Mag-log inLyra
Just a week ago, the stack of hundreds had felt like a slap in the face when they hit the bed but now, they were my lifesaver. I looked up and saw my Birkin bag sitting pretty by the dresser. Of course, it looked out of place, it’s the only luxury I have left of my former life. I’ve spent the last seven days watching the world I knew dissolve in real-time. My dad is now officially a fugitive, the Vane offices are wrapped in yellow crime-scene tapes. My friends have all blocked my number, and Matt… oh my God, Matt hasn’t even called me once to check up on me or apologize. I’m sure he’s moved on with that bitch, Joanne… Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at the last hundred-dollar bill from the money the naked stranger arrogantly threw at me. “I hate him so much, damn it!” I groaned angrily. I hate the way he looked at me like I was a stain on his expensive suit, and how he thinks he can buy my silence. But most importantly, I hate that his money is the only reason I am not sleeping under a random bridge in the middle of nowhere. After he left that morning, I also checked out of the hotel and drove to a cheap motel. I lodged there and have been living on the money but it will all be gone tomorrow morning. The motel manager, won’t take it lightly with me and if I don’t want any embarrassment, I have to find a solution fast. I grabbed my phone and then scrolled to the one contact I never thought I would ever call. Henry Ashford, one of my dad’s old friends. They met and became friends in college, and after that, built their empires. While my dad got into the spotlight, Henry stayed in the shadows and grew his company into an empire. I think it was during one of their celebrations that they decided to merge their dynasties through their children. It was an arranged marriage so they arranged a blind date between his son and I. Well, I was madly in love with Matt and instead of showing up at the date, I booked a flight to Ibiza for Matt and I, and we had so much fun. I got back and heard that my supposed date didn’t show up either. He probably also chose to be with his girlfriend. Whatever it was, the merger plan died that night and that was the end of the arranged marriage too. I thought choosing love was the best but the man I did it for betrayed me, and I now have to crawl back to the one I rejected. Knowing the fate that awaited me in the morning, I immediately shook off every bit of pride and made the call. "Hello?" a warm voice answered on the second ring. "Henry? It's... it's Lyra. Lyra Vane." I let out. "Lyra? Dear girl, where have you been? We’ve been waiting for your call. Your father told me you might call, but we didn't know how to reach you." He replied eagerly. "I'm in trouble, Henry," I whispered. "Just send me your adddess. I will send you a car right away!” He said firmly and ended the call. Before I knew what was happening, the car had arrived, and I was on the road. We finally got to the house and I suddenly started to breath fast and hard. I had no idea what I was walking into. Just then, the front doors flung open and Henry hurried towards me. His wife. Rosemary was beside him, looking beautiful with a sweet smile. "Lyra , oh honey," Rosemary said, pulling me into a warm hug. I didn’t even know how much I needed the hug until I found myself drowning in the warmth. It felt so good. "Thank you for taking me in," I said softly. "Nonsense," Henry said, motioning to one of the maids who quickly took my bags upstairs. "You’re family. Andrew is... well, we’ll talk about that later. Right now, you need a nice meal, warm bath and a long nap." He added. "We were just about to sit for dinner," Rosemary said, leading the way to the dining room. "Our son is actually home for the weekend. He’s been in London for business, but he flew back this morning. I’m sure he will be glad to have you around." She added while I felt my heart skip a beat. I didn’t know how to feel about being around him now after our history. I’ve heard rumors about him being a stuck-up playboy brat, and I hope it’s true. At least, it would make feel good that I didn’t miss out, choosing stupid Matt over him. "I hope it's not too awkward… about the date thing." I murmured while they both laughed. "Water under the bridge, Lyra . He was just as stubborn as you were. I think he’ll be quite surprised to see you." Henry replied. We got to the dining room, and it was a masterpiece which reminded me of home. I looked up just then and then saw a portrait. “Who is that?” I asked slowly while Rosemary ’s gaze followed mine before she finally smiled. “Ohh I think I remember now. You two were supposed to officially meet over the blind date so that means you both don’t know what each other looks like. Very funny, huh?” She joked but I didn’t laugh. I couldn’t. The room was starting to move and it felt like the air was being sucked out. The man in the portrait was the arrogant naked stranger who treated me like a trash a week ago. I stared really hard, desperately wishing they weren’t the same person but my wish didn’t come through. It was definitely him. Even in the picture, he looked arrogant and condescending like he did when he threw money at me and threatened to ruin my life if I ever spoke his name. "That's him, that’s your son?" I finally found my voice. "Our only son and heir," Henry replied while I felt a cold sweat break out on my neck. "Is everything alright, dear? You look like you've just seen a ghost." Rosemary asked when she noticed my sudden paleness. "I... I'm just tired," I lied while my mind started racing as I wondered what he’d think once he sees me. He’d probably think that I tracked down his parents and now here to carry out some twisted scheme and blackmail him. He had promised to ruin me but then do I even have anything to lose. I already lost it all… "Is he... is he joining us for dinner?” I asked gently. "Right here," a deep, familiar voice sounded from behind...Zane“…then I’m all yours,” I was so excited when she said this and I just couldn’t resist it when she turned to leave.I pulled her back and hugged her tightly, and wouldn’t let go till I’ve had enough. Even after she walked off, I still stood there, thinking about our conversation. It was so funny how just this morning, I had no idea I was this deep in love with her but now, it seems as if I’d never been in love my whole life. I just want her so badly and can’t wait to make her mine. “I’ll do anything to get you, Lyra. You’re mine and mine to have till the end of time.” I muttered under my breath. “What did you say?” Lyra asked and that was when I knew she was still in the room. I thought she had gone out. “Nothing, I was just thinking out loud.” I chimed in and then went into the bathroom. We were soon called for dinner and the whole time, my eyes were on Lyra. I just couldn’t stop stealing glances at her and even my dad noticed but he didn’t say a word. He probably thinks I wa
LyraI wasn’t expecting Zane to come back for me and I wasn’t planning to go home either so I wasn’t the least bothered. I wasn’t even in a hurry to get a ride so I just started walking down the road. I was deep in thoughts. I still couldn’t believe Davis could do that to me. It’s so hurtful realizing I had been fooled again. First it was stupid Matt cheating on me, then Zane with the contract marriage, and now Davis. I was beating myself up over it when I looked up and spotted Zane’s car. He parked beside me and once we both stared in each other’s eyes, the rest was history. It wasn’t until we were done making love that we both realized what had happen…“Do you regret it?” Zane asked gently while I turned to look at him and we both locked eyes. “No, why?” I asked. “Because you look like you do. You’ve been quiet since we left.” He replied and I smiled.“I don’t. I guess I’m just eager to get home.” I chimed in and he simply nodded. We both didn’t say another word. He focused on
ZaneI couldn’t even describe the anger that filled my being as I watched Lyra get out the car. She was trying to prove she’s stubborn but I happen to be more good at it so I didn’t stop her. I started the car and zoomed off without hesitation. “Fuck you!” I slammed hard at the steering wheel as I replayed the scene at the spa with Davis all over again. I know Lyra is a lot of things but I never knew she was that gullible that she couldn’t see through a man’s true intention.I mean, it’s fucking Davis, he’s not that smart to have played her this much without dropping hints all over the place. She was just too desperate for love that she chose to ignore the warning signs. “How desperate for love can someone be?” Once the words flew out of my mouth, I sort of came back to my senses and realized my own hypocrisy. I’m partly to blame for this too because Lyra wouldn’t have the need to seek I’ve elsewhere if I was the perfect husband to her. The fact that this is playing out just the l
LyraI watched with horror as the two men fought hard. I was scared for Davis at first because Zane wouldn’t even spare him at all. He kept punching him card all over but then he slipped one time and Davis used the chance to take over. They both went hard at each other and I knew I had to do something before they do some irreversible damage and get us into more trouble. “You guys should stop now or I’m going to get people in here and you know what it means if this gets out. Zane! Davis!!” I screamed with all the strength in me and somehow, it worked. They pulled apart immediately but that wasn’t all, Zane went ahead and revealed all that went down between them. How they were formerly close friends before Davis betrayed him, and they cut all ties. It got worse when I connected the dots and realized Davis actually played me. He intentionally approached me so he could use me to get Zane. Oh my goodness… I just couldn’t believe it, I didn’t want to believe that this perfect gentleman
ZaneSeeing as Lyra was all dressed up in the morning, looking so beautiful and hot made me boil with jealousy. I tried so hard to remind myself that I had no right to feel that way because we both agreed. And most importantly, I was the one who came up with the idea. I was the one who didn’t want the marriage and made her sign the contract. And to think I even have so many girls on my beck and call, so why can’t I stop being jealous this silly new love of hers. She isn’t even really my type!My phone beeped then and I quickly grabbed it, thinking it was Lyra. Maybe she was now feeling guilty and changed her mind. I looked and it was Jess. I immediately felt irritated as her name lit up the screen. After the whole sweet sex last night, I was quite impressed but I still wasn’t going to do her wish. She seemed like she wanted to be in control and that’s something I’d never give to someone else. I’m always the one in control and though I couldn’t seem to make up my mind on an answer
LyraWe kissed with so much passion and I was almost begging for more when a feeling suddenly washed over me again. I couldn’t even describe how it really felt but I just couldn’t continue at that point. I quickly pulled back and before he could pull me back, I ran out of the pool. “What’s happening? You’re having second thoughts again?” Davis asked.“There’s a contract between my husband and I.” The words had already spilled out of my mouth before I even realized it. “Ohh, I mean I’m helping him with a business contract at work.” I quickly tried to cover up but it was too late. “Don’t do that, darling. You clearly mentioned a contract between you and your husband. I really don’t know why you’re trying to lie now and I don’t blame you. I guess I must have given the impression that I’m not to be trusted, right?” He quizzed.“Of course not, you know that’s not true. I absolutely trust you. I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t.” I chimed in while he then got out of the pool and came over to

JuneA lot of thoughts ran through my mind as I sat in a dimly lit corner of The Rusty Anchor, a dive bar far enough from the city to avoid cameras but close enough for a man like Matt to drive to in a fit of lust. I checked my reflection in my phone screen. I had traded my grey blazer for a deep-r
LyraI stared at my reflection in the dressing mirror, and I smiled back at the woman looking back. That has been the only thing I’ve been doing since morning anyway and I still can’t seem to get enough of my own face. I guess it’s the pregnancy hormones kicking in or the hot naked body of the sill
Zane“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” I kept screaming and slamming hard at the steering wheel. I just couldn’t believe how everything changed in a second. I left the office in high spirit, hoping to come home, eat food and sleep well but then, that silly ass had to ruin the whole thing for me.I mean who in e
