The wedding

Very weary of slaving to the left and right without finding a job, Dinam decides to accept this marriage despite finding it strange. No matter how serious he has been thinking day and night, it is his only escape route at the moment.

Dinam POV

My future wife and I are going to a nearby town for the celebration of "our wedding". We decided to do things in a very simplistic way. It's just an arranged marriage, none of us is excited to celebrate it. Maieil was forced to do so to escape the suitor her stepmother had in store for her. As for me, I am doing it for my mother. It had been over a month since she had been able to do her therapy. At this level of the disease, she must follow her therapy regularly at the risk of precipitating her life to death. Thanks to the gratuities of my future wife, my mother is now following her therapy very well. Even though I was scared at the start, I decide to let down the guards. Just like me, Maïeil is a desperate person who would do anything to get out of her black hole. Is it not often said that when a person is drowning, he is ready to grab everything to keep one's head above water, even if it is a snake? Well, for now, neither she nor I are investigating which of she or I is the snake. What interests us is keeping our heads above water. We will clarify other questions and concerns later. I am arguably the luckiest groom on earth. In fact, in addition to a large house and other material and financial advantages, I am untitled to a good position in the company of my future father-in-law. I can only thank Maïeil for this offer. Before we appeared Infront of the registrar to celebrate the actual marriage, we sat down and discussed the terms of our marriage contract. All the advantages mentioned above will be granted to me on the sole condition that I remain the husband of Maïeil until the period of three years. We will also have to do credibility to hide the faces.

L- I hope you will not only have three years of marriage, but you will end your days together! My mother made this wish when signing our marriage contract.

- Mom! I cried annoyed

- What? Am I not allowed to say what I think? She answered as naturally as possible. I just sighed so as not to start a discussion that isn't going to end anytime soon. Maïeil said nothing. She just smiled. Very early in the morning of Saturday, we finished the last formalities for the validation of our false marriage.

So this is how Dinam and Maïeil ultimately got married. Each of them knew their part of the contract. It was then up to them to respect them. For them, it's just a give and take. LThere is no need to talk about feelings. They celebrated this wedding behind closed doors. Just Dinam accompanied by hid mother, then Maïeil was in turn accompanied by her best friend Cassandra. The atmosphere was more like a professional ceremony than a festive one. The bride and groom dressed as simply as possible. None of them tried to bother with costumes or other complicated clothes. As soon as the wedding was celebrated, they went to a restaurant nearby where they had a convivial meal.

On the side of Maïeil's mother-in-law, she was impatiently waiting for the next month. Because this is the date scheduled to celebrate the marriage of Maïeil and Lens.

- Three more weeks and my ugly daughter-in-law will be yours and us the dough! She said excitedly.

- Be careful, she's not bad. Lens corrected.

- I hope you didn't fall in love with her ?!

- Calm down my darling, it's you alone who makes my heart beat. Elise, Maïeil's mother-in-law, smiled very satisfied with her lover's declaration. Once back home, she connected to F******k for entertainment when she came across a publication on the town hall page where Dinam and Maïeil were married. She saw images there that caught her attention. She therefore consulted the publication. Seeing it more clearly, she realized that the young girl in the photos is none other than her stepdaughter and the other behind her is indeed Cassandra. But why is Maïeil at the town hall? It's not a wedding, though, considering everyone is dressed in trivial clothes. However, Elise almost fell backwards when she read that it was the marriage of her daughter-in-law and a young man named Dinam. She can't believe it. No, it must be a staging. Maïeil cannot marry, at least not with a man other than Lens. She said to herself.

On the wedding day, we spent the night in a hotel in the city where the wedding has been celebrated. With fatigue, it is best that we return to our city the next day. When we woke up in the morning, we got ready and left without delay. My wife, with whom I have not had to discuss except the contract that unites us, tells me in the room where we slept, before we embark on the journey home.

- Be warned that my mother-in-law may be disagreeable to you. Just try not to let go of her game. Okay? I nodded and answered her

- Thank you for warning me!

- I promise to make all the arrangements so that you do not have to run any danger.

- OK. I looked at this young woman and I can read fear in her eyes. To reassure her, I hailed her

- Hey! Everything will be fine, okay? As an answer, she nods and says nothing. Our eyes are frozen immersed in one another. I had never taken the time to take a good look at Maïeil. She has delicate eyes, pleasant to see. Her luscious mouth is well drawn. I find myself having ideas that are not very Catholic. We are as if hypnotized when my mother's voice pulls us out of this state of lethargy.

- You come? We are waiting for you.

- Sure ! I said, looking away from my wife. I suddenly feel embarrassed by the look I was giving her, and especially because of the ideas I had in my head. What do I believe? It's just a contract we made. Between this beautiful young woman and me, there is nothing else and nothing can happen. The sooner I put it in my brain, the better it will be for me. It is only in fairy tales where a poor man coming out of difficult neighborhoods like me can hope to marry a pretty and rich woman like Maïeil. Fortunately, I have my head on my shoulders. We make the trip in a cemetery calm. The more we walked towards the house where we are going, the more I have the impression of knowing this alley. It is surely because I have already wandered in all the streets of Dalbey in search of work. But when we get to the gate and the car stops there, I remember everything very clearly. This is the house where the wicked woman had ordered me to be carried and thrown out of the gate.

- It's not true! I stammered at the end of my lips. Maïeil threw a questioning look at me, but I said nothing. Soon the guard opened the door for us and the car entered the large house. Today is Sunday, so Maïeil's father and mother-in-law are at home. Maïeil comes forward and we follow her. My heart is pounding inside me. Won't this nasty lady order one more time to be kicked out? I ask myself questions, looking scared. As if she could read me, Maïeil takes my hand and squeezes it. I feel comforted on the spot. We walk hand in hand into the living room where we find Maïeil's father and her mother-in-law seated. They were obviously waiting for us, given that Maïeil had called them and informed that she would come in the company of strangers. As soon as we entered the room, I immediately recognized the woman from the last time. It was she who had rebuked me. Reading the expression of astonishment that appears on her face, I can also understand that she also recognized me. It does not take long for it to be felt.

- You again the filthy one from the last time? I remain frozen in place, while everyone is looking at me without understanding anything.
