It was sunny but all windy weather in the terrace and a good amount of people were having lunch there but still they barely filled only the half of the tables . Maybe, people mostly preferred having food in their suites.

"Come let's go there."

Enzo pointed at a table which was decorated beautifully like it was arranged for a date.

"Isn't it reserved?"

I asked him because maybe it was for some couple, why would they decorate it heavily, everyday.

"The reservation was cancelled."

He said looking at his tab and then he pushed it toward me to take a look. There were rows and columns in the screen telling the table numbers and those who reserved or cancelled it.

"Hmm ...Quite a managerial work."

I admitted. He smiled and we went towards the table and sat down, the smell of hyacinth and roses was exquisite and one can sit there until they fade. It wouldn't take long though. A woman approached us as soon as we settled on the table, they knew how to impress their boss, which was still Enzo.

"What would you like to have sir?"

She asked with a formal smile plastered on her face and a bit of petrified emotion she tried to suppress behind. Enzo looked at me for my answer.

"A chicken lettuce wrap and a salmon and avocado salad will do."

I said, scanning through the menu and finally closing it as I gave my order. She turned to Enzo and he said,

"A caprese salad with pesto sauce and a mushroom risotto."

He ordered and she went back with a smile.

"Would you like to drink something?"

Enzo asked as he was looking at the decoration. It would have felt totally romantic if I was here with someone I loved and maybe even with Alantino, a few hours back. Enzo and I were practically enemies before,if things had gone well with me and Alantino, but now he was my savior,he saved me when I needed protection the most and helped me, maybe it's because he wanted the same and keeping me at his side, he would enjoy the torturing even more. But I would always respect him for what he did for me, knowingly or unknowingly, intentionally or unintentionally. I would always make sure whatever I do,until in this mafia world, my deed would always favor Enzo. There was this respect and good image of him, formed in my heart that I didn't wanted to neglect and neither wanted to show.

"No.I don't drink alcohol."

I told him after a moment of silence.

"Then something non-alcoholic?"

He questioned and I didn't felt like drinking anything now as I was more hungry than thirsty.

"No it's fine."

I admitted and he ordered a red wine for himself. Our lunch came and we ate it quietly and after having meal it felt so good as I wasn't used to being hungry, the only thing I enjoyed at my father's house was that maid were always ready to prepare whatever I wanted to eat, whenever I wished. And I was a big foody.

"What are we going to do next?"

I asked him promptly as we entered the elevator. Now that I had fed my stomach, I had much more level of energy to work.

"I thought this was it for today I would explain you the details of work, what exactly you have to work on , at home."

Enzo told and he was right I couldn't just only roam around the whole property, I had to learn business too.

"Yeah. We should probably head back."

I said and we went back to Enzo's home and my temporary residence. There was no one there, no guards, no servants. Everything was properly organised and clean. I think the servants already did their jobs. Enzo went and took a seat on the couch, throwing himself in the plush leather couch and casually shoved his arms and legs. He was tired or maybe not. All these things wouldn't make him tired. He was a fighter, a mafia. I took a seat on the adjacent chair and thought of removing my blazer but then the top I wore inside was too revealing. I managed in the heat whereas Enzo was already out of his tux and had unbuttoned half of his.

"You were going to talk about my duties.. "

I said and he looked at me,

"Don't you feel hot. Go and change into something casual."

He ordered and I was thankful for it. I went toward my room changed into a tank top with matching pajamas and tied my hairs into a bun and wiped my makeup away. I went back to the hallway but Enzo wasn't there may be he went to change as well. I thought of touring the house but I wasn't sure if was allowed to. Then I walked outside, into the garden and the familiar scent of hyacinth filled my nose. And I realised Enzo had them planted in his gardens with some other beautiful ornamental and flowery plants. I thought of wandering around more but the sun was just too much hot today. I went back inside and there was a wall in the doorway, decorated with photographs. I thought it might have some snaps of Enzo's childhood, or family. But all the photographs were only those of his business trips and with famous entrepreneurs around the world. Only one photograph drew my attention that was of a little boy holding hand of a beautiful girl who looked from a royal family. I suppose it was his sister. And the way Enzo held onto her made me realize, how much he might have loved his sister that he still cared to place his snap with her framed in one of the most prominent walls of his apartment. I heard the hard footsteps and went towards the hall. I don't think making Enzo wait for my purpose would be good.

I settled down on the couch and Enzo sat next to me in a gym vest and shorts. Was he training or working out  now? He was sweaty but not much to bother. He switched on the MacBook he carried along and opened a document named Rexivo.

"Here, these are the details of the suites and rooms and their bookings which are updated by our receptionists as soon as someone books a room. You can check it out if have any query and it isn't necessary to go through it everyday as our receptionists are good managing it."

He said and went on explaining me everything I needed to know to start my work and it wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be but it wasn't exactly easy either.

"We have got the information that the capo of London would be visiting Milan next week and he would surely stay in a hotel owned by either Alantino or us. It would be a great advantage for us and our business if he stays in our hotel. As he is a very strong capo and could help us in our illegal businesses in his country also which I need the most at me this time because Alantino Russo is being a great trouble now a days I have lost many of my men and drugs because of him. He won't let my drug business go well in Italy. I need the support of Benjamin Williams. The capo of London for the same."

He told me and the desire of winning over Alantino was clearly visible in his eyes. I would do anything to take this opportunity at our hand. If Enzo said Williams support is important, then it obviously was. I was looking forward to show Alantino my comeback for the first time. That would be fun.

"You should be sleeping now, you already had alcohol and I remember you refused to have champagne in your wedding, saying, you don't consume any alcoholic thing. When did you start drinking alcohol?"She asked in a solemn tone. She was worried at my situation, I wondered how pathetic I must have looked for her to be this concerned for my alcohol consumption."I still don't usually drink alcohol, this was the second time I did."I told her and a realisation struck her as her expression changed and gave me an encouraging smile."You've been through a lot Valerie but you must choose your ways wisely. Alcohol will only make ugh distracted from your goals and attracted to it."She explained to me as she helped me wipe my makeup off and undo my hairs."Mrs Russo... • A Perfidious Relationship    A genuine person

Mrs Russo helped me reach my home and I was feeling much better in the silence. She put her hand on my head and smoothened my hairs. Then gently sat beside me on the bed."Are you okay Valerie?"She asked gently with a motherly love, that I almost felt like hugging her and crying all my problems out. The void was so filled with depression. I was tired of all this, I didn't want to fight anymore but I couldn't even step back now. How many things would I have deal to survive in this world? I wanted to live not just survive."Not really."I answered in a hushed tone. I wasn't sure what to say, to tell her his son was the ultimate reason of all my suffering? Or should I tell her that her husband was the worst man I've ever seen? I couldn't, she was being nice to me and I couldn't take that for granted. I know she could only help me till she saw no threat in me but if I started making her familiar with my rea

  • A Perfidious Relationship    The punishment

"What are you doing Alantino? He's the son of one of our underbosses."Mr Russo reminded him but his expressions remained same. Deadly."He dared to touch Valerie."He said in a voice that would make anyone tremble out of fear and many of the people gathered around dance floor were already frightened. No-one would want to get their name associated with what that guy had been doing with me. And I could see many of them had already made a distance from me."That doesn't mean you'll beat him to death."Said Mr Russo as he gave a disgusted look towards the man lying on the floor drenched in blood. Then another disgusted look at my way."What did he exactly do?"He asked me and was he fucking kidding me, by asking me in what way did the man harass me, in front of everyone?"What did he do Valerie?"He asked again

  • A Perfidious Relationship    The vodka shots

"You look fabulous, Valerie!"Complimented Mrs Russo, who herself looked epitome of charisma. She always managed to look so effortlessly beautiful, she had a great sense in fashion."You look stunning! "I couldn't stop myself from complimenting her, she looked so gorgeous."Should we have something to drink, dear?"She asked and I knew her drink meant having to join other ladies, wives of mafia men."Yeah sure."I said despite the urge of not wanting to face those trophy wives who had poor ideologies of a lady and I certainly did not wanted to be their next target to have tea about. But then, Mrs Russo was the only person that would be easy to go with and I couldn't possibly be alone throughout the whole party.Mrs Russo directed me towards a group of ladies siting around the table, drinking and laughing and gossiping...
