Lilith stepped closer. “I’m trapped here, Aria. Because of that stake.”

I frowned. “Whoa. Why?”

“It wasn't a normal stake. Your mate used the stake to kill our witch some minutes before he bit me. That witch was old and powerful, so I’m guessing it’s cursed or something.”

She sighed. “So I need your help to move on. I can’t leave until it’s removed.”

My frown deepened. “Removed… like, someone has to pull it out of your….corpse?”

She nodded once. “Yes. That’s all I need. But no one can see me. No one can hear me, except you. You heard me that day.”

My eyes widened as realization dawned on me. “You were the one that screamed in my head that day! How did you do it?”

She shrugged. “I didn't even know that you would hear me. I was so desperate that day. It had been painful watching both of you getting too… attached.”
