Kaitlyn read the words on her screen out loud and cocked a brow in disbelief and surprise.

“What kind of delusions was this private investigator on at this moment he decided to believe that Severin was the guardian?” She asked, her words laced with sarcasm, doubt and mockery even though there was no one with her.

She raised the phone and reread the unchanging words to see if she was the one that got it wrong. Her mind flashed to the unchanging face that lacked any emotion whatsoever, the frosty green eyes that seemed to have frozen over and looked at everything with neutrality, detachment, and boredom and the presence that calculated every of his movement and actions. It was the same attribute whether it was his older or younger self.

A laugh tumbled out of her lips. “Impossible.” She wheezed as she continued to laugh for no particular reason.

Maybe she found the notion too ridiculous but It was just too impossible for the person to be the Severin Moore Kaitlyn had been familiar w

The sky was cloudy and rain kept pouring, the car was flipped upside down and the street was quiet. No, it wasn’t so quiet, there were some people standing around and muttering but Nirvana couldn’t hear them from where she was. It was lonely and painful, every inch of her skin was burning and tingling with endless sting. Nirvana couldn’t endure it, but it wasn’t like she could find the voice to beg for someone to save her. Her eyes were barely opened and all she could see was blurry figure of those fussing around her. Heat was radiating from behind her and she didn’t need to turn to know that that part of the car was stil burning despite the rain beating down heavily on it. Nirvana wanted to die. It was better than this suffering that was dragging on and waiting for death to finally claim her. She couldn’t move, she couldn’t feel her hands too but she could tell that it was broken, some part of her were aching and her face felt very tight as if someone had squished it together wi

“You aren’t thinking of targeting Nirvana, are you?” Kaitlyn heard behind her as soon as she got out of her room. She turned to see Derek standing in front of what would have been Nirvana’s room if the woman hadn’t packed up and left. “And why you asking me that? This kind of situation requires people like you to stand by,” Kaitlyn replied, folding her hand as she stared at the man who was glaring down at her. “Why do you think I am? I am sure you can do the—” “I didn’t know that you had this much time to waste on your ex, you might as well start a lucrative business while you are at it. Who know? You might suddenly sprout an empire that puts even Moore group to shame,” “I heard you have been rallying allies to go against Nirvana with you. I—” “You have been keeping tabs on me?” Kaitlyn narrowed her eyes on Derek who only folded his hand on his chest and cocked a brow at her. “Just like you have been keeping tabs on me—” Derek replied. “This is about how you went to plead with

The car ride was quiet. Nirvana sat beside Sevrin, the space between them thinner than before, not touching, but filled with a silence where she no longer feared or thought she needed to fill it. Outside, the city blurred past in streaks of orange and violet and Nirvana’s fingers toyed with her high-waist jeans, and he noticed. “You are still shaking,” He said, his attention focused on the road. “I’m fine.” “You’re not.” He didn’t press her further, just turned the wheel sharply down an unfamiliar road and it was then she noticed that they weren’t going home. The view started changing to fog veiled hills the more he drove, the sound of tires swallowing wet gravel and the occasional sigh of sea air through cracked windows. “Where are we—?” “You’ll see.” When they pulled up, it wasn’t to another building glowing with life but to a gate ruin cloaked in ivy. He reached behind his seat and pulled out a brass key that was ancient-looking and unlike any she’d seen. Nirvana raised

Nirvana felt as though she stepped into another world as soon as she stepped through the door when Severin was inside while staying right behind her. The door clicked shut behind them and the silence that followed was pristine—only their footsteps echoed faintly as their heels clicked against the marble floor beneath. Nirvana’s eyes couldn’t help but stop on whichever art the golden spotlight halted on in the dim, soft gallery, she stared ahead but was only met with empty halls and still art. No guards, no footsteps, just perfect silence. Severin had rented out the entire museum. Nirvana looked behind but only shadow stretched behind, she flinched when Severin was nowhere to be seen. “Severin?” She called but it came out as a question, as if she doubted his existence there at all. Severin emerged from the shadows near a bronze sculpture, hands tucked in his black coat pockets, his posture was clean and controlled like he’d stepped out of a gallery himself and what Leah said about

“And somehow, you managed to get along so well with Severin Moore that you ended up staying over in his place countless times?” Leah asked with wide eyes, bringing her face closer to the camera as if she was hoping to get close and personal with Nirvana through the phone. “What the hell happened to Severin Moore is a perfect prick?” “It wasn’t countless times, only twice and both were situational,” Nirvana defended herself. “The first one was that rainy night that I locked myself out of my place, the last bus had stopped running, my other car keys were locked in too, the car I took to work broke down. Severin only came to my aid. And last night was because I got drunk and refused to go back to my place, you of all people know how I get when I am drunk.” “And it was when he was drunk that he took advantage of you and asked you out on a date? Should you seriously be attending a date like that? You are supposed to refuse it in the morning when he reminded you about it. A man like that
