks her arm out of Zayn’s grasp.“I am so sorry, this is all my fault,” I apologize to bo
