“Eugene…” she called loudly “Eugene!!! Where are you??!”

Wearing her long apron and covering her bandaged hands, Lydia searched for Eugene within the walled forest. She knew he was not far, since there was no escape route, yet she was afraid that he might have been hurt.

Lydia could remember most of last night’s events. She could remember that Eugene, her hero, was the only ne who searched for her and saver her from the coldness and loneliness. She could feel his comfy fur warming her, and could remember his powerful body holding her on his back.

“Eugene!! Eugene!!” she yelled “It is me!! Lydia!!! Where are you, idiot??? I know you are around, so answer me!!! Eugene!”

His odd silence worried her, as she imagined that he might be hurt or even… Dead….

Could her father’s men have killed him?
