Angela's P.O.V

I quietly made my way back to my bedroom, relieved that no one had seen us. When I opened the door, I found Dante fast asleep on my bed. His shoes, jeans, and jacket were strewn across the floor. He had actually fallen asleep? He could not stay here tonight. My mum would come in to check on me before heading to work, and she would freak if she saw him in my bed.

I walked over and shook him gently. "Dante, you need to wake up. You cannot sleep here."

"Sleeping… shh," he mumbled, brushing me off.

"Dante!" I said more firmly, but he did not move or say a word.

He was in a deep sleep already? That could not be real. Who fell asleep that fast? Panic set in. What was I going to do? I glanced at the clock, just after one a.m. I supposed I could let him sleep for a few hours and set my phone alarm for maybe four a.m. That way, I could get him out before my parents noticed. I was not sure how his mum would react if he wandered home that early, but he probably did not care. He wa

Serene’s povThe following days were a trial by fire, the most grueling professional stretch of my life. The pace at Arden and Sons was relentless, a brutal marathon that made my tenure at Harry & Associates feel like a leisurely stroll. A constant stream of clients, a deluge of documents that multiplied on my desk, and the senior partners’ unyielding demand for flawless work defined every waking hour.Yet, beneath the sheer exhaustion, a cold dread had taken root. The encounter in the restroom haunted me. That voice, that intimate “Hey, Sereny”, it belonged to the man from the concert. He was the only person who had ever used that name for me. The true horror was in the implication: to find me at that company dinner, he knew exactly who I was. He was watching me. The thought was a fucking violation that made my skin prickle. Who was he, and what did he want from me? My gaze would sometimes drift suspiciously over my colleagues, but I knew the truth. I had first encountered this stran

  • A One Night Stand That Felt Like Revenge   “Hey, Sereny,” a soft, masculine voice

Serene’s povThe knot in my stomach was my only companion on my first morning at Arden and Sons. No amount of forced confidence in my stride or squaring of my shoulders could strangle the damn thing. I had burned my bridges at Harry & Associates with a terse resignation email the night before, offering no explanation beyond a hollow line about “pursuing other opportunities.” I let my manager’s calls go straight to voicemail this morning. There was no going back.I stood in the elevator of the Arden building, fifteen minutes early, the product of two hours of meticulous preparation. The transformation into Russell was becoming more efficient, a fact that was as terrifying as it was necessary. How long could my body withstand this daily reinvention? Aveline’s warnings about the physical cost of binding echoed in my mind.“One problem at a fucking time,” I breathed to my reflection in the polished elevator doors.Patricia, the receptionist, met me with a genuinely warm smile. “Good morni

  • A One Night Stand That Felt Like Revenge   My heart nearly leapt out of my chest in panic.

Serene’s povThe alarm buzzed at six, and I woke with a jolt. My face felt strange, rough in a way it never had before. When my fingers brushed my cheek, I felt short, scratchy stubble. For a moment I stared blankly at the mirror across the room, confused, until the memory of last night came rushing back.“Oh no,” I muttered under my breath. “I actually went through with it.”I hurried to the bathroom and switched on the light. The reflection staring back did not look like me. My brows were thicker, my lips seemed thinner, and the shading along my jaw made my cheekbones look more defined. Only my blue eyes gave me away.Aveline had outdone herself. We had spent hours the night before turning Serene Carrow into someone entirely new. She had taught me how to stand differently, how to walk with less sway, how to rest my voice lower without straining it. She showed me how to wear a compression vest that flattened my chest, how to rest my weight on my heels, and how to let my gestures feel

  • A One Night Stand That Felt Like Revenge   Today is the day

Serene’s povMy weekend could not have gone any worse. I spent most of it replaying every word that so-called love expert had said while drowning my frustration in ice cream and romantic movies that only made me feel even more pathetic.By Monday morning, I decided I had had enough of feeling miserable.“Today is the day,” I told my reflection as I applied my lipstick carefully. “No more watching from the sidelines.”I picked my best outfit, a navy pencil skirt that hugged my hips, a crisp white blouse, and the red heels that always gave me a sense of power. If I was finally going to speak to Kaelon Draven, I needed every bit of confidence I could find.Dr. Lysander’s words kept running through my mind, and every time they did, I rolled my eyes. What did he know? Some smug man pretending to understand love, telling me who I should or should not want. What a fraud.“Watch me prove you wrong,” I told my reflection, pretending it was his irritating face staring back. When I got to the of

When he offered his hand, I reached out before thinking, and the warmth of his touch almost made my knees buckle.“Hi,” I managed, my voice uneven as my brain scrambled for normal words. He released my hand and gave a polite smile. “Please, take a seat. Tell me what brings you here.”I tried to sit, but a sudden ache ran through my body, forcing me to shift until I found a position that did not hurt as much. I must have looked ridiculous, half-perched on the chair like someone afraid to move.“Are you alright, Ms. Carrow?” he asked, his green eyes studying me with quiet interest. The look made my face heat even more. “You seem to be uncomfortable.”“I am fine,” I replied too fast, crossing my legs, then changing my mind when that only made it worse. “Just a small muscle strain from the concert last night.”He smiled again, but this time there was a glint in his eyes that made my skin tingle. “Concerts can be very... memorable.”Something in the way he said it sent a shiver down my spi
