Adrian’s POV

I didn’t plan on letting her go.

Not tonight. Not ever.

I held Kayla’s face between my hands, staring into those stormy eyes that I had come to crave more than anything else in this world. I had meant every word—I wasn’t letting her leave this room until she told me the truth.

But deep down, I knew I wasn’t just talking about tonight.

A dark part of me, the part that had already lost too much, whispered that I would never let her go at all.

And I felt guilty for it.

Kayla wasn’t some possession to be kept in a cage. But I couldn’t shake the possessiveness curling in my chest, the absolute refusal to lose her too.

Not after what I’d already lost.

She was shaking now, her breaths coming out in sharp, uneven gasps. Her hands clenched at her sides as if she was fighting some invisible war within herself.

And she looked scared.

That’s what threw me off the most.

What the hell was she so afraid of?

"Kayla," I murmured, my fingers tracing over her cheekbone. "Talk to me."

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    Another proposal

Ivonne's pov "Well, that’s very interesting, Miss Ivonne,” Marcellus said smugly, “because we actually came here to discuss your marriage with Justin.”I blinked as The words hit me like a slap. “My—what?” I sputtered. "With who?"" Hector went completely still beside me. Not tense. Frozen. Like he was debating between homicide and world domination.I couldn't blame him, because how was a man supposed to react when he was informed that his fiancee was engaged to another person. Before I could even start to think about what to do, Hector sat up higher in his seat and let out a low growl of warning. Lincoln muttered, “Oh, God…” Something told me he was familiar with his Uncle's temper and currently didn't want to be here. Mr. Clarkson flipped a folder open. “As you know, Miss Ivonne, the board has been considering a merger with the Mr Justin's Corporation—” Justin’s family. My stomach twisted. “—and Justin Ravel has expressed personal interest in you. He also told us th

Ivonne's POVHector’s eyes darkened and he said. "I will tell you what really happened that night." I honestly felt like my mind blanked out when Hector leaned down and whispered those words.Like what did he mean?! My brain was still stuck on that when everything else started moving at a dizzying speed. I should’ve demanded he explain. I should’ve asked how that made sense when Tessa had just shown a literal video of Solenne plotting with her uncle. But Hector didn’t give me a second to form a coherent thought as he started lifting me out of the Stand. Then the next thing I knew, Marcellus—still red with humiliation—stormed up to us, barking, “Hector! wait! You cannot just—” Hector turned on him with such cold authority that even I flinched. “Elder Marcellus,” Hector said, voice dangerously calm, “interrogate Lady Solenne first. Now. Unless you wish to defy the court you claim to represent.” Marcellus actually stepped back. “You can’t order—” Hector moved closer. “Try me.”

Ivonne's pov Tessa’s voice cracked through the suffocating silence.“I…think I know how Viera was killed. Or at least I know why her body is missing."The hall exploded.Chairs scraped. People gasped. Someone even swore under their breath. Every head turned sharply toward Tessa like the entire room had been yanked forward on a single string.Even Hector froze in his seat. Sevrin straightened. Leonard’s eyes widened like saucers.Marcellus’s eyes gleamed with triumph. “Go on, child. Tell us how Ivonne did it."Tessa swallowed hard, trembling, but she pushed through it.“I–I saw two men… smuggling something out of the manor that night,” she said, voice cracking. “It—It was past midnight. And the thing they were carrying… it looked like a body wrapped in cloth.”The court erupted again—not loud—but a low, horrified rumble that spread like shockwaves across the hall.My heart plummeted.No.She… she really gave in. She was really accusing me of killing Viera.I stared at Tessa, feeling s

Ivonne's pov "Tessa, Your family has sent a message this morning. They informed the court that if you lie… or withhold any truth… you will be disowned.” Marcellus had revealed with a smile. The man was shamelessly intimidating the poor girl in front of everyone and the sad thing was that no one could really stop him because it was completely legal.Tessa's eyes was now shining with tears but she did a good job of holding it back. I wanted to shout, to defend her, to tell her it wasn’t fair—but I knew what could happen if I spoke In this court without permission again. So I forced myself to stay still, but my fists curled so tightly they shook. Marcellus stepped closer to Tessa, voice dripping with false sympathy. “Now, Tessa… tell us. Tell the court what you saw Ivonne do. Tell us what happened to Lady Viera.” Tessa looked like she might faint. She stared at her feet, at the elders, then at me. Her chin trembled violently. “I… I didn’t…” She swallowed hard. “I didn’t see

Ivonne's pov I could feel my blood start to boil again but that lying little witch called Solenne kept crying even louder now. Marcellus finally turned back to me. “So Now, Ivonne… All we ask is where is Viera’s body?” My entire mind blanked. “What do you mean, ‘where’s her body’? You haven’t found it? How are you accusing me of murder when you don’t even—?” “Because Lycans,” he snapped impatiently, “have the ability to sense their bloodline. Viera’s family felt her absence — permanently — a while ago. She is gone from their bond. Dead.” My brow shot up Her family actually felt her die? Despite being accused of her murder, I couldn't help but think That it must have been heart wrenching for the family to feel that. That almost explains her brothers action earlier. Almost. “And,” Marcellus added with a triumphant sneer, “that was around the same moment Beta Leonard was found fleeing with your blood-soaked clothes. A coincidence?” I turned my eyes toward Hector again. He final

  • A Luna of Ice : Reborn for vengeance    The hearing

Ivonne POVI definitely couldn’t stop shaking now.Every step forward felt like my legs didn’t want to move, like my knees were hollow. Viera’s brother’s screams were still ringing in my ears — murderer, filthy murderer — with the same sharpness as if he were still in front of me. My heart hadn’t slowed down. It thumped violently, uneven, like it was trying to break out of my chest. The guards didn’t even give me time to breathe before pushing me into a massive dark doorway.I stumbled inside the hall, caught off guard by how huge it was — carved stone pillars, high ceilings, glowing torches casting shadows that made all the old Lycans seated inside look like creatures from a nightmare. Dozens of large, muscular, intimidating men turned toward me the second I appeared. They stopped talking. All of them. And just stared. And I swear, for a second, I couldn’t breathe. Every set of eyes was cold, disapproving, sharp, like I was something they’d scrape off their boots.I forced myself to
