Kayla's pov

When Adrian and I stepped into our assigned room, the first thing my eyes landed on was the enormous bed in the center of the room. My heart immediately quickened as awkwardness thickened the air around us.

Adrian coughed lightly, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, that's certainly…roomy."

I swallowed hard, feeling the heat spread across my cheeks. "Too roomy. For you. Because you'll still be sleeping on the couch."

He chuckled, clearly trying to ease the sudden tension. "Come on, Kayla. We've shared a bed plenty of times."

"Yea, well things were different then," I snapped, quickly turning away before he could see my expression fully. "I'm not ready to go there again."

Adrian sighed softly, sounding disappointed but understanding. "All right. The couch it is. For now."

"For now?" I raised an eyebrow at him, trying to hide my fluttering pulse.

He flashed me a cocky grin. "I'm an optimist."

I rolled my eyes, fighting the warmth in my chest. "Drop your bags and go

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Lodging

Kayla's POVFrom the moment we stepped off the plane, I had felt like I couldn’t breathe. But i was beginning to feel even worse the longer Xavier kept staring at me like he wanted to steal me away. But thankfully, Adrian took away his attention. "Where’s your mother?" Adrian’s voice was cold as he looked over Mia and several of Xaviers warriors.I also noticed that she was not here, thank be the goddess because that woman was absolutely vile! Xavier offered him a stiff smile. “She’s unwell. Stayed back to rest.” I nearly scoffed. Unwell? Please. His mother hated my guts. There was no way she’d let herself be anywhere near me again unless she was forced. She was avoiding me. Plain and simple. Xavier’s gaze slid toward me. There was something oddly soft in his expression. I didn’t like it. “How does it feel to be back home, Kayla,” he said, voice low. My spine stiffened at his words. Home? This place would never be my home again. “Don’t call it that,” Adrian snapped, stepping be

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Reaching Xaviers pack

Kayla's POVI sat stiffly in my seat as Councilman Augustine smiled. It was smug, and cold. Ingrid had gone to the restroom earlier so I was left alone with this asshole.“So,” Augustine said, folding his hands and smiling with all the false warmth of a snake basking in the sun. “The shamed and rejected Luna returns to the place where everything fell apart. How poetic.”I clenched my jaw and turned my face toward the window, watching the clouds blur beneath us. I refused to give him the satisfaction of a reaction. He leaned in slightly. “I wonder the kind of rumours the southern people will start spreading about you after I tell them everythingI find..”I snapped my gaze back to him. “Is there a reason you’re still sitting here, or do you just enjoy being a walking pest?”His eyes narrowed, but he chuckled. “Sharp tongue. But I suppose that’s what happens when you’re hiding something.”“I’m not hiding anything,” I said evenly, even though my heartbeat was racing. “And even if I were,

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    The trip back to Xavier's pack

Kayla POV I hadn’t stepped foot on a private jet even in my imagination, even if i had fantasized about being in one, it was definitely not one this sleek, with ivory leather seats and black marble floors that gleamed under the soft overhead lighting. Adrian’s crest was engraved into the paneling near the cockpit, just in case anyone forgot who was in charge. I stood frozen at the entrance for a moment, breathing in that familiar sharp scent of aviation fuel and polished wood. It should’ve felt luxurious. But all I felt was dread.Adrian had decided that we needed to fly to my former pack instead of driving there like we did before. I think it was a show of power on Adrian's part. I heard that Xavier had left hours ago to prepare for our arrival.I definitely wasn't looking forward to it at all. “I saved you a seat,” Adrian said from somewhere behind me. His voice was hopeful like he was scared I'd refuse him. I turned my head and offered a polite nod. He stood at the aisle, gest

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Adrian, Augustine and Ingrid's secret

Adrian's pov The council room was still buzzing behind me as I stepped into my office and finally closed the door. The moment it clicked shut, I leaned back against it and let out a long breath I hadn’t realized I was holding.“It worked,” I muttered to myself. The lie about investigating Kayla’s bloodline to verify the prophecy had been risky—but it bought her time. It bought us time.I moved to my desk and loosened the collar of my shirt. My jacket was already flung over the back of the couch. Logan came in right after, eyebrows raised and expression unreadable as usual.“Smooth move in there,” he said, crossing his arms. “You had Augustine stumbling over his robes for a second.”I gave him a half-smile and dropped into my chair. “He was about to force Kayla into an impossible choice. Marry Hector or be banished. I couldn’t let that happen.”Logan nodded and leaned against the edge of the desk. “So what’s the real plan? You don’t actually think you’re going to find the prophecy’s a

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Kayla is in big trouble: The child of prophecy

Kayla's pov The child of prophecy? I was supposed to somehow find a way to give birth to the child fucking prophecy? Howw??I didn’t realize I was shaking until we got outside. The crisp air did little to calm my nerves, and my hands trembled so badly I had to clasp them together in front of me to make it stop. The court hearing was over, but its effects still pulsed through my body like aftershocks from an earthquake.Back to Xavier’s pack. The words echoed again and again in my mind. I felt sick.“That went better than expected,” Ingrid said quietly beside me, trying to keep her tone upbeat. “They didn’t banish you. That’s something.”I didn’t answer. My heart was pounding too loud for me to think clearly.Returning to Xavier’s pack wasn’t just a visit. It was a return to every scar I ever hid, to every humiliation and betrayal I tried to forget. He cheated. He lied. His mistress nearly killed me—and our child. Going back there felt like willingly walking back into a nightmare with

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Hector is freed

Adrian's pov The council chamber was stifling—thick with incense, thick with tension, thick with the sound of every last noble in the South muttering behind raised hands. I took my place at the defense table, Kayla on my left, Ingrid just behind her, and Hector flanked by two guards at my right. Shackles still circled his wrists—Augustine’s petty flourish, I suspected—but the key was already in my pocket. Councilman Augustine rose from the dais, crimson robe brushing the marble floor. His thin mouth curled into what he must have thought was a statesman’s smile. “Let us begin,” he proclaimed, voice echoing beneath the vaulted ceiling. “In light of Alpha Adrian’s recent… indisposition, this chamber must decide whether Lord Hector remains in custody. Treason against the alpha is not a trifle.” You’d know, I thought, watching his knuckles tighten on the podium. He spun toward the benches. “I propose that Lord Hector remain locked up until we conclude a thorough investigation.

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Reuniting with Kayla

Adrian's PovI slipped through the palace corridor just after dawn, boots still dust-stained from the northern roads. The familiar gilded sconces were dark, but the scent of beeswax polish and garden roses whispered home. First stop: Kayla. I hurried into my room—and froze. The sheets were still made, the pillow cold. No shawl draped over the chair, no shoes tossed haphazardly by the foot of the bed. She hadn’t been here all night.I would have expected that since we had made up, she would have moved back in to our room. So why wasn't she here. Panic lanced through me. I pivoted, crossing the marble hall in six long strides, and rapped on the door of the room she’d claimed after our last argument. “Kayla?” I called, forcing calm into my voice. “Can we talk?” No answer. I tried the latch—it was unlocked. I stepped inside. She stood by the dresser, dark hair spilling over her shoulders, fingers trembling around the ribbon of her under-dress. Eyes red, cheeks blotched. And the s
