VALERIE šŸŽ€

My head snapped towards his voice and and I found myself face to face with Zachary, crouched in front of me.

Amusement sparkled in his stormy blue eyes.

He looked relaxed.

My gaze swept over him. His tousled hair that he always rake a hand through, his chiselled jaw and those piercing blue eyes.

Nothing about this man seemed familiar to me.

But that little girl in the picture was me. I was sure of it because I had a photo of me when I was five.

He arched his eyebrows when he noticed I was checking him out.

"Nothing." I squeaked, flustered.

I tried to push myself up to my feet just as he did and our heads collided.

I winced and rubbed my forehead.

I could already feel a bump forming.

"What the hell is your head made of? Zachary grunted in annoyance.

"And what in God's name were you doing crammed under this thing?" he muttered, slipping an arm around my waist and yanking me to my feet with surprising ease.

My breath hitched at the sudden clos

VALERIE šŸŽ€ Her claws were wrapped around him, a smug smile on her face. And I was transported back to the time I caught her in bed with my first boyfriend, the moment that marked the end of our friendship. She wore the same smug expression now. Zachary's lips were parted in shock and I didn't like the way my heart dipped at the sight of him. I blinked, shaking my head. Trying to make sense of what I just saw. Hoping it was just a dream. But they sat there, Madison still pressed to Zachary. I kept my face neutral despite every cell in my body itching to snap that bitch's neck. "Oh, don't stop on my account." I muttered, brushing past them and heading to the bathroom. After relieving myself, I stepped out to find Zachary now sitting at the far end of the couch away from Madison who was pouting. When she saw me, the smug smile returned to her face. I ignored them and walked out, slamming the door shut. I took the stairs down and missed the last step . I closed my eyes, bracing

VALERIE šŸŽ€ "Please, just this once." Brenda whined, pouting. "No." I said sharply, shoving a spoonful of ice cream into my mouth. I was currently in an oversized t-shirt, sitting cross-legged on her sofa. My eyes were glued at the flat screen in front of me. "You have been in a bad mood since you got here and I just want to cheer you up." I hummed in response. I heard her exhale loudly beside me and the TV turned off. I whipped my neck towards her so fast that I thought it might snap. "Are you insane? That was the best part!"Finally, I got your attention." She muttered dryly. "Turn it back on, " I groaned, reaching for the remote but she tucked it under her arm.I huffed and gave up, returning my attention to my ice cream. In my peripheral vision, she shifted, propping her elbows on her knees. I could feel her eyes on me even without looking."What did Zachary do this time?I stiffened, the name alone made my stomach churn.I slowly turned to her, the spoon still hanging fro

ZACHARY šŸ‘”Ophelia, my tacky and overly clumsy secretary wobbled in. A stack of files balanced on her hands, her tablet clutched between her teeth. She almost tripped over the rug but Ian rushed and held her arm. She wasn't wearing her glasses. Again. "Thank you." She muttered as Ian helped her with the overloaded files, a face flushed red in deep contrast against her pale skin. "Ophelia, where are your glasses? I asked, rubbing my temple. She blinked up at me, eyes squinting slightly. "I… I think I left them in my office," she muttered sheepishly, retrieving the tablet from her mouth.Ian shot her a bemused look as he place the stack on my desk. I sighed. "You should go find them before you break your neck and file a lawsuit against me."She gave a quick nod and scurried off. Ian chuckled and turned to me. "Why does she looks like she's about to cry? Rubbing my neck, I walked behind my desk and settled into my chair. "She always look like that." I simply said. "And not be

ZACHARY šŸ‘” Sunlight streaked in through the blinds and I groaned, lifting a hand to shield my eyes from the rays. "Wakey, wakey." An annoying voice cut through the air and it didn't take me a second to know who it belonged to. Ian. What was he doing in my room? My head felt like it had been split into two and i rolled onto my bed or so I thought. I landed on the cold floor. The impact jolted me awake and I forced my eyes open. I looked around and realized that I fell from the couch in my office. A dull ache throbbed in my neck. I must have fallen asleep here. I rubbed my eyes and slowly sat , my body stiff from the awkward position I'd slept in last night. In my peripheral vision, I noticed a shadow. I lifted my head and squinted at the doorway. I recognized the familiar silhouette. Ian was leaning against the door frame, mirth dancing in his eyes. "How long have you been standing there?ā€ I asked, my voice raspy."Long enough to see you fall off" he replied. " And please do

VALERIE šŸŽ€ "You knew my mother? I asked slowly. " Yes, I do." She nodded with a warm, wistful smile. "She used to bring you over to our house every weekend. You were so cute then with your pigtails. Zachary would always follow you around like your little bodyguard."My breath caught in my throat. She laughed softly at the memory, her eyes glazing over. "You two were inseparable. He’d get so upset if anyone made you cry, even over a scraped knee.ā€My heart pounded in my chest. This didn’t make sense. I had no memory of this."Who knew you two would...." She paused, her smile faltered slightly when she saw the look on my face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to overwhelm you." She said, pressing her lips together. " No, you did not," I shook my head. " It's just I don't remember any of it.""Oh." Her eyes widened slightly and she quickly recovered. " You were just a child then. Surely you wouldn't remember everything." She said, waving it off. There it was again. I was just a child. I w

VALERIE šŸŽ€ The door creaked open, revealing my father's personal maid. Her face paled and her smile vanished when she saw me. "Ms. Valerie," she squeaked in a high pitched voice and I almost winced. "What are you doing here? I arched my brow at her ridiculous question. "Why? Am I not allowed in my father's house? " N... No, I didn't mean that." She hurriedly said, her face turning red. "You are blocking my path." I muttered, unimpressed. " Oh, sorry." She shifted awkwardly almost tripping. I walked past her without a word and the scent of my father's cologne hit my nose. I eyed her suspiciously and noticed her skin was flushed. I knew all too well that it wasn't because she was embarrassed. When she noticed I was staring, she lowered her head and I caught a glimpse of the reddish marks scattered on her neck. Love bites. I scoffed. He's got to be kidding me. I was about to lose my sanity and he was having the time of his life, sleeping with his maid.
