Aurora Reynolds is now the mother of three, luna to her pack and head of the conclave. Life is perfect with her four mates and family, but rumours are spreading about her oldest son Luca. The alliance between the packs turn on each other, as her son isn’t an ordinary werewolf. He is special, with abilities no other wolf possesses. Some see him as the answer to all their problems others see him as a threat. After Luca is taken, her mates feel compelled to take revenge on anyone who hurts their family, friend, or foe.

“Violet, play nice with your cousins. Don’t boss them all around. They’re your friends, not minions,” I remind my daughter as she just huffs, rolling her green eyes before she struts off through the house, her long blonde hair swishing behind her with her cute little bow at the top. I rub my temples because as much as I like to say, I don’t know where she gets it from. That girl is all me. She’s five going on fifteen, and no matter how hard I try to freeze time, she just keeps racing ahead. Some days, I wish she had more of her father’s calm and rational way of thinking. But then that wouldn’t be her. After everything we’ve survived, that fire in her? She’s going to need it.
I follow after her, walking out onto the concrete patio, the sun's rays kissing my skin with the soft heat. The crystal blue waters of the pool below glitter in the sunlight. I watch Violet skip down the stairs, the palm trees swaying in the soft breeze on either side of the path with colourful shrubs lining the outer edge of the grass. Elio and Jaden are currently moving the large table onto the grass for us to eat later, near enough to the BBQ, but not so close we shall all smell of smoke by the end of the evening. I wrap my arms around myself, feeling a sudden shift in the air.
The BBQ has room for all our mates to cook around currently they all have their shits off just in swimming trunks as they marinate the meat ready to put on the coals. The kids are running around playing kiss chase and nearly knocking over the chairs in the process. I just smile sitting on the lounge chairs where the fire pit is on the top level overlooking the chaos below. I just watch Violet link arms with Aria as they begin whispering and giggling to each other, making my stomach sink. Those two have a way of winding up the boys until a fight breaks out.
I hear the click of heels on the floor as I look over my shoulder at where the patio doors are. Kara, my twin sister, emerges from the house, her long dark wavy hair flowing behind her. Her green eyes sparking as she sees my face light up with what she carries in her hands: two large glasses of rose wine. Our favourite. “I thought you might want this,” she smiles as I take it. We clink glasses before she slumps down beside me on the lounge chair, “Here’s to us another year older,” she smiles and we take a sip. It’s fruity and delicious and perfect for a sunny day like this.
It’s our 26th birthday today and our half brother Jaden is hosting a little family BBQ for us to celebrate. He built this dream house when he met his mate, who happens to be my best friend, Stacey. She is a good influence on him like all mates are. Our brother had far more demons than any of us knew about, and over the last couple of years they have been together, his rough edges have smoothed out. He is actually nice now. Stacey joins us, having just passed Willow to hunter and picks up her own glass.
Kara has two kids Xander who is seven, and Aria, who is six. She also brought Addie, a sweet little girl who won’t say boo to a goose, and clings to Xander’s side like a second shadow. Those two are joined at the hip and despite the age gap between them. He is good with her and doesn’t seem to mind her neediness. Aria is a plucky little thing. When Aria and Violet team up, even the Moon Goddess herself would need a stiff drink. I try not to focus on the trouble they get up to bossing the boys around like the little alphas they claim to be.
Stacey has three little ones of her own. The twins Knox and Jax, both four, are little daredevils currently diving into the pool, trying to make the biggest splash before attempting to drown the other. Willow, Stacey’s double, is a cute little 1-year-old who has captured the hearts of everyone in the Blue Moon pack, even their rugged beta Hunter. He lives on a small property at the end of their garden. Jaden didn’t want him to feel left out when he built this place. He is like an extension of the family here, but has his own space out back. The way he looks at Willow sometimes, I can see he wants this for himself. A family. Pups. Although he would never admit it out loud.
The afternoon sun filters through the leaves of the surrounding trees, casting dappled shadows across the patio where I sit besides Kara I kick off my heels leaning back in the chair as I sip my wine, watching my four mates argue how best to grill the steak and to get the burgers ready for the kids before all hell breaks loose. Hungry little pups cause nothing but chaos. I can already smell the scent of smoky, charred meat wafting up from the lower level of the garden.
“Kitten you alright up there drinking your wine? Do you want to get into the pool and cool down?” Sebastian calls up to me as I shake my head. “We’re having girl time,” I coo back as he rolls his eyes, holding some tongs as he flips the meat over. “You tell him Aurora,” Stacey giggles as Jaden arches a brow her way. Kara giggles as we shift our gaze to Elio, wrestling Jax and Knox apart as they play in the pool. “Elio is going to start getting cranky if I don’t go and help him,” Kara adds, tucking her hair behind her ear. “It’s your birthday,” I remind her as she smiles, her eyes watching Elio as she nods, barely listening. “A dip in the pool could be fun?” she mutters, although her gaze is locked on Elio and less on the water. “Kara, your mate is an actual hybrid. I am sure he can handle a few kids for an afternoon,” she nods, settling back as she licks her lips, humming to herself. “You’re probably right,”
To all my readers, thank you for finishing this book! Your support, comments, likes, and gems mean everything to me. I cherish seeing your reactions, knowing my books bring you joy, even when they make you want to scream!Aurora, Sebastian, Ethan, Caleb, and Gabriel endured so much to avenge Luca. I cherished writing their stories and following their journeys these past months, along with their other adventures throughout the Mated series. That’s why it’s bittersweet to see this series conclude. The ending might not be a traditional “happily ever after,” but you’ll see them again in my future works. All remaining questions and unresolved plot threads will be addressed in the “Alpha Heirs” follow-up series. It will be darker than the first series – I know, hard to believe – but there will be hope sprinkled in, and naturally, a happily ever after moment. It’s not all doom and gloom, I promise.I hope to see you all in the next book.Mated Heirs series:Book 1 - The Alpha’s Secret Mate L
Aurora POVSeveral weeks had passed since the funeral. Pack life was beginning to settle back down to what was normal. Although there were still lingering threats, the conclave was officially over. Many of the packs saw Luca as a threat after all the videos Teddy sent out. But without his leadership, none of them acted on it. At least not yet. The others didn’t want our control, as they called it. There were many angry calls similar to how Jaden reacted severing our truces we had spent building alliances. It was each pack for its own. already rogue numbers were growing. I could feel it. Each day the sun seemed to shine a little brighter — hotter, a shift slowly but surely creeping through the continent.Despite my attempts to contact Jaden, Stacey, Elio and Kara, none of them answered. All I got was a quick text from Mum to tell me to stop trying to contact them. Libby, Stacey's sister, told me they had reached the pack, but Stacey wasn’t doing well. Her sister had gone to visit her a
Riley POVMy heart is utterly broken. Since coming home, I have barely been able to get out of bed. It’s where Dylan’s scent lingers the most. I pull his t-shirt up around my neck to breathe him in even more. If I close my eyes really tight, I can trick myself into believing he is still here. All I can feel is loss. The utter void in my life now that he is gone. My wolf has retreated far back into the recesses of my mind, only making my loneliness even sharper.Oli has been great. The one thing I have clung to is him. Yet I can’t seem to find the strength to be there for him. It kills me knowing he is grieving the loss of his father whilst trying to be strong for me. It should be the other way around. I need to take care of him.I pull the covers up tight around me as the first rays of morning light creep in under the curtain. Today is the day I have been dreading the most; it will make it all too real. If I had only seen his body, maybe it would have helped. But I know he is gone. I
Aurora POVI kept pinching my skin, but nothing felt real to me anymore. It was all slowed down and jumbled up until nothing made sense. My gaze dropped to the knife embedded in the wooden desk by my thigh. A deep crack had formed. The wood splintered on impact as rivets of wood chippings fell from the air. My brother had thrown a blade at me … did he miss on purpose? Or was he just too angry to focus? There was a low hum of voices I could just make out buzzing around me as I gripped the handle, pulling the blade free. More wood splintered in the process as I glanced at the shiny tip. Pressing my finger to it, a drop of blood quickly sprung free and dripped down my hand to my wrist. It flows so quickly I must have cut deeper than I thought.“Aurora, what are you doing?” Gabriel's voice came into focus as either Sabastian or Ethan snatched the hand from my grasp. My hand lashes the air to get the knife back. I felt nothing, no pain, when it cut me. Like I was locked away tight in the r
Kara POVIt’s happening. Everything I had seen coming is playing out in real time right before my eyes. The dirt kicks up off the ground as Jaden’s tires spin on the gravel, unable to get away fast enough. “Little wolf, we need to go,” Elio comes up beside me, and I nod. I knew this was coming. I just wish it wasn’t like this. Aurora will never forgive me for leaving without an explanation … again.“Get everything packed. I need to speak with Luca,” I tell Elio as his jaw clicks disapprovingly. “You know you can’t do that,” he warns, but I’m already running off to find him before he can stop me.Luca seems to have chosen this precise moment to disappear, hiding in the back of the many gardens by the roses. “There you are,” I pant, knowing if Elio finds me before I say what I need to - I won’t get the chance again. I’m already on borrowed time. Luca looks up at me, big, fat tears rimming his silver eyes, making me deflate. “I’m sorry I have to leave you now, Luca. You will see me again
Jaden POVI glared at them all. My sister’s mates, their wary stares that cut through me like a hot knife through butter. “What is it?” I gritted out through my clenched teeth. My wolf knew something was off — their shifty behaviour, the way they protected Aurora like they knew she was to blame. How Gabriel couldn’t fix my mate. It set my teeth on edge. I felt my claws extend and retract over and over the longer the silence dragged out.“Jaden …” Ethan tries to placate me, but all I do is snarl at him. These fuckers are whittling me down to my last nerve. “Someone better start talking soon or you, Dr here, is going to start to have a few more patients to deal with.” Their eyes widen, and Gabriel coughs to clear his throat.“There is nothing wrong with Stacey’s brain, medically speaking. All of her test results came back as they should. There is a block around her, but there isn’t anything I can do to fix her.” Gabriel actually looks crushed by this fact. It’s not something I was unawa
