We ended up landing in a small clearing just outside the camp and walking in. It seemed just like any other camp on the outside, but the second we walked in, they all started looking all of us over like we were their next meal.

All of them were dressed casually, with no armor or weapons in sight. It was a little odd considering the only other camp I had been to had been the complete opposite, well, other than them looking at me like I was a juicy steak on their plate.

Xavier wrapped his arm around my waist, drawing me in close to his side as we made our way to the center of the camp to check in, and I gladly tucked myself in against his side. I was happy for it, especially as the prince started flirting with any female who walked by.

I just followed Xavier into the commander's tent. This was technically my mission, so I had to be there. Although I wasn't prepared for the sight that met us the second we opened the flaps of his tent. My whole face flushed red as I took in the several naked, writhing bodies, enjoying themselves on every available surface. Loud moans alongside the slap of flesh meeting flesh were the only things I could hear, other than the pounding rhythm of my heart.

I swallowed hard, looking up at Xavier, but he didn't show a single flicker of emotion at the scene in front of us; instead, he looked almost bored. The only thing that gave him away was the slight tightening of his arm around my waist as one of the males pulled out of a female and started making his way over towards us.

"Two pretty things like you are more than welcome to join." The man said with a grin as I felt his gaze slide over me, and I had to suppress a shiver as I wrapped my arms around Xavier's waist, unabashedly plastering myself to his side.

"We're both off limits." Xavier all but growled out as the man started to reach for me, causing him to drop his hand back to his side as he now looked up at Xavier with a raised eyebrow.

"I'd pay you for her. A pretty little thing like that looks like she could be rather fun, filled to the brim with cock. What's your type? Blondes, brunettes? Other pretty little redheads? I have them all, and will gladly allow you to use them as you please for just one good night with this pretty little thing." I looked up at the man's face as he once more dropped his gaze to look me over, much slower this time, causing me to shift uncomfortably, all but half hiding behind Xavier at this point.

"What part of off limits do you not understand?" Xavier growled down at him once more, but this time took a step into the smaller man's space as Bane let out a low growl, finally making the man actually back off. "We're here to check in for the second prince of the Celestial Kingdom, Prince Daydree. Give us four tents, and we'll leave you to your... business." Xavier told him in a short, clipped tone that told me he was already over this whole place when the girl that had been with the man a moment ago came sauntering up to us.

She traced a hand over the man's chest before looking up at Xavier, fluttering her long dark lashes as she took him in. Xavier didn't pay her any mind, but Bane snapped his teeth as she started to reach for his arm. Flaring his wings in agitation as he perched on Xavier's shoulder, golden eyes narrowing on the two of them. Nova, on the other hand, had her head tucked in tight against the side of my neck, and her eyes firmly shut.

'Let me know when you're out of this place. I don't want to see all of this.' Nova's soft voice drifted through my mind, and I had to fight not to smile at her.

'I didn't sign up for this either, yet here we are.' I threw back, and she giggled at me. I was glad, though, when the man gave us our tent assignments before Xavier all but shoved me out of the tent.

"What's the matter?" Lexi asked as I ran my sweaty palms over my thighs.

"I've never seen that much skin in my whole life..." I whispered before Xavier took my hand, quickly pulling me down the rows of tents as Lexi and Genie shared a look of confusion. I quickly stopped caring, though, when Xavier stopped in front of a rather large row of tents before starting down them. Apparently, we had the four that were all grouped together at the end of the row.

I was more than happy to follow him into one of them as the other three figured out which ones they wanted. I was honestly exhausted, but I knew we wouldn't be able to relax, not considering we still had to babysit the prince, and he already loudly announced that we were going to the bar in the center of the camp as soon as we were settled.

"Is it wrong to say that I would be far happier to just stay here with you all night?" I asked as I set my things down and turned towards Xavier. He was leaning back against the wooden post in the center of the tent, arms crossed over his wide chest as he watched me.

"Not at all, princess." I just grinned at him as I walked over, leaning in against his chest as I wrapped my arms around his waist. It felt good to finally have a moment alone with him. "I would be far happier laying you out on that bed and taking the night to properly enjoy you." He whispered as he leaned down, brushing his lips over that spot right under my ear, and instantly sending a shiver of pure need down my spine. God, that sounded far too good. Tipping my head to the side, I couldn't help but gasp as he nipped that spot before trailing kisses down the side of my neck. Taking his time, he made his way back up before claiming my lips in a searing kiss that had my toes curling and my hands fisting into the front of his shirt. His hand tugged at the leather strap that held my hair in the braid I had put it in this morning, pulling it free. Threading his fingers through the loose strands, he tugged gently, tipping my head back even further as he deepened the kiss, locking his other arm around my waist.

A throat clearing from the doorway had me pulling back from him, but he let out a low growl, nipping my lip before claiming one more kiss like he just couldn't get enough. Pulling back from me, he slowly shifted his sharp gaze over my shoulder at whoever was in that doorway, and I honestly almost pitied the person, considering the look Xavier was giving them promised nothing but cold murder. "You damn well better have a good reason for interrupting me; otherwise you have about five seconds to get out before I throw another knife at you, and this one won't be a warning," Xavier growled out, and I had a good idea of who was there, but I made no move to pull away from him. Instead, I just leaned in a little further against his chest, laying my cheek against the pounding rhythm of his heart as I tried to catch my breath.

"We're leaving to go to the bar, and you have to come with me." Came the prince's reply, and I almost took Xavier's knife and chucked it at the prick myself. He could go fuck himself for all I cared right now. "It's the one time you'll have to actually watch over me here after all." I sighed as I pushed away from Xavier to drop my swords and armor. He wasn't wrong, but it didn't mean that I was any happier about it. "Plus, it's not like they would mind that show in there. Hell, you could bend her over and fuck her right on the table; they would be glad for the show." Daydree let his gaze rove over my body, and I saw Xavier's resolve snap.

He closed the distance between the two of them in a matter of seconds, grabbing the prince by the throat and picking him up with a single hand. Daydree struggled, both hands gripping Xavier's wrist as his feet kicked for purchase, but it didn't faze Xavier in the slightest. "You still haven't figured out when to shut your fucking mouth." Xavier chided in that low, cold tone as Lexi and Genie came up beside me.

"What did he do this time?" Lexi questioned, looking over at me as she completely disregarded the prince at this point.

"Well, other than interrupting a damn good kiss, he just ran his mouth and told Xavier that he should just bend me over the table and fuck me in front of the whole bar before eye fucking me himself," I answered, looking back up at them to watch Xavier lean in and growl some low threat in a whisper that I couldn't make out, but whatever it was had the prince going entirely still in his grasp. That was when Xavier suddenly let go, dropping the prince to his ass in the dirt.

"I'm honestly surprised that he didn't end up with a knife in him just for interrupting after everything he's pulled," Genie said with a tilt of her head as she watched the prince cower back as Xavier stood over him.

"Probably because he would have to knock him out to keep him from screaming the whole way to the infirmary," I said as Xavier turned and started back towards us.

"That's fair, not to mention that we would have to babysit him there too, and personally I'd rather go to the bar. At least there we can get some alcohol and make having to babysit far more tolerable." Lexi added with a grin as Xavier came up to me.

He gently tucked a stray strand of my now loose hair back behind my ear, tracing his fingertips down my cheek before dropping his hand to take mine. "We might as well head over there. I need a drink if I'm going to be able to put up with his ass tonight and not kill him." Xavier said, giving me a slight tug as I smiled at him. He pulled me to his side once more, only to let go and wrap his arm back around my waist.

I was jostled awake when I was jerked hard against what felt like a stone wall. Blinking my eyes open, I looked up at Xavier, who had plastered me to his chest as those sharp eyes were focused on something directly behind me. The arm that had been previously draped over my waist was now held up, away from me, as his other held me firmly against his chest. "You're extremely sensitive for a Celestial." A masculine voice said from behind me, and I instantly had a fairly good idea of why I was in this current position. Slowly, Xavier's grip on me eased as he moved. "Stay put, Ari." He whispered to me as he moved into a crouch before standing to face the man who had been talking. I looked up to see that Xavier had a knife to the man's throat, holding it steady as he got to his feet. "What do you want?" Xavier demanded as I took the moment to quickly look the man over. He was covered in black from head to toe, with a matching black mask covering most of his face."The girls, of course. Do

We both went quiet after that, too caught up in our own thoughts to even talk. Although the further we flew without complaint from the others, the more comfortable I got. When we stopped in a clearing to let the familiars drink, the prince asked about it, and Xavier explained that the camp would not only be out of the worst parts of the forest, but also be nicer for the familiars, considering it would give everyone a comfortable amount of space to land. Luckily, even with Genie's knowledge of these woods, she completely backed Xavier, saying that it would be our best bet to actually not have to be on guard tonight, so in the end the prince hadn't even put up any sort of fight.By the time we landed, Xavier had actually relaxed once more, and I was really glad to see it. We landed in a large open field of thick lush grass. Rather than the starved strands at the edge of the forest, this grass was a dark lush green, and while it was still about waist-high, it didn't grip o

After Xavier had tied all of our bags down onto Bane, he gently unstrapped my swords from my shoulders before removing his own to stash on top of the bags for easy access, while still allowing us to be comfortable on the long flight. Then he held his hand out to me to take, pulling me to my feet for just a moment. He turned me to face him before sitting back down with me on his lap now. I was more than happy to lean in against his chest as he slowly looked over my face, gently brushing his thumb over my cheek as he carefully inspected every inch of my exposed skin. "Did any of those rocks hit you?" I couldn't help but to smile as I leaned into him a little further. "I'm fine, Xavier." As much as I wanted to tell him that he already damn well knew I was fine, considering he had shielded me from the worst of it. I loved the fact that he still checked. It made me feel like he actually, genuinely cared. "Good, then try to get some more rest while you can, princess." He whispered to me,

I hadn't even so much as twitched until Genie gently shook me awake early that next morning. I just blinked up at her for a moment as she yawned. It was still dark out, but the moon was hanging very low in the sky now, telling me that dawn wasn't far off."Go back to bed, Genie. It's going to take me a minute to get up." I whispered to her, trying my hardest not to wake Xavier up, and she just nodded to me with a tired smile before standing up to head back over to her bedroll as I went about the task of attempting to remove myself from Xavier's hold. It took me a minute, but I managed to slip out of his grasp, keeping his cloak as I wrapped it around myself further to keep a barrier between me and the frigid morning air. My breath came out in frozen little puffs as I went about piling a couple more logs onto the fire and slowly took everyone in as I sat there stoking the flames. The prince was absolutely passed out with a small puddle of drool under his cheek as he snored softly. His

It wasn't long before the prince came all but running back to camp with his tail now firmly tucked between his legs as Xavier just leisurely strode along behind him, hands in the pockets of his sleep pants with his muscular chest on full display. I couldn't help but to grin as I watched the two of them from where I had curled up under the covers in front of the fire. It wasn't cold, but it was definitely far cooler now that the sun had fully set. Nova was happily curled up by my feet under the covers as Bane came running up, burrowing his way under the covers behind her to curl in around her small frame. I just smiled as, not long after, I felt the blanket shift behind me as Xavier slipped under it with me. "We should be safe here for the night. There isn't much of a point in posting guards tonight. Just try to get as much sleep as possible tonight. It's probably the only time we won't have to post guards until we get to the camp." Xavier said to the whole group before lying down be

Ari was still completely out as I stepped back into my room. She clutched the pillow I had replaced myself with to her chest as she snored softly. There was so much I wanted to say about her little, optimistic view of this world.
