Aria's POV

I lost track of how long I had been tied down on the hard uncomfortable bed, waiting for my death sentence. I had cried so much that it felt like all my tears had dried up, so I had nothing left to cry.

I hated this feeling. The feeling of hopelessness and despair that sat heavy in my chest.

I knew that Knox would find me. There was no doubt about that, but the main issue was the state he would find me in. Would I be dead by then? Or would I have been seriously maimed? Or worse….my baby?

My baby kicked in my womb, and a sad smile crossed my lips. This was the first time the baby was kicking, and Knox wasn’t here for me to tell. I couldn’t even rejoice about it, because it could be the last time.

“Jade? Why can’t I heal myself?” I asked quietly, groaning lightly at the pain in my back. I had tried to heal myself from the wounds, but it hadn't worked.

Jade sighed, sounding resigned. ‘I don’t know. My guess is that you can only help others, but not yourself.’
