Lily's pov….

We lay tangled in the sheets, I lay there catching my breath while he brushed a thumb across my cheek. The smugness was gone, replaced by something quieter, almost reverent.

He got up and walked to the bathroom

So I did the only thing that felt safe: I slipped my phone number on a folded note into the pocket of his discarded pants. A silent dare.

If he wanted more, he’d find me.

If not… well, I’d survived worse.

At some point, exhaustion claimed me. I drifted into sleep I felt a warm towel against my thighs and shuddered as he cleaned me up and I slept off with his arm heavy around my waist, his steady breath against my shoulder.

For the first time since catching Ryan in bed with someone else, I didn’t feel broken. I felt wanted. Whole.

****

My head was pounding, I looked around and the man was gone, I didn’t even get his name

The sheets were rumpled, his scent still clinging to the pillow,

My heart sank, though I told myself I’d expected this. It was a one-night stand. Nothing more.

Still, as I sat up, my phone buzzed on the nightstand. A calendar notification glowed across the screen:

Job Interview – 9:00 AM, Monday. Sterling Enterprises.

I blinked. My stomach flipped.

Sterling Enterprises?

I grabbed the phone with trembling hands, rereading the reminder twice, three times.

My interview I almost forgot , I had to travel back to New York to prepare for my interview.

I took my bathe, dressed up, packed my suitcases and checked out of the Hotel.

Tomorrow will be a new day and a new chapter for me.

*****

The elevator ride to the twenty-seventh floor of Sterling Enterprises felt like it lasted a lifetime I was so nervous.

I smoothed my pencil skirt with damp palms, forcing a deep breath into my lungs. You can do this, lily it's Just an interview. No big deal.

My phone buzzed again in my bag. For the fifth time that morning, Ryan’s name lit up my screen.

I clenched my jaw. He had called twice last night, three times this morning, and even left a voicemail that started with “Babe, just hear me out—” before I deleted it.

Babe.

The word made bile rise in my throat. He’d lost the right to call me that the second he let another woman into our bed.

Shoving the phone on silent, I lifted my chin as the elevator doors slid open.

The reception area was sleek—glass walls, polished marble floors, a panoramic view of the city stretching across the skyline. Sterling Enterprises screamed wealth and power.

At the front desk, a neatly dressed woman in her forties greeted me with a warm smile. “Miss Hart? Good morning. I’m Mrs. Lawson, the hiring manager.”

Her voice was kind, soothing, and I immediately liked her.

“Good morning,” I said, shaking her hand with as much confidence as I could fake.

She ushered me into a conference room. The interview was nothing like the nightmare scenarios I’d imagined at three in the morning. Mrs. Lawson was polite, thorough, even encouraging. She asked about my academic projects, my career goals, and my willingness to learn quickly.

By the end of the thirty minutes, she smiled like I’d passed some secret test.

“You seem like exactly the type of candidate Sterling Enterprises values, Miss Hart. Ambitious, adaptable, hardworking.”

My eyes widened. “So… does this mean—”

“Yes.” She handed me a folder, her voice brisk but kind. “If you’re available, we’d like you to start immediately. There’s a project that needs assistance today. Consider this your probationary first day.”

Relief and excitement crashed into me all at once. “Yes. Of course. I’d love to.”

She stood, smoothing her blazer. “Excellent. First task is a simple one—these reports need to be signed by the CEO. Take them upstairs to his office.”

CEO. Sterling Enterprises.

I froze, gripping the folder tighter.

The CEO

Everyone knows to fear him, I've heard the rumours, he was cold as steel, never smiled and always wore a suit.

Mrs. Lawson didn’t notice my hesitation. She was already guiding me back into the hallway, pointing toward the private elevator at the end. “Twentieth floor. Top office. Mr. Sterling will be expecting these.”

“R-right. Thank you.”

My heels clicked against the marble as I walked, heart hammering so loud I could barely hear. It was probably nothin.

Give him the documents and walk out, very easy and simple.

The private elevator doors slid open.

My pulse pounded in my ears as I stepped inside. The ride up felt like drowning. When the doors parted again, I found myself in front of double glass doors etched with the words:

Andrew Sterling – Chief Executive Officer

My heart beat loudly in my chest

Clutching the folder like a lifeline, I pushed the doors open.

Now or never I whispered

And there he was.

Andrew Sterling ____

He was sitting on his chair which was facing his huge windows so I couldn't see his face.

“ Good day sir, Miss Lawnson asked me to give this documents to you” I said

He sighed and turned to face me, Midnight black hair, steel blue eyes, perfectly sculpted face hit me like a storm.

My eyes widened

Oh my God , Andrew Sterling……..

My one-night stand. My strip-poker mistake. The man who’d left me in bed without a word.

Sitting behind a vast mahogany desk in a tailored navy suit, looking every bit the ruthless, untouchable CEO.

His head lifted. Our eyes locked.

For a moment, the world went silent.

His expression didn’t flicker, though something sharp and unreadable glinted in his gaze.

And I realized, with horror and a spark of something else I didn’t dare name—

My new boss was the man who’d had me In different positions under silk sheets just forty-eight hours ago.

Everywhere felt dizzy and fuzzy

Shit Lily you always do shit like this

I told myself as I tried not to faint

  • A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS    chapter twenty one: The man behind the mask

Lily’s POVThe Obsidian Club was unlike anything I’d ever seen.I've come here three times already but it's beauty is always unique.Inside, the air shimmered with danger and wealth. Dim amber lights spilled over black marble floors, and everywhere I looked, there were masks — silver, gold, velvet — concealing faces that whispered, laughed, and sinned in equal measure.A woman in a scarlet gown walked past, leading a man by a leather collar. In another corner, a couple kissed like the world was ending. Music thrummed low, steady, like a heartbeat you couldn’t escape.I swallowed hard, my pulse matching the rhythm.“First time?” a soft voice asked.I turned to see a woman in black lace, her face hidden behind a butterfly mask. “You look like you’re about to faint.”“Do I?” I managed a nervous smile. She grinned. “You’ll get used to it. The club has a way of finding what people hide — and showing it to them.”Her words sent a chill down my spine.I drifted deeper into the club, my heels

  • A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS    chapter twenty: petals and silence

Lily’s POVThe first flower appeared on a Tuesday morning.I didn’t notice it at first — my head was pounding from lack of sleep, my hands clutching coffee like it was oxygen. But when I sat at my desk, there it was: a single white rose, resting against my keyboard. No tag. No note. Just perfect white petals, soft as silk, wrapped in a black ribbon.I blinked at it for a full minute.“Girl,” Jenna said from the next cubicle, peering over the divider, “are you seriously getting flowers at eight a.m.? Who’s the mystery man?”I gave a small laugh that didn’t reach my eyes. “I don’t know. Probably a mistake.”“Please,” she rolled her eyes. “That rose screams romantic. You sure it’s not an admirer?”“Admirer?” I choked on my coffee. Jenna giggled and disappeared back behind her monitor. But I couldn’t stop staring at the rose. Something about it felt… intentional. When I brushed my thumb across the petal, I noticed the faint scent of jasmine — expensive, rare, not the kind of thing you pi

Shirtless. My brain short-circuited for a second. His body moved with perfect rhythm, muscles shifting with each push-up, each pull of breath. The early light caught on his skin, outlining every defined line like something out of a dream—or a sin.He didn’t notice me at first. I should’ve looked away. • A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS    Chapter Eighteen: Throw a punch

Andrew’s POVThe moment I saw her crying, something inside me snapped.Lily sat on the edge of the bed, her hands trembling, mascara smudged, shoulders shaking with quiet sobs. I’d seen her angry, flustered, even teasing—but not like this. Not broken.Ryan. The same man who cheated on her. The one who dared to show up here, at this resort, as if fate was mocking us both.I didn’t say another word. I just turned and walked out.---The morning sun burned against my skin as I crossed the courtyard, my steps steady, focused. I spotted him near the poolside, laughing with his assistant—the red-haired woman who’d been glued to his side all morning.“Ryan,” I said sharply. He turned, his grin fading when he saw me. “Well, if it isn’t the boss himself. To what do I owe the—”My fist acted before my brain, I punched him hard across the face “Stay away from her.”My voice cut through the air like glass. People turned to look, but I didn’t care.He spat out blood “Why the fuck would you do t

  • A NIGHT WITH MY BILLIONAIRE BOSS    chapter seventeen: Tangled fire

Lily’s POVDinner with Andrew Sterling was… torture pure torture. The restaurant was silent except for the occasional clinking of cutlery and murmured conversations from nearby tables. Andrew sat across from me, the golden light from the chandelier tracing his sharp jawline, the edge of control in every movement. He barely looked up from his meal, but every time his eyes did meet mine, I felt stripped bare — like he could read everything I wasn’t saying.“Eat,” he murmured once, voice calm but commanding. “You’ve barely touched your food.”I obeyed, mostly because his gaze left no room for argument. And because I wasn't in the mood for arguments After dinner, the silence between us stretched like a tight rope — one wrong step, and I’d fall right into the dangerous thing simmering between us.“Thank you for dinner” I saidHe only grunted When we got back to the suite, I threw off my heels, kicked them under the couch, and took a deep breath. It was just one night. I’d sleep on the be

Lily’s POVAirplanes and I have never been friends. The way the engines roar, the metal tube shakes, and the whole thing depends on invisible air currents? Yeah, no thank you.But here I was—thirty thousand feet above ground—gripping the armrest of a private jet like it was a lifeline.“Relax, Miss Hart,” came Andrew’s calm voice beside me. “We’re perfectly safe.”“Easy for you to say,” I muttered, my eyes glued to the tiny oval window. “You’re used to all this luxury.”He smirked faintly, flipping open a hardcover book. “Luxury doesn’t defy gravity, Lily.”Oh we're on first name basis now.The jet was silent except for the low hum of the engines. Across from us sat two other shareholders, speaking quietly, and one of Andrew’s board aides typing on a laptop.Meanwhile, I was silently making peace with God.Andrew noticed. “You’re terrified.”I shot him a glare. “Brilliant observation, Mr. Sterling.”He chuckled softly, unbothered. Then, after a pause, he said, “When I was younger, I h
