My soul left my body when the picture frame collided with the wall and shattered in to pieces.

My lips widened as a silent gasp escaped through them.

I ducked down and wrapped my arms around my head.

The loud noise of the glass breaking filled my ears.

Breathing heavily, I kept my head down. The adrenaline running in my veins was making me shake... Or maybe it was a product of the fear that ran down my spin the second I saw him raise his hand.

I glanced at the direction Elijah threw the picture frame at and my heart broke at the sight.

The one picture I've ever owned of my family was laying under the broken frame and small scattered glasses.

My ears were ringing and everything felt like it was in slow motion.

But the second I felt his hand on me, I couldn't stop my eyes from tearing away from the fallen frame.

Elijah forced me to stand up straight with a single tug.

"What do you think you're doing?" He slowly growled in a low tone. "You're mocking me?"
