“Mom?” I looked at the woman in front of me with wide eyes. “What are you doing here?”

“You're seeing your mother in months and the first thing you're doing is questioning her?” My mother hissed as she dropped her bag on the couch near her. “Who's this girl?”

“Greetings, Luna,” I heard Lucienne greet, and the crack in her voice was hard to miss, even for Olivia who stood behind my mother like a child who was hiding from being scolded.

“Son, I refuse to believe she's the reason you have been ignoring your fiance,” Mother growled, sizing Lucienne who was now stiff like a rock.
