Daniel had an important meeting at an abandoned warehouse a couple of miles outside the city, one that would determine if he even had a shot at working in New York again. His contact, an old acquaintance named Mark, had promised to pull some strings, but Daniel knew there would be a price. He wanted to go alone, but Vivian's relentless nagging had eventually convinced him to let her tag along though she had no idea whom he was seeing or why.

"That suit looks sharp," Vivian said as she fixed her lipstick. "Who are we meeting?"

"Listen," Daniel began, "when we get there, please don't do or say anything over the top. Speak only when you're spoken to, and whatever is said in that warehouse stays there."

Vivian rolled her eyes and snapped her earrings in place then smoothed her silk blouse. "Why all the secrecy? If it's that big, you could at least tell me the name."

Daniel hesitated, tapping his finger against his thigh. "This meeting is going to put us back on track, that's all."
