She looked stunned to see me, she was trembling and her face had turned pale. I knew I was terrifying but her sudden change from neutral to extremely scared felt exaggerated.

“Can you believe it? This dirty thing spilled food on me.” Sophia ranted, pacing around with clenched fists.

She was lying on the floor weakly, her head bowed. I had listened to the whole thing and I decided to walk out when Sophia instructed her to apologize to a cat.

I felt slightly restless as I listened to Sophia shout at her. My wolf was equally displeased. Sophia’s words seemed too harsh, all she did was spill food but Sophia was going extra miles.

It was merely a mistake, something that could’ve been forgotten the moment she apologized. I felt disgusted by the thought of her apologizing to the damned cat and touching the broken classes would injure her.

My wolf shifted at the thought of that, disdain seeping slowly into my heart.

“That’s enough, leave.” I ordered and she dashed out immediately like she had been waiting for those words all her life.

“You can’t let her leave… She needs to be punished, who is going to clean up this mess…” Sophia retorted and I glanced at the mess on the floor.

“Another maid is going to. She’s my maid, I’ll give her the punishment she deserves.” I replied as I walked into my room and Sophia followed suit.

“But… But as the future Luna, it’s my decision to make… I’ll be in charge of the house and I do not want any maid embarrassing us in front of other guests.” Sophia pointed out and I frowned slightly, unable to picture the future because it felt too eerie.

“I can take care of my house.”

“But I feel you were too lenient. You shouldn’t have let her go that way, at least a little punishment to keep her in check.” Sophia pointed out and I walked over to the window, staring at the sky.

“I can’t wait to be your Luna…” She whispered softly as she snaked her hand up my chest, trying to get her hands into my shirt but I grabbed them immediately.

“Sophia, stop.” I warned and she exhaled, pressing her cheek to my back as she inhaled my scent.

I felt irritated by her presence. My wolf was restless and her scent made my nose burn, I was beginning to have a rethink of my decision. Her hands were too different, they weren’t as soft and small as that of the stripper and instinctively, I thought about the maid and how her hands were.

I made a mental note to check her hands the next time I find her.

“I can’t deny that I want you… Since we’re engaged, don’t you think it’s time we start doing things couples do? You don’t strike me as a gentleman and I know you’ve got needs…” She whispered sultrily as her hands began drifting to my pants and I caught them immediately.

I felt disgusted. I shook her off my back and turned to face her. “You should leave.”

“But Damien… I didn’t do anything…” She stuttered, having a dejected look on her face with tears almost streaming down her cheeks.

“Don’t make me repeat myself.” I replied coldly and she exhaled. “I’ll be in my room, call for me if you need anything.” She mumbled before walking out and I shut my eyes tightly.

“She can’t be Luna.” Dante declared and I couldn't agree more.

“I can’t just cancel everything now... They gave up slave trading for this marriage.” I pointed out and he growled.

“Alejandro would never stop slave trade, cancel the engagement.” Dante ordered and I exhaled.

My mind drifted to the maid and I frowned. I was thinking about her too much lately and it was nothing but a bad omen.

I decided to head out for a run, this was the best way to clear my head. I left the house and headed to the park’s fountain with my car.

I arrived at the fountain and exhaled deeply as I stared at the water cascading from the top mountain to the flowing lake below.

It was breathtaking, the sound was divine and it was exactly what I needed to lift what spirits.

There were a few caves around and the whole place was green with life, rich flowers grew at the sides and I swallowed hard when I saw a lotus. Her favorite and I felt my throat tighten as her smile flashed in my head, the way her eyes glowed whenever she saw a lotus, I couldn’t forget her grin when I had gotten her a lotus flower…

I discarded the thoughts of going for a run as I say on the edge of the cliff, staring at the water deeply.

It all started here… This was the place I first met her, beautiful, dazzling little female with rosy cheeks. She was never scared of me… She embraced me when the world turned their back against me… She stayed with me… Until the goddess decided to take her… She was similar to this maid…

I pushed those infuriating thoughts out of my mind, till today I’m yet to understand why the goddess who is the most beloved of all would decide to take the life of an innocent wolf.

I sat in the cat with my head placed on the steering. The windows were lowered and the cool breeze fanned me to sleep.

It was pitch dark when I woke up, the low rush of the water made me relaxed and I just wanted to stay here without leaving but I had to leave, there was no telling the number of lives that’d be lost if I shift here, especially at this hour.

I hurried back to the pack house, feeling energized and ready to tackle the problems of the pack. I parked in front of the house and jumped out, tossing the keys at my guard who knew what to do.

“Welcome…” Sophia muttered with a huge smile as she walked towards me, her arms outstretched as she tried to hug me.

I waved her aside and walked away, ignoring her protests.

“Bring dinner to my room.” I said to a maid who nodded immediately.

Heading to my room, I suddenly paused as I felt a stir in my heart, something was wrong… A soft sob began to ring in my ears and I clenched my first.

“No…” I whispered, shutting my eyes as I tried to push the voice out of my head but nothing worked, rather than leaving, my legs began walking out of the house, trying to trace where the sobs were coming from.

I entered the garden, staring around with frustration. The sounds were louder now and I walked further into the field, heading towards the end of the field which had lots of trees scattered around.

I froze when I saw her, Nora… she was sobbing softly, her sobs were almost inaudible and I felt my throat tighten involuntarily.

I was filled with rage, my veins were becoming visible as I gritted my teeth. I forced down the urge to move towards her and ask why she was out here disturbing weeping, I was suddenly curious about her.

“Did anyone hurt the maid?” I mindlinked to Seyric who was stunned for a moment.

“Wh… What…”

“Who touched Nora?”

“Nobody I can think of…” He replied.

“Find out. I want an answer tomorrow.” I retorted and ended the mindlink.

I put a lot of pressure on my legs and slowly, I retraced my steps, forcing out every thought of her because she didn’t matter.

She was nothing but a maid and I was concerning myself too much with her issues… now it seems Seyric was correct, I need to send her away because she’s nothing but trouble.

“NO!” Dante thundered sternly.
