Chapter Fourteen

Elena stood in the middle of her room, heart still pounding.

She had walked away from freedom.

Not because she trusted them. Not because she believed their twisted idea of choice.

But because something deep inside her whispered not yet.

Not yet.

Once.

Twice.

She said nothing.

The door creaked open anyway.

Of course.

Gabriel strolled in like he owned the air in the room. Shirt half-buttoned, sleeves rolled, chain hanging loose against his chest. His smile was lazy, but his eyes?

Chapter 45: The Devil’s Nun and the Ghost’s BrotherThe school hallways were buzzing.Posters.Invitations.Whispers.Everyone was talking about the biggest Halloween party of the year.Even the rich brats.Especially the rich brats.Elena rolled her eyes when Mia shoved a glittery flyer into her hand.“You’re coming,” Mia ordered.Elena scoffed. “I don’t do parties.”Mia grinned. “You do now.”Elena sighed. She needed a distraction.Anything to drown the suffocating games the mafia was playing with her head.Fine.Party it is.But if she was going… she was going all in.Elena dragged Mia to the city’s biggest mall. They tried on outfits that made Mia whistle and Elena blush. But something dark inside Elena craved it.Craved to feel something other than fear.Pain.Submission.She wanted to be reckless.Wild.Alive.She bought shoes she didn’t need.Makeup in every shade.Perfume that smelled like sin.Mia giggled at first, but after the fourth expensive bag, her laughter faded.“Uh…

Chapter 45: The Ghost in Their CircleThe mansion was colder than usual.Even with the heat of the day, the air inside smelled like suspicion.Gabriel sat in the war room, staring at the digital map of their network.Alessio stood in the shadows, arms folded, face locked in stone. The silence stretched.Gabriel finally broke it. “It’s not over.”Alessio’s eyes flickered to the screen. “No.”Gabriel’s voice was dark, dangerous. “Lulu folded too fast.”Alessio nodded once. “She’s weak. Spoiled. The videos destroyed her. But the leak… the leak wasn’t her.”Gabriel clenched his jaw. “No. Someone else fed the wrong people.”The room filled with thick smoke as Gabriel dragged on his cigar.“Find the rat,” he growled.Alessio turned to the IT specialist. “Expand the net. I want eyes on every student. Every teacher. Every janitor.”The specialist nodded. “Yes, sir.”Gabriel exhaled slowly, tapping the ashes into the tray. “And Elena…”Alessio’s jaw tightened.“She’s not clean either,” Gabriel

Chapter 43: The Puppeteers Behind the CurtainsInside the De Luca mansion, the walls were thick. The windows tinted. The air smelled of cigars and gunpowder.Gabriel sat in the dark study, feet on the polished desk, cigar dangling from his lips.Smoke curled around him like a lazy serpent. He watched the live footage from the school on the big screen, his eyes half-lidded, bored but focused.Alessio stood by the window, cleaning his favorite gun, piece by piece, the cold metal reflecting the city lights. The scene on the screen was messy.Loud.Predictable.Lulu.Her bratty tantrum.Calling the police over a damn backpack.Gabriel chuckled dryly. “What a show.”Alessio’s lips curled into a faint smirk. “Spoiled, loud, stupid.”Gabriel blew smoke at the screen. “But sometimes the stupid ones have powerful fathers.”Alessio hummed. “Or mothers.”Gabriel tilted his head. “Do you think it’s her family we’re looking at? Could be them behind the weapons leak in the East.”Alessio’s eyes nar

Chapter 42 :AccusedElena woke up the next morning, her skin still tingling from the spa.Her muscles soft. Her face glowing. She hated herself for admitting it… but she had slept like a queen. Her body felt light. Her reflection looked different. Her hair smooth. Her eyes brighter. Her skin shining like she’d been kissed by luxury. She pulled on her uniform, tied her hair into neat pigtails, and slung the new black backpack Gabriel had casually tossed on her bed—she didn’t even check the label. She thought it was just another of his mind games.Whatever.She was done fighting every little thing. For now.She stepped into school with a small smile tugging at her lips.Let them stare.Let them gossip. She didn’t care today.Mia gasped when she saw her. “Girl, whoa. Did you get a glow-up? You look… expensive.”Elena shrugged. “Slept well.”Mia grinned. “About damn time.”They walked down the hallway.Heads turned.Whispers followed. But it didn’t feel the same. This time, the whispers w

Chapter 41: The Puppet StringsElena looked at herself in the mirror. The black leather shirt dress hugged her curves like a second skin. Her boots clicked on the floor with every step. Her lips were painted blood red.She looked like trouble. And she liked it.She tossed her hair back and strutted out like she owned the world.Mia cheered. “Hot damn, girl. If Lulu sees you like this, she’ll choke.”Elena smirked. “Let her.”But inside, her heart beat a different rhythm.Tonight wasn’t about showing off.Tonight was about rebellion.About spending their damn money.About pushing their patience until they snapped. She grabbed her phone, glancing at the cash app balance.Still fat.Still forbidden. And she planned to spend every last drop. But first… the party.Mia dragged her to the hottest club in the city.It was packed.Loud.Sweaty.Men flocked to her the moment she walked in.They reached for her.Offered drinks.Whispered filthy things in her ear.But Elena ignored them all.She

Chapter 40: The Shopping GameElena stared at her reflection. The bruises on her neck were ugly. Dark. Angry.Gabriel and Alessio made sure of that. She pulled the collar of her dress higher, but the marks still peeked through. There was no hiding them.Unless…Her door creaked open.Mia walked in, gasping the moment she saw Elena’s neck.“Holy hell, girl!” Mia yelped, rushing toward her. “What the actual fuck happened to you?”Elena froze. She didn’t have the strength to lie.But she couldn’t tell the truth either.Mia dragged her to the mirror, poking at the hickeys. “Are you secretly dating some psycho? This is… savage.”Elena forced a bitter smile. “It’s… complicated.”Mia rolled her eyes. “Girl, this is a crime scene, not a love bite.”She pulled out her makeup bag. “Sit. We’re covering this mess before Lulu sees it and turns it into an Instagram story.”Elena sat.Mia worked fast, dabbing concealer, brushing powder, layering foundation.“Spill,” Mia demanded. “Who did this?”Ele

Chapter 39: The Scars They LeaveElena returned late.Very late. The streets were quiet. Empty. Shadows stretched like ghosts. She walked slowly, her heart still pounding from the rush of the tattoo shop, the laughter with Mia, the thrill of doing something just for her.She touched the fresh ink on her wrist, smiling to herself. For once, she felt alive. For once, she wasn’t someone’s prisoner. She wasn’t their pet.She wasn’t their spy.She was just… Elena. But the moment she stepped through the mansion gates, that feeling vanished. The air was too still.Too heavy.Too cold. Her footsteps echoed like a warning.Something was wrong. Her stomach twisted. She walked inside. The lights were off.Silent.Dark.She crept through the hallway, her shoes barely making a sound.Maybe they didn’t notice she came late.Maybe they didn’t care. But as she reached the living room, the lights snapped on.Blinding.And there they were.Alessio.Gabriel.Sitting on the couch like kings on their thro

Chapter 38: The Tattoo of DefianceElena woke up to pain. Her head throbbed. Her stomach felt like someone had slammed a brick into it.She lay on her cold bed, the events of the night clawing at her mind. The humiliation. The laughter. The cruel eyes watching her fall like she was nothing. Her hands clenched the sheets tightly, her nails digging into the fabric. She could still feel the taste of blood in her mouth. But she refused to cry.Not again.Never again. She sat up slowly, groaning from the ache in her ribs. Her reflection in the mirror made her flinch. Her face was pale. Her lips bruised. The old scars on her arms stood out, angry and fresh-looking now.Elena touched them gently. She hated them. But today, she wouldn’t hide them.Today, they would be her armor. She cleaned up carefully, wiping away the dried blood, brushing her tangled hair into neat pigtails. Her eyes stared back at her in the mirror.Hard.Unforgiving.She whispered to herself. “I’ll play along. I’ll prete
