Aurora Reynolds is now the mother of three, luna to her pack and head of the conclave. Life is perfect with her four mates and family, but rumours are spreading about her oldest son Luca. The alliance between the packs turn on each other, as her son isn’t an ordinary werewolf. He is special, with abilities no other wolf possesses. Some see him as the answer to all their problems others see him as a threat. After Luca is taken, her mates feel compelled to take revenge on anyone who hurts their family, friend, or foe.

“Violet, play nice with your cousins. Don’t boss them all around. They’re your friends, not minions,” I remind my daughter as she just huffs, rolling her green eyes before she struts off through the house, her long blonde hair swishing behind her with her cute little bow at the top. I rub my temples because as much as I like to say, I don’t know where she gets it from. That girl is all me. She’s five going on fifteen, and no matter how hard I try to freeze time, she just keeps racing ahead. Some days, I wish she had more of her father’s calm and rational way of thinking. But then that wouldn’t be her. After everything we’ve survived, that fire in her? She’s going to need it.
I follow after her, walking out onto the concrete patio, the sun's rays kissing my skin with the soft heat. The crystal blue waters of the pool below glitter in the sunlight. I watch Violet skip down the stairs, the palm trees swaying in the soft breeze on either side of the path with colourful shrubs lining the outer edge of the grass. Elio and Jaden are currently moving the large table onto the grass for us to eat later, near enough to the BBQ, but not so close we shall all smell of smoke by the end of the evening. I wrap my arms around myself, feeling a sudden shift in the air.
The BBQ has room for all our mates to cook around currently they all have their shits off just in swimming trunks as they marinate the meat ready to put on the coals. The kids are running around playing kiss chase and nearly knocking over the chairs in the process. I just smile sitting on the lounge chairs where the fire pit is on the top level overlooking the chaos below. I just watch Violet link arms with Aria as they begin whispering and giggling to each other, making my stomach sink. Those two have a way of winding up the boys until a fight breaks out.
I hear the click of heels on the floor as I look over my shoulder at where the patio doors are. Kara, my twin sister, emerges from the house, her long dark wavy hair flowing behind her. Her green eyes sparking as she sees my face light up with what she carries in her hands: two large glasses of rose wine. Our favourite. “I thought you might want this,” she smiles as I take it. We clink glasses before she slumps down beside me on the lounge chair, “Here’s to us another year older,” she smiles and we take a sip. It’s fruity and delicious and perfect for a sunny day like this.
It’s our 26th birthday today and our half brother Jaden is hosting a little family BBQ for us to celebrate. He built this dream house when he met his mate, who happens to be my best friend, Stacey. She is a good influence on him like all mates are. Our brother had far more demons than any of us knew about, and over the last couple of years they have been together, his rough edges have smoothed out. He is actually nice now. Stacey joins us, having just passed Willow to hunter and picks up her own glass.
Kara has two kids Xander who is seven, and Aria, who is six. She also brought Addie, a sweet little girl who won’t say boo to a goose, and clings to Xander’s side like a second shadow. Those two are joined at the hip and despite the age gap between them. He is good with her and doesn’t seem to mind her neediness. Aria is a plucky little thing. When Aria and Violet team up, even the Moon Goddess herself would need a stiff drink. I try not to focus on the trouble they get up to bossing the boys around like the little alphas they claim to be.
Stacey has three little ones of her own. The twins Knox and Jax, both four, are little daredevils currently diving into the pool, trying to make the biggest splash before attempting to drown the other. Willow, Stacey’s double, is a cute little 1-year-old who has captured the hearts of everyone in the Blue Moon pack, even their rugged beta Hunter. He lives on a small property at the end of their garden. Jaden didn’t want him to feel left out when he built this place. He is like an extension of the family here, but has his own space out back. The way he looks at Willow sometimes, I can see he wants this for himself. A family. Pups. Although he would never admit it out loud.
The afternoon sun filters through the leaves of the surrounding trees, casting dappled shadows across the patio where I sit besides Kara I kick off my heels leaning back in the chair as I sip my wine, watching my four mates argue how best to grill the steak and to get the burgers ready for the kids before all hell breaks loose. Hungry little pups cause nothing but chaos. I can already smell the scent of smoky, charred meat wafting up from the lower level of the garden.
“Kitten you alright up there drinking your wine? Do you want to get into the pool and cool down?” Sebastian calls up to me as I shake my head. “We’re having girl time,” I coo back as he rolls his eyes, holding some tongs as he flips the meat over. “You tell him Aurora,” Stacey giggles as Jaden arches a brow her way. Kara giggles as we shift our gaze to Elio, wrestling Jax and Knox apart as they play in the pool. “Elio is going to start getting cranky if I don’t go and help him,” Kara adds, tucking her hair behind her ear. “It’s your birthday,” I remind her as she smiles, her eyes watching Elio as she nods, barely listening. “A dip in the pool could be fun?” she mutters, although her gaze is locked on Elio and less on the water. “Kara, your mate is an actual hybrid. I am sure he can handle a few kids for an afternoon,” she nods, settling back as she licks her lips, humming to herself. “You’re probably right,”
Sabasian POVI watched Jaden’s cocky look as he strolled over to Elio’s desk without a care in the world. Never mind the urgency this message gave us. They were going to strike soon. Of that, I was certain. His hands flew quickly across the screen, fingers trying so fast they blurred and all I could hear was the tap tap tap of the keys. This was my thing. I was the hacker in our group. It was me that uncovered this type of information. I had even run a trace program on the dark web looking for something like this. How did Jaden get an alert and not me?Sensing my frustration, Aurora took my hand in hers, giving them a squeeze. It didn’t matter we still found our answers, but I just knew Jaden would be insufferable. More so than normal. “They we have it. I’ve got the IP address. Just give me a few seconds and I’ll have the pack it came from.” He grinned at me, my jaw clicking as I tried not to punch him in the face.“Damn baby you’re so impressive,” Stacey cooed as the two of them lock
Aurora POV The ‘wolf’ is clearly using a modulator to transform his voice, making it trickier to identify who the guy really is. “It’s time for Selene’s reign to end,” my eyes flick to Jaden, his lips pressed in a hard line as he nods at me to continue. Is this a joke?“Too long have we been under her thumb? What has she done for us but expect us to bow down?” The voice continues as my brows knot together. You mean other than giving us life with gifts and abilities? Yeah, not much. It’s only then that it occurs to me that my mates and I have extraordinary powers compared to other wolves. Kara, being the moon goddess daughter, is different and Elio a hybrid has his powers from his demon side, but my brother and Stacey don’t have any other heightened gifts. Why did she only bless us?To make Luca. My stomach twists as the video goes on. “It’s time for a new god to rise, a new type of wolf to be born. No longer are we bound to howl to the moon. No longer will the sting of rejection of o
Aurora POVIt was later that evening Jaden and Stacey had arrived when we met in Elio’s private office. Like the rest of the castle, it had high vaulted ceilings, cool sandstone walls, and mosaic tiles. Despite the setting sun, the castle was still warm — maybe from the fire crackling in the corner more than anything else. Kara and Elio had handed out drinks. We had gone through the greetings and general chitchat.“How do you think I can help you?” Elio mused, his fingers steadily drumming on the back of his office seat where Kara was perched. He towered over her protectively, his presence engulfing the room. His gaze kept flickering to the flames each time a log cracked and popped. “We have reason to believe there is a French coven involved with Luca’s disappearance. We were hoping you might have heard about them, as I just tried meeting with someone at Bloodmoon Bay,” Ethan asked, as Elio’s eyes darkened. His gaze dipped to Kara before masking his features completely. That was a lit
Aurora POV “Did you actually manage to meet the person who sent the note?” Gabriel asks and Ethan licks his lips, savouring my taste. It makes me blush despite having seen them all do it a thousand times before. “Yeah, but I didn’t pay them in the end. It was some old wizard who had heard a rumour from another witch picking up some supplies from this witchy herb shop. He was low on cash and wanted to make a quick buck.” He supplies grabbing the soap and washing his corded arms and chest.“Waste of fucking time, like I said it would be,” Sabastian bites out, his palm coming down on my thigh below the water as I glare at him. This is not helping. “Yeah, but the shopkeeper on the other hand was able to give me some information, so it wasn’t a total loss,” he gives me a wink as Sabastian clicks his jaw, his hand skating up my thigh.“We questioned Avery. turns out you attacked him for nothing. He had noticed some magic being used in the pack and was trying to find out who was behind it.
Aurora POV “Um, before we head to the office, there is something waiting for you in your room and you might want to, um, freshen up first,” Kara adds quickly, steering me down the hall in the opposite direction. “Okay, but I think it’s important we get some answers,” I protest, but her grip is surprisingly firm considering her wrist looks like it would easily snap in two. “We will, but this should happen first.” She shoves me towards the door. I notice is the other end of the hall to where everyone else stays. I can’t even think what would be waiting in my room. My heart kicks up a couple of notches. “Is it about Luca?” I ask, and her face twists. “No … take a shower, you stink,” she tells me, opening the door and practically kicking me inside. “Thank me later, love you,”“Wait …” the door snaps shut behind me and I’m pretty sure she locked it, but I might be imagining things. What was that all about? I’m going to have words with my sister when I get out of here.I give my pits a qui
Aurora POVThe crimson moon pack stretched out before us. Dunes as far as the eye could see as we drove over the tumbling grains of sand. The heat was unbearable. Part of me wanted to wring out my top from the sweat that had accumulated. I’m not sure how Kara survived in this heat. A large sandstone wall surrounds the Crimson Moon Pack. Rows upon rows spiral up the top until finally an enormous castle sits. The place has turrets, towers, and gateways. When a sandstone occurs, the entire pack is lost, blending in with the surroundings. They hardly ever have invasions because anyone heading towards the pack is picked out like a fly in a glass of milk. The drawbridge lowers and then we make our decent driving the steep narrow winding roads up to the top of the castle.Kara greets us, her long dark waves cascading down her back as she wears a modest pretty lilac dress the hugs her curves. Besides her is Aria, her daughter, only slightly older than Violet. She has jet black dark straight h
