GENEVIEVE (VIVI)’S POINT OF VIEW

“I don’t think I would have ever done this without you.” My husband, Elias often told me but now, while sitting across from him and staring into his emotionless eyes, I knew my marrige was over.

I sat perfectly still with my fingers digging so deeply into the fabric of my purse until my knuckles turned white still, I felt no relief.

He looked immaculate in a three-piece suit that clung to his broad, athletic shoulders with his dark brown hair styled to perfection. It was his eyes however, that broke me. Those blue eyes that used to look tenderly at me, were now full of coldness with no hint of any emotion.

I watched as he pushed a file toward me and one look at the file, my lips trembled.

‘Petition for Dissolution of Marriage.’

"Sign it, Genevieve," he said in a cold tone. "The terms are more than generous as you will receive a nice settlement that ensures you will never have to return to the life you lived before we met."

A bitter laugh escaped my dry lips. "A settlement? Elias, do you honestly think I married you for your money?" I asked as my voice shook with both humiliation and pain. "Look at me. Please, just really look at me. I’m Vivi, your wife. We are married and I have always been by your side.”

His expression remained cold as he leaned back in his chair and assessed me coldly, like I was a stranger.

"I appreciate everything you did for me during my recovery, Genevieve," he replied. "But we both know that marriage was built on a foundation of missing pieces but now I know the truth.”

"The truth?" I whispered as rage filled me.

"Bianca," he began and I immediately noticed how his tone softened at the mention of her name. "My memories of the accident finally came back and now, I know it was Bianca who dragged me out of that burning room years ago. She is my true first love, and I will not waste any more time living a lie with a woman my family forced into my life."

I stared at him in disbelief, wondering what had come over him. For years, I had managed Elias’s amnesia which was as a result of a fire outbreak. I stood diligently by him, gave up the things I loved doing and now, he thinks Bianca is the one who saved him?

Bianca, the bratty, high-society socialite who had suddenly appeared weeks ago, had clung onto Elias immediately and to make things worse, his parents, Julian and Reyna, had instantly championed her, eager to displace a poor girl like me and Elias, who didn’t know what was actually going on, was falling right into their trap.

"Elias, do you really believe that? We have neen through so much for years and you’re not scared to lose me?”

"That is enough," he interrupted as he moved his hand away, so I couldn’t touch him. "My decision is final. I have a future to build with Bianca, the woman who actually belongs by my side so do not make this ugly."

I trembled as the realization sank in. The same man I had given everything away from just so he wouldn’t feel threatened or neglected was throwing me to the side because of Bianca?

“Are you going to sign or have us do it the hard way?” he asked with a raise of his brow as he pointed to the document one more time.

One more look at his face and I knew there was no going back on this. With a shaky sigh, I grabbed the pen with trembling hands and slowly signed, as my heart ached painfully.

"You’re going to regret this, I assure you.” I spat as I dropped the pen. Wasting no time, I grabbed my purse and got out of my seat to leave but before I could take the first step towards the door, my vision blurred as a sharp, agonizing pain hit my stomach, followed immediately by a profound nausea that hit me so hard, I quickly slammed a hand over my mouth so I wouldn’t puke all over the office.

"Genevieve?" Elias asked with a tone that didn't sound concerned. "Are you alright?"

I couldn't answer him as the sickness rose in my throat, threatening to spill. Wasting no time, I rushed out of his office and ran for the restroom. When I got there, I threw the door open and slammed it shut behind me but I barely made it to the toilet before dropping to my knees as I began to retch.

I clung to the seat for dear life as tears leaked from the corners of my eyes. It took minutes for the spasms in my stomach to finally subside and after vomiting every content in my belly, I slowly got up on shaky legs before going to the mirror.

My chestnut hair was messy, my long lashes were soaked in tears and my doe eyes were all red and puffy from crying so hard, followed by a pounding headache.

As I took deep breaths and tried to calm myself, I began to make little calculations. This wasn’t the first time I was puking my lungs out. In fact, it had been happening quite regularly for a couple of weeks now.

As my thoughts clicked, I moved a shaky hand to my flat tummy and as I thought of the possibilities of my assumption, my heart raced even faster.

‘No. No, please God, no,’ I breathed.

I began to count backward in my head, tracking the days and the weeks as I thought of the last nights I spent in Elias’s arms. Things had been a bit rocky since Bianca appeared but still, I ran over each detail carefully.

“No, this can’t be happening,” I gasped. My period was over three weeks late.

I was finally carrying Elias’s long awaited child but it didn’t matter anymore, did it? He already made me sign the divorce papers and threw me out of his house.

  • The Wrong Wife for Mr Whitmore: Pregnant, Divorced, Reclaime   WHAT HELL LOOKS LIKE

FELIX’S POINT OF VIEW. Raindrops hit the floor-to-ceiling length window softly, and the smell of coffee and paint filled the large sky-rise apartment. Billy and Max played with the squishy toys nearby, while I gripped the broken charcoal resting between my tattooed fingers before tossing it in the overflowing bin beside me. “Damn.” I hissed, staring at the large canvass is just been dragged a line of black ink across. The enormous crowd overlooked the gray cliffs bordering the sea. The air in England always felt different; seven years being here and it hasn’t changed. I stared at the unfinished painting in front of me, or rather, the eyes, and just like those mounted on the walls, they had the same pair of eyes. Hazel….it would never change. I ignored the tightening in my chest and grabbed another charcoal. I hated thinking; sometimes, I hated breathing. However, I couldn’t bring myself to take my soul to her. She would never want that. Seven years later, and I still couldn’t

  • The Wrong Wife for Mr Whitmore: Pregnant, Divorced, Reclaime   TWO RED THREADS SNAPPED

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEW. The heat slapped against my face the moment I burst back inside the ballroom. If I thought the flames and the smoke before were terrible, it was nothing compared to what I stared at now. The entire ballroom was covered with thick, black smoke, so dark I could barely see anything. My lungs felt like they were on fire as I ran further inside. “Dad!!” I screamed, coughing violently as my feet stepped on crunched bottle shards. I lifted my dress higher, trying to keep from accidentally catching some of the blaze items on the ground. I ran forward, but the hem of my gown snagged on broken crystal, nearly throwing me to the floor. I ripped it free without slowing down, ignoring the fresh tear in the expensive fabric. “You!” Someone grabbed hold of my arm. Their nails dug into my skin, making me whimper. “Where did you exit from?” “W-what?” I hissed, lips wobbling in pain as his grip tightened. He looked entirely black now; the smoke had turned him into somethi

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEW.Thick, black smoke quickly enveloped the ballroom with terrifying speed, spreading across the ceiling first before sinking lower, turning the once beautiful hall to a suffocating haze. A violent cough escaped me as my lungs burned, my arm felt partially numb now, and the blood hadn’t stopped flowing.Felix glanced at me when I didn’t stop coughing. He took off his shirt and barked at Elias.“Pull it from the other end.” Elias did, the jacket ripped into two, Felix tossed the blood-stained part before handing me the clean side. “Hold this against your nose. The smoke hasn’t gotten here, so you should be able to breathe clean air for some time.”“B-but what about you?” I glanced from him to the ripped suit jacket. “I’ll be fine, as long as you’re okay.” I swallowed, my hands shaking as I took it from him and held it against my nose. The heat struck next; filing theater ballroom with a terrifying feeling.Sweet flowed from my brows as the dress I had on quick

  • The Wrong Wife for Mr Whitmore: Pregnant, Divorced, Reclaime   THE END

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEWBANG!The explosion ripped through the ballroom. Before I could stop myself, my feet moved, pushing me from Elias’ grip as I tried to grab Felix by his back to pull him down. However, before I could manage to do it, I felt someone else pull me back.Another explosion tore through the ballroom as I stared at Elias. His eyes were as wide as mine, and I leaned against him on the bottle shard-littered floor. The sound still echoed in the hall, but all I could do was stare at him, eyes wide.“What are you doing? Why did you stop me ?” My breathing came out in frantic gasps as I trembled against him. “I-I panicked….he shot, and I was scared it would hit you.”I ignored the sudden ringing in my ears, plus the weird stinging burn on my left arm as I searched for Felix. That’s when I felt it; a body slammed onto the floor right beside mine, the tattoos that lined his neck, the dark curly hair on his head… it looked too identical to Felix. But I knew it wasn’t him.N

  • The Wrong Wife for Mr Whitmore: Pregnant, Divorced, Reclaime   EXPLOSIVE II

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEW.My breath caught in my throat the moment the gun registered in my mind. My dad slumped in, his clothes stained and clinging to his body. Everyone in the hall scrambled, gripping their tables for dear life as my father stumbled in. He took a long drag of beer from the bottle he held close, bloodshot eyes shining with anger and grief as he raised the gun.“You….Genevieve...” he burped, words slurring. “You chose another family over your own. How could you? How much was your mother worth? Huh? How much?! What is it about that boy?” he spat. “That made you decide to give up on your mother.”“I didn’t, Dad. I—“ I took a step close, my smile finally disappeared as my heart pounded against my ribs. I didn’t need to look at the hall to understand the terror that gripped everyone. “We can talk about this, Dad… we can. I don’t do what you think.I lost my mom, too; I wish I could bring her back, too.”“If you loved her, you would never have gone to that school in the

  • The Wrong Wife for Mr Whitmore: Pregnant, Divorced, Reclaime   LIGHTS, CAMERAS, BOOM

GENEVIEVE’S POINT OF VIEW.The moment the limousine rolled beneath the grand archway of the Whitmore Grand Pavilion, my breath caught in my throat. Thousands of golden fairy lights hung from the glass ceiling, with the enormous Venus-like stars trapped inside crystals. Marble fountains shimmered beneath the chandeliers, the size of small houses, while an orchestra played softly from the center of the ballroom. Just outside, on the red carpet, cameras flashed endlessly as reporters yelled for the attendees to stare at their cameras. My skin felt like it’d been pulled and tugged as Felix rubbed small, slow circles on the small of my back. I still see the television crew, reporters, and parents walking about. Dressed only in the very best, the wealthiest families in the state and country filled the enormous hall, in gowns and tuxedos that looked like they were worth more than a third world’s annual budget.Just weeks ago, I’d been sleeping on a hospital floor, hair all over the place
