Chapter 1

It was getting dark in the evening, University gates were closed now, road lamps were starting to illuminate now and vehicles on the road were getting less. A girl in a peach color dress was standing in front of the college gate. Her hazel brown eyes were filled with tears and her pale hands were trembling. She was anxiously waiting for somebody. After some time she called that someone but he didn't pick up her call. She looked at her phone and then towards the road. But there was no sign of him and he was also not answering his calls.

After some more minutes, the watchman of the college came to her and said," It's getting dark and I'm also going home if your friend is not coming. Go grab a taxi. You should not stay here at night, it's dangerous."

She thought for a while and started walking towards the road and hailed a taxi. Her beautiful eyes were misty with tears. She was waiting for her boyfriend for two hours.

Today was a freshers party in her college and he promised that he'll come to pick her up.

But he didn't show up.

.

.

She didn't know what happened between them?

Why has he behaved so rudely to her for so many weeks?

Everything was so good between them then what happened suddenly?

Is he bored of her or has he found someone else?

She was having many kinds of thoughts but couldn't pinpoint what had gone wrong?

She took a taxi to her rented room.

Her name is Kriti. She is a 23-year-old college girl. She was a beautiful-looking girl with long black silky hair. Her hazel brown eyes were her main asset, her complexion was wheaty fair. She was not that tall, not much short, just 5ft. and her figure was just perfect for her height. She was completing her post-graduation from city K. There were two reasons for choosing city K to complete her studies. The first one was that her family does not want to send her alone to the city which was far away from their town and also they can't afford a big university as she was from a middle-class conservative family.

And the second and most important reason was her boyfriend, Aadi. They were in a long-distance relationship for three years. So now she wanted to experience a normal relationship and quality time with her love.

.

But not every dream is as beautiful as it seems.

.

She was crying until she reached her room.

She took off her high heels and changed her clothes. When she looked at her haggard self in the mirror she started sobbing again. She controlled her emotions and washed her face. She checked her phone again but there were no calls or messages from Aadi. She was so tired after all this. She didn't want to eat anything so she laid down on her bed and started thinking about her beautiful past.

.

.

They met through a social media app but it was a sudden kind of attachment between them that ended up as a long-distance relationship. They used to talk for hours without getting bored.

Even though they can't meet in person that much because of Kriti's family. She would always sneak from her city to his just to meet him and sometimes he would come to her home when her family was out of town.

They were so comfortable with each other.

She agreed to his proposal in the call. He was so supportive and nice to her. Slowly she became so dependent on him. Her every decision in her life started revolving around him. He was not only her boyfriend but also her sunshine, her best friend, her mentor. He was mature and she was clumsy; they were the perfect couple.

But nothing is perfect in this world; everything has its flaws.

Her train of thought broke with a loud ringtone of her phone. She stood up from her bed and found her purse. She unwillingly took out the phone from her purse. She didn't want to talk to anyone at this moment. But when she looked at the caller's name her face instantly lit up and all her grievances fled from the window. It was Aadi. She picked up the call immediately.

On the call…

He said with an irritated tone," Why did you call so many times? If I'm not picking calls at two or three calls it means I'm busy. Can't you understand a little thing ?"

Hearing his rude tone a pain occurred in her heart and she said in a low and sad tone," You promised you will pick me up from my college today, why didn't you come?"

Aadi stopped for a moment and said carelessly," Oh! I'm sorry I forgot about that. Suraj came back from his duty out of town so I have to pick him up from the station."

Kriti became enraged after listening to his lame excuse, she yelled at him," At least you should have told me if you were not coming.  Why did you make me wait for you there? I was waiting for two hours straight. You even ignored my calls."

He said infuriatingly," I didn't said you to wait for me. If I didn't come for some time you should have called a taxi. Don't you know the way home? You are not a 5-year-old kid."

Tears welled up in her eyes and she said," What do you mean you didn't say to wait? You promised that you would come, that's why I was waiting for you."

Aadi said in a sarcastic tone," Oh now stop your melodrama. Don't you have many male friends who have bikes? Why didn't you take a lift? They would love to send you home after all."

Kriti said tearing up," Why are you talking like this? I have male friends but I never got too close to them because you don't like it."

Aadi said with a frustrating, deep sigh," I know what you do and what not. I'm not a  fool. So stop your pretense as you care about me  ."

Kriti got puzzled now," What do you know? What are you talking about? If anything is bothering you, tell me."

She heard someone calling him from behind. He said," I don't want to talk about anything, Suraj is calling me. Let's talk tomorrow with a cool mind. Go to sleep Bye"

And with this word he hung up the call.

She was hurting so much because of his nonchalant behavior like he didn't care about her. She always knew that he loved his family and friends. But he never ditched her for them.

She lay down on her bed and covered herself with a blanket and stared at the ceiling blankly. Her mind was baffling around Aadi's word why he was talking like something was wrong. Did she make any mistakes?  She didn't when she fell into a deep slumber. She was so tired after this emotional rollercoaster.
