LOGINVINN
“Tonight’s game was insane!” Logan, my ever-loud teammate, said next to me, his voice rising over the music pulsing through my veins. He pulled Donavann into a headlock, grinning. “You were crazy out there, man. I almost thought you were a different person.” Donavann barely reacted. For the umpteenth time, I glanced at the clock on the wall. My jaw ticked. She still wasn’t here. She missed my damn game. Was she going to miss the after-party too? “You’ve been staring at the clock since you stepped in.” Donavann’s voice reached my ears. He shifted to the edge of the couch and grabbed a canned beer off the table, tossing it at me. “Perhaps it would help you loosen up?” I easily caught it. “Thanks.” I lifted my head to check the time again, but something else caught my eyes. Megan fucking Qing. She stalked into the bar like she owned it, her glittering red gown riding up her thigh with each step she took. She paused for a second, scanning the room, then her blue eyes met mine. Her face instantly soured. I smirked. She made it. Left with no choice, she had eventually agreed to fake date me. She made it so clear that she was doing it for James, but it was obvious that the main reason was because of her admission. She started to walk towards our table. Logan whistled. “Who the hell is— the girl from yesterday? The one assigned to our team?” Donavann couldn’t tear his eyes off her. “She’s hot,” Logan added. “Fucking hot.” She effortlessly moved through the crowd before finally pausing at our table. Her confidence faltered. She literally looked like a bunny now, not like the viper that had wanted to suck the damn life out of me at that date. I pulled her into my lap and she sucked in a shaky breath. “Hey, baby.” Her eyes flared at the nickname. “Don’t call me that,” she muttered under her breath, forcing a smile when Logan immediately grinned at us. “Oh, this is interesting.” Logan leaned forward. “How the hell did this happen?” “She fell in love with my face,” I answered easily. Megan nearly choked. “In your dreams.” Donavann made a choking noise of disbelief while Logan burst into laughter. I could tell she was uncomfortable on my lap due to how she kept shifting, but I kept my hand around her waist to stop her from standing. “Can’t handle sitting on a guy’s lap for a few minutes?” I murmured near her ear, and she finally stopped shifting, like she was accepting the challenge. “You didn’t tell us you had a girlfriend,” Logan said. “She didn’t tell me she was showing up tonight either,” I met Megan’s gaze. She nearly choked. She really sucked at acting. I glared at her, and she forced another smile, though this one was even stiffer. Her whole body went rigid the second she glanced over my shoulder. I followed her line of sight and instantly regretted it. James Martin. Standing across the room next to a blonde that was clearly desperate for his attention, he said something to her and she laughed like her life depended on it. The stiff smile on Megan’s face faltered so quickly it almost pissed me off. Of all the guys she could crush on, it was James Martin? Not that it was any of my damn business, but James Martin was the true definition of a sly snake. The sight of him disgusted me to the bone. “Excuse us,” I suddenly said, standing with Megan. Her eyes widened. “What are you doing?” I ignored her and led her deeper into the crowd where bodies moved recklessly under neon lights and deafening music. Her heels stumbled once before my hand settled firmly on her waist. “There’s barely any space here,” she deadpanned. “Good,” I said lazily. “The less space there is, the more real it seems.” Megan swallowed hard when I pulled her closer. Her chest brushed mine and warmth instantly spread through my system. She smelled sweet, like vanilla and something else that was quite distracting. “We’re too close,” she whispered. “And you’re a terrible actress,” I murmured back. She glared at me. I lowered my head until my mouth brushed the shell of her ear. “Your crush is watching. You know that, right?” Like she had been practicing for this exact moment, her hands slid up my shoulders and around my neck. Her body softened against mine as she swayed with the music. Now she was fucking acting. But she was too good now. Because my pulse was starting to feel uneven. She suddenly laughed at something I didn’t even say, lifting her chin until she was staring right at my face. From a distance, we probably looked like a couple insanely in love with each other. Megan’s fingers tightened slightly against the back of my neck. “Is he still looking?” “Yes,” I answered, my voice rougher than before. Her lips parted softly, and for one dangerous second, my eyes dropped to them. Damn. I couldn’t believe the thought crossing my mind right then, but Logan was right. She was hot. “Wow.” A sharp voice instantly made me pause. Megan stopped as well, following my gaze as a small frown sat between her brows. Nina stood a few feet away in a tight silver dress, arms folded across her chest. Her eyes dragged slowly over Megan before settling on me. “You replaced me with her?” she asked coldly. Megan instantly tried stepping away, but I tightened my hand on her waist without thinking. Nina noticed and her expression darkened. “Relax, Nina,” I smirked. “You’re starting to look jealous.” “Jealous?” She laughed sharply. “Please, I’m just surprised. She doesn’t really seem like your type.” Megan tensed beside me. “She’s exactly my type,” I said smoothly. If we were going to fake date each other, then I better make this as believable as possible. I couldn’t have Nina blurting out the truth to my grandmother. “I don’t know what you think you might achieve by interrupting us, but you should leave. We need to get back to dancing.” Before Nina could speak again, another voice joined us. “You’re dating him?” James directed the question at Megan, but she was too stunned to speak. “After what he did at that fucking restaurant?”Megan’s Pov“he just acts like he is the only one that has a freaking say, and there is nothing that can be done!” I hissed.Marley groaned, pushing her sunshade up her nose, trying to block the sun from her eyes, “Megan….”“Did you see what he did? In a freaking room filled with people he just had to pull that stunt…”“You should get over it, I think it was cute,” she whispered.“Cute? Cute? You mean being tossed over the shoulder like some freaking bag of potatoes is cute?” I hissed. She raised her hand in surrender, “Sorry, then I guess,” she grumbled under her breath, sipping more of her drink. “Come on, I am going to be late for my next class,” she mumbled. A groan slipped through her lips, “Gosh! I shouldn’t have drunk so much,” she mumbled.I scoffed, “You think?” I shouldn’t snap at her, this was Marley, the fun human who loved drinking and partying, I should have known it would happen. “Come on,” I muttered, picking up my bag as we walked out of the building. The first sn
Vinn’s Pov“If we are playing the Holly Boyd team, maybe we should stop taking game plan around them,” Caleb warned, his voice in a low slur obviously from the number of drinks he had had in his system.I huffed, trying hard not to look out for her, after my little possessive stunt, and practically forcing her to sit on my lap, Megan had obliged for a second, before excusing herself to talk to some girl who looked nothing like her roommate.Speaking of her roommate, I didn’t understand why she would stare at me with so much…. “vinn? Cap?”The sound caused my head to snap in the direction, “What?” I snapped, angry at them for interrupting my thought. They grinned, “We get it that you have a girlfriend, but can you talk to us for a second without looking for her?” Caleb said in a teasing tone. But I didn’t miss the frown that formed on his face, the slight anger in his eyes as he said the words.“Sorry,” but I wasn’t sorry. They knew it. “Well, I hope you all know that the drug tes
Sabrina’s PovThe sound of the faucet running, felt slightly comforting. But nothing could quell the tension that was in my chest. The urge felt stronger with each second my hands were under the water, the need to wash off the makeup and just…. Just breathe. But I thought about it, knew that if I washed it off, I would be taking away the hours of hard work that Marley had put in making me look this way.She wouldn’t hate it.But I didn’t want to be that person. “suck it up, you are almost at the end of the night,” I hissed under my breath, letting myself shake off the funk that I was feeling. I wondered if Vinn wouldn’t mind if I decided to leave. The sound of the door opening caused my head to turn in the direction, just like luck would beautifully have it, it was Nina, walking in with that look of anger on her face the second she found me. ‘I guess that is my cue to leave,’ I whispered.I got the memo, but she didn’t, because Nina stood by the door, blocking my path as she glared h
Megan’s PovThere are things I could never understand. Vinn’s way of wading through the attention. And then there is Nina, with her unhealthy obsession with me.The game had ended with a thunderous victory, I wasn’t going to lie and say I wasn’t impressed, because I was, watching vinn play was electric. I had screamed my voice sore. But some bits of the happiness were tampered, when my eyes would find Nina, jumping too close, acting like there was something….“You have had that sour look for a minute now, and I think I have to ask what is wrong,” Marley pointed out trying to grab my attention.I heaved a sigh, a sound that I was doing a thousand times too much. “Nothing,” I mumbled under my breath. She didn’t believe me, not when her eyes were on me with a frown on her face, “Don’t do that, talk to me,” she muttered, grabbing the eyeshadow brush as she applied the eyeshadow on my eyelids. We were heading for the hockey celebration dinner, Vinn had insisted that I come. And as punishm
Vinn’s Pov“Great game man,” A few guys from the team slapped my shoulder as we walked through the tunnel. The game wasn’t over yet, just a prolonged intermission, but I was happy for a minute to be far away from the loud chants.Megan, I couldn’t help but imagine what the game just felt like for her, I could lie and say playing extra hard hadn't been for her. But I don’t lie to myself, I made a show and now I would want nothing more than to know if she liked what she had seen.“Cap!” Caleb yelled behind me, running towards me. I huffed, already feeling the tiredness touch me from his approach. “Man, we have to throw some sick ass party, we are killing it!” he shared, the sound caused a few of the guys to grunt in agreement.“We can decide on that after the game,” I said in a gruff tone. “What does the saying go?” I stared at all of them.“We only plan to fail if we are acting too confident.” They chorused.I nodded, happy that they haven’t forgotten it. I didn’t want them to feel
Megan’s PovIt is easy to forget how much hockey this school loves. But tonight, like this, rare occasion that makes you remember that this town lives and breathes hockey. Stacey and I waved through the crowds, trying to get into the arena. Voices, excited chants could be heard from fans. Everyone had their colours on, tonight, the town was going crazy for the Vancleaf hockey team. The boys were here for the sport and the girls were the few who filled the arena, I could tell what they wanted, they had on the team’s jackets, all adorned with one number, 13. I guess I understood why he acted so conceited.“I know we are trying to be great physiotherapists, but this wasn’t part of the plan,” Stacey groaned beside me.I laughed, grabbing her hand as I moved further into the space, “Come on, it will be fun, we will be out of here before they know it.” Even the words sounded like a total lie to me, because I didn’t even know what to do.Vinn had said to show up, but he didn’t tell me wha
MEGANI could hardly breathe.Scratch that, I couldn’t even think. He tightened his grip on my shirt. “Tell me, what are you doing here?” His mouth was still pressed against my ear. I couldn’t even move. Humiliation, anger, and surprise slammed into me all at once. “Cat got your tongue?”“I school
MEGAN‘Marley…. I swear…” I gritted, my fingers digging into my hands, almost drawing out blood. She said her blind date was an ugly, trust-fund kid, yet, the smug, arrogant six-foot-four across from me was the total opposite.I sat upright and cleared my throat. Although, I was met with something
MEGANGracious heavens!I was $1500 short of my tuition fee. I’d drained every dollar I had saved juggling multiple jobs just to afford hostel accommodation, and I was still $1500 short for my college tuition.“Gracious…” I sighed, running my fingers through my hair as I crossed out the calculatio
MEGAN I can’t do this.I took long strides out of the restaurant, nearly falling because of how tall my heels were. I kept moving regardless, keeping my head low as the moment replayed in my head like it was stuck on a loop. James, my big-time crush, had seen me there. He had seen me in the shitt
