After a tiring period of awkwardness, shared glances, and subtle whispers, Korina gently stood and grabbed her purse. She hung it over her shoulder before giving me a polite smile. “Kathleen, thank you so much for keeping me company tonight,” she said, ready to leave. “I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me and I’m really sorry if I interrupted your dinner.”

“Not at all, Korina.” I smiled back at her not wanting her to leave, but I couldn't ask her not to. “The pleasure was all mine. I hope we can have a girl’s night someday. I think it’ll be really fun!”

“Definitely.” She nodded enthusiastically, but when she glanced at Cole, she smile faltered a bit. “Well…I guess all good things must come to an end. I really should get going now.”
