The pounding in my head became so unbearable as I made my way out of the room. The memories from last night started to come back slowly. I remember going to the club to celebrate the new Miller acquisition. It’s a multi-billion dollar deal that had so many companies running around trying to get it, but then I got it. And I couldn’t have gone it without… oh my goodness, June! June has been my personal assistant for the past three years. She knows every damn thing about me, and yeah, we went to the club together. I remember the lights going off as everyone got on the dancefloor. I was dancing with a girl but somehow the next second I looked up, it was June in my arms and she didn’t look like the woman I know at all. There was this hunger on her face like she wanted to eat me all up right there. She pulled closer into me and I felt the adrenaline rush through me. She looked so hot and once my eyes landed on her cleavage, I lost all control. I pulled her closer and kissed her hard. She gave in completely too and for a long minute, we feasted on each other till I came back to my senses. I quickly pulled away, and left. The last thing I remembered was getting into the elevator. I must have swiped my card on the wrong floor or something but I know the door opened and a hot beautiful lady stood in front of me. Everything about her screamed hotness and I couldn’t resist it. We jumped at each other and had the best night of my life… It’s morning now and I can’t believe it was a random ‘gold digging’ girl. I just hope for her sake that she doesn’t try something funny. I will make sure I teach her a lesson she won’t forget even in her next life! I just turned thirty, a billionaire and the heir to my family’s real estate empire. I’m also a survivor of four high-profile "kiss-and-tell" scandals that nearly cost me my seat on the board. My dad had to interfere but it came with strict conditions that I had no choice than to accept. I learned the hard way that in my world, sex is a currency, and every woman has a price. I stopped believing in love and became a full time playboy. That’s what women want after all. Money, and in exchange, I get to use them to my advantage… I took the stairs up one flight to my room, and once my thumbprint cleared the scanner, the doors slid open. June was right there, sitting at the breakfast bar, a tablet in one hand and a steaming cup of black coffee in the other. She looked really composed for someone who had been passionately kissed by her boss a few hours ago. She was already in her work clothes, looking radiant as ever. "Good morning, Zane," she said with a sweet smile. "The private jet is fueled and ready for the 10:00 AM departure to London. You have a briefing with the legal team at 11:00." She added while I looked at her, searching for some answers in her eyes. "June." I finally said when I got nothing. "Yes?" She replied. "About last night. At the club, I was… My behavior was unprofessional. I apologize if I made you feel uncomfortable. It won't happen again." I let out while she set the tablet down. She didn't look offended at all, she even had a small sweet smile lit up her face. "Actually, Zane, there’s no need to apologize. I’m a grown woman. I knew exactly what I was doing, and honestly… I enjoyed it. You’ve had a stressful month, we both have, so why the fuss over a small kiss. Trust me, I wanted it just as much as you did and I wouldn’t refuse if you wanted more.” She replied, leaning forward slightly which surprised me. She had always seem to me like a really strict woman who would never mix business with pleasure. She always handled my past relationships and even when I stopped dating for love, she still handled my flings. So this sudden thirst for my lips was shocking. "I’m glad you feel that way, but let’s be clear. You are my assistant and the most capable person on my payroll, and I value your work more than I value almost anything else in this company. Because of that, we cannot afford to let that happen again please.” "From this moment on, last night never happened. We are boss and employee. Understood?" I added firmly while she nodded but her smile faded a bit. I ignored that though, as she has been loyal to me but she’s still a woman and I can’t take risks. "Of course, Zane. I understand you perfectly. I’ll call the car for the airport." She replied while I stepped into the room to change. I felt a strange feeling as I stood in front of the mirror. Usually when I have a fling, I pay the girl off and forget all about it. But not this time. I keep thinking about this girl and I don’t even know her name. “It’s not like I care anyway.” I mumbled under my breath while I shook off the thought. She’s just another girl in my books, she’s got her payment and by the time I land in London and get another girl, she will be a ghost in my past… "Zane?" June called while staring furiously at her laptop. without looking up. We just landed in New York and making it to the meeting. "Yes?" "There’s a news alert. It’s not about us, but it might affect the market." She turned the laptop toward me. The headline flashed in bold, black letters: WHERE IS LYRA VANE? HEIRESS DISAPPEARS AS FATHER’S EMBEZZLEMENT SCANDAL WORSENS. I glanced at the photo accompanying the article. It was a high-society gala shot of a woman, looking breathlessly beautiful and gorgeous. "The Vanes are finished, the feds are freezing everything, even her personal accounts. She’s probably hiding in some villa in France." June let out while I just stared at the picture in shock. The woman in the picture is the same woman I had a night stand with and just paid off three hours ago. “This is not possible…” I muttered under my breath as I looked out the window. No wonder she was offended when I threw the money at her. She must have felt disgusted and I know girls like her. Rich, spoiled daddy’s girl. She will try to use me now that she’s broke… I can’t afford a fifth scandal, I’ll lose everything. I have to deal with her before she makes a move…Zane I caught myself smiling in the car as I drove to the office. That was the first time since yesterday and I only got to that point after talking to my mom and she assured she’d do something about the issue. I left the house feeling on top of the house and I can’t believe I’m now smiling. It’s only been a day but it feels like a year without Lyra. We slept on the same bed like strangers and even when we woke up, she still felt like a stranger. That was really killing me and not knowing what else to do, I went to the one person I know she talks to and might listen to. “I really hope this works out well. I can’t wait to have my wife back to me.” I muttered under my breath as I zoomed off. I soon arrived at the office and it felt different with June gone. “Good morning sir,” a lady let out just as I was settling at my desk. I could tell she was the new assistant and that just made me miss June the more. She’s been working with me for years and knows everything about me. Now I hav
Lyra“I was told you wanted to see me,” I let out as I walked into Rosemary’s room. I had just woken up from my usual afternoon nap when one of the maids came in to tell me she wanted to see me. I spent another five minutes in bed, wondering why she wanted to see me, and especially while she wanted me in her room. Usually, she would have come to me instead. “Yeah, I wanted to talk to you about something. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything though, if I did, you can just come later. What I want to talk about can wait.” She quickly replied.“Ohh no, it’s okay. I wasn’t doing anything. I was only taking a nap and I was already up.” I replied too and she nodded before beckoning me to come closer which I did.“What do you think about this scarves? They are new editions and my stylist had them delivered this morning. She wants me to pick out the ones I like and then return the rest. I’m having a hard time settling for the ones I like. They are all nice, want to help me out?” She asked and I
Zane The moment I looked ahead and saw Terry at the table with Lyra, I was filled with anger. It wasn't anything like jealousy because there was no need to be. I know for sure that Lyra had no interest whatsoever in him. I was just so mad that he had the nerve to approach her. And knowing my wife well, she would have asked him to leave. He was the one who stubbornly stayed to disturb her. I hurried to them and was about to confront him when I saw the look on Lyra's face. She looked like she had just seen something hortible she shouldn't have, and that got me really worried.“What’s going on babe? What did he do to you?” I asked and then hurried to her side. “What is this, Zane?” she let out softly and then turned the screen to me.I was shocked out of my mind when I saw what was before me. I took the phone from her and couldn’t believe it but it was true because it was really me in the video and it did happen for real.“I hate you so much, Zane Ashford!” She slammed hard at me and
Lyra “For the umpteenth time, where are you taking me Zane Ashford?” I teased while he looked at me and burst into laughter. I was soon infected and started laughing too. “And for the umpteenth time, I’m not telling you because it’s a surprise. We will soon be there and you will see things for yourself so relax my beautiful wife.” He replied and I felt warmth gush over me as he called me his wife. I sneaked a peek at him and then quickly looked away before he noticed. He has been so sweet on me that I sometimes find it too good to be true. Without knowing it, I find myself doubting him and looking for reasons to convince myself that he’s playing me. But then, he proves me wrong every time. I’d been so worried a couple of days ago when June pulled such switch on me. One minute she was apologizing and promising to make things right. And the next minute, she’s yelling and threatening me. I was so disturbed but Zane didn’t give room for it at all. He cheered me up and assured me they
LyraZane was the happiest when I was finally discharged to leave the hospital. He was all smiles and wouldn’t stop kissing me. He wouldn’t even let the driver do his work. He sent him away and drove us home himself.“Hey babe, how are we doing back there? He asked while peeping through the rearview mirror. I smiled and winked at him and that made him blush.“We are doing fine.” I replied and he smiled back too.He went on talking to me about everything that happened at the hospital when he rushed me there up until two days later that I woke up. I was laughing all through till I started feeling sleepy. He noticed when my responses became short and once he knew I wanted to sleep, he started singing to me. “We are home now,” he whispered to me and when I opened my eyes, I saw we were in front of the house.“No, no, you’re not stressing yourself walking all the way inside when I’m right here.” He chimed in and when I wanted to protest, he shut me up with a kiss. “I can’t even believe t
JuneI thought Zane was joking when he fired me and I didn’t take him seriously at first. Even Jeff thought he was only being emotional and didn’t mean it, but then, Zane didn’t back down. He insisted we both leave and even asked Jeff not to call him until he’s ready to talk to him. Jeff still didn’t he was being serious but he still asked us to leave so I left with him. “Relax, you know he doesn’t mean any of that. He’s just not in a good place at the moment. His wife and child are in the hospital so it’s only natural that his dkotions will be all over the place. Just go home and stay calm. I’m sure he will call you when he’s calm.” Jeff said to me on the way to my house. “What really happened though? You just said something came up at the office, what happened?” He asked but I wasn’t even in the mood for long talks. “I really can’t say right now. I’ll call you later when I’m a bit calm and we can talk about it.” I replied and he didn’t push further. He dropped me off at my plac
Lyra “Good morning,” I let out as I walked into the dining room.Rosemary turned around immediately and upon seeing me, she rushed over and pulled me into a tight hug. When she finally released me, she was beaming with smiles. Henry was also sitting there at the table with a soft smile on his fac
JuneA lot of thoughts ran through my mind as I sat in a dimly lit corner of The Rusty Anchor, a dive bar far enough from the city to avoid cameras but close enough for a man like Matt to drive to in a fit of lust. I checked my reflection in my phone screen. I had traded my grey blazer for a deep-r
LyraI stared at my reflection in the dressing mirror, and I smiled back at the woman looking back. That has been the only thing I’ve been doing since morning anyway and I still can’t seem to get enough of my own face. I guess it’s the pregnancy hormones kicking in or the hot naked body of the sill
Zane“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” I kept screaming and slamming hard at the steering wheel. I just couldn’t believe how everything changed in a second. I left the office in high spirit, hoping to come home, eat food and sleep well but then, that silly ass had to ruin the whole thing for me.I mean who in e
