CHAPTER FIVE: A NEW HOME

Stacy

My vision blurs and it's like everything in the universe is ganging up against me. How could he be my Stepbrother?

“Hey there, little stepsister," he says with a smirk that grates on my nerves.

Mom turns to me and takes both my hands in hers. “Stacy I know I haven't really been quite the good mother lately, but I promise to change okay? I know I'm asking too much from you, but just this once. Please?"

I urge to tell her to fuck off, but she looked really happy when telling me about her new fiancee that it'll kill me to crush that.

And that is how I seal my fate for the next year or more.

After breakfast at our house, Jacob helps to pack all our things in his car.

“I'll go with Jacob, you ride with your stepbrother," Mom says smiling sweetly.

“What!" I protest, shaking my head. “No. Can't I just ride with you and Jacob, Mom?"

Jacob steps forward and puts a hand on my shoulder. “Dear, you should take this chance to bond with your brother. You'll both be spending more time together in the future after all.”

Before I can even protest, he and Mom get in the car and drive off. I'm left stranded at the side of the road with my Stepbrother as my only means of salvation.

" Come, let me give you a ride,” he offers, opening the door to his matte black Aston Martin.

" Did you know?” He raises his brows questioningly. “Did you know I am going to be your stepsister? Before you took advantage of me?"

“Advantage of you?" He scrunches his face like I just said something really ridiculous. “You are a twenty fucking years old adult who took part in a completely consensual sex. That is not taking advantage of you.”

I fold my arms over my chest and glare at him. " I was drunk.”

He shrugs. " Still moaned my name though. Now, are you taking said ride, or do I leave you to figure everything out yourself.”

" Fine!” I said getting into the car and slamming the door so hard, it's a miracle it doesn't fall off. He chuckles, gets in the driver's seat and we drive off.

The Henderson Villa is nothing like I have ever been to in my entire life. It's huge, painted white with heavily tinted dark windows, two fountains on either ends of the house, a beautifully trimmed lawn, a huge garden and a big swimming pool.

The inside is even more sophisticated with diamond chandeliers, bright walls and polished marble floors. Guards are stationed almost everywhere and maids are rushing about trying to get things done on time.

My bedroom is even more fancy and gives off the spoiled princess vibe. Pink walls and beddings, bright curtains and a huge walk-in closet.

I sigh as I place my final piece of my clothing in the closet. This is going to be my home for God knows how long, so I better make something good out of it.

“Try to look on the bright side,” Nika says over the phone. " You now have a father figure in your life who is willing to take care of you. You can attend a better school than that state university you keep going to.”

She's right, but that doesn't excuse how pathetic the whole situation is. "I slept with my stepbrother, Nika. How does that sound?”

" Well, you are right. But you were drunk and you didn't even know who he was. That's not on you.”

I'm about to respond when a knock comes on my door and it opens slightly. A maid pokes her head in. " Miss, the master demands your presence downstairs immediately.” She slips back out and shuts the door.

I pick up my phone. “I'll talk to you later. My stepfather wants to see me."

I hang up, slip the phone in my back Jean pocket and step out of my bedroom. I make my way downstairs to the living room where Jacob, mother and Josh are standing. A large number of maids and guards are gathered in the living room as well.

Mom smiles when she sees me and pulls me to stand beside her. Jacob simply nods and turns to the staff.

“Everyone, this is Stacy, Helena's daughter. She'll be staying here as from today and I want you all to accord her the same respect you give to Joshua and I. Is that clear?"

“Yes master," the staff reply.

“Good. You can get back to your jobs.’

The staff disperse and it's left just the four of us. He and Mom turn to us and he clears his throat.

I might just be paranoid, but something about Jacob just doesn't add up. There's something about him that makes my skin crawl and I feel like throwing up.

“I'm pleased to have you in my family, Stacy," he says with a smile and I nod. “Your mother has told me all about you and I'm pleased to be your new father."

I bite my lips to stop myself from telling him that no one can replace my father. No matter how hard he tries, he's never going to take my father's place.

“So, I enrolled you into Preston," He says. “You'll move out of the state university and transfer to Preston. If you have any troubles at school, you can tell Josh and he'll solve it immediately."

“Thank you, Jacob," is all I can manage to say without sounding impolite. He pulls something out of his pocket and hands it to me, his stoic look not changing.

He's like an iceberg that refuses to melt. I wonder what Mom saw in him.

“This is your credit card,” he says, handing me the black card. " You use that for your shopping and anything you need. You are under my care for the next good number of years and I will make sure you are well taken care of.”

I stare at the card and sigh inwardly. As if the mansion and new school isn't enough, he just had to top it off and make us look like his charity case.

STACYI wake up the next morning lying on my bed with Josh’s words from last night still running through my mind. What did he mean? Who is he talking about? My mother? Or someone else?I press my fingers against my temples, trying to push the thoughts away. But what bothers me even more is how Josh acted last night. Why was he so cold towards me? He's never spoken to me like that before. And why the hell does his behavior bother me more than what he actually told me?I get up from the bed, pushing the thoughts aside to get ready for school. I refuse to spend the entire morning wondering why he was so cold last night. After getting ready, I step out of the mansion, only to see Josh standing beside his car.His eyes meet mine.“I can give you a ride to school,” he says.“No thanks.”I walk past him toward the gates. A moment later, I hear his footsteps hurrying after me.“Stacy.”I keep walking.“Stacy, please. Just let me give you a ride to school. Please.”Something in his voice makes

I reach my father’s office and slam the door open.My father sits behind his desk, his attention fixed on the documents in front of him. My jaw locks as the anger inside me burns hotter with every second I look at him.I storm toward the desk, move around it, and grab him by the front of his shirt. He finally looks up at me.I pull him to his feet and drive my fist into his face. His head jerks to the side, and he stumbles backward into his chair.I stand over him, breathing hard, my fists still clenched.“You fucking bastard. You lied to me. Where is Adrian?”He keeps looking at me, his fist clenched at his side.“How dare you hit me, Josh?” He snaps.“I’ll hit you again if you don’t tell me where Adrian is right now.”He stares at me for a moment before letting out a slow breath.“I

JOSHMy entire body goes still at his words.A psychiatric hospital. For a few seconds, I don't know how to react. I stare at my father, waiting for him to take the words back or explain that I misunderstood him. But he says nothing.Adrian is just 5 years old. How could Father send him there?I only found out that I have a little brother when he was four. My father didn't tell me about him. I found out about Adrian on my own.I was never angry about the fact my father had a child somewhere else. I was more angry about the fact he hid it from me.And now, just when I finally have the chance to know him, Dad sends him away.“Where is the hospital?” I ask.My father's expression hardens again.“That's not your concern.”My brows pull together. ““What do you mean it's not my concern?”“It means you don't need to know.”I stare at him, barely believing what I'm hearing.“You just told me he's in a psychiatric hospital, and you're telling me I don't need to know where?”“He needs treatment

  • A One Night Stand With My Stepbrother    CHAPTER 20: Where Is He?

JOSHFlashing lights move across the crowded club, while loud music echoes around us, making the glasses on our table vibrate. We are in the VIP section, where the music is slightly quieter than on the main floor below. I sit back in the leather booth, listening to Lukas explain the latest progress while Mateo and Viktor watch him closely.“We’ve secured two alliances so far. The Serbs have agreed to the terms, and the Spanish are still on board. No changes from their side.” Lukas says.I nod, turning the glass between my fingers. “And the Petrovs?”“They've agreed to meet. They'll send me the date for the meeting since you've agreed to their terms.”My brows draw together as I think about the terms the Petrovs asked for in exchange for meeting with me.The Petrovs are exactly the kind of family we need an alliance with. Their terms aren't exactly convenient, but I agreed to date their daughter because I understand what the arrangement can buy us.Mateo leans forward. “That leaves the

STACYI spend most of the next morning thinking about Henderson Holdings. The name keeps coming back to me no matter how hard I try to push it away. My father had been involved in a legal dispute with the company before his death, and now I know that the company is connected to my stepfather. There has to be more to it.I sit at my desk and open my laptop again, determined to find out what I can. I search through old business records, articles, and anything else I can find about Henderson Holdings and my father's company. It takes several searches before I find something that catches my attention.A business article from years ago mentions a partnership between my father and the Henderson family.I stare at the screen. My father and my stepfather's family had been business partners.I read the article again, hoping I have misunderstood it, but the names are still there. The partnership had apparently lasted for several years before falling apart over a disagreement involving the compa

Before I can unzip it, there is a knock.I freeze.“Stacy?”Josh.I stare at the door for a moment before opening it.He stands in the hallway, his expression unreadable.“Can I come in?”I hesitate, then step aside. He walks in and closes the door behind him.“What?” I ask.“You tell me.”I fold my arms across my chest. “Why were you looking at my bag downstairs?”His brows pull together.“No I wasn't.”“You were.”Josh sighs and runs a hand through his hair. “I don't know what you think you saw, but you're wrong.”“Then why did you look like that when you saw me come in?”He doesn't answer immediately. That si
