Chapter 29 :When the Body Gives Up

Diana’s POV

Life still isn’t easy, but at least now… I’m not alone.

Since my mom came to stay with me, things started getting a little better. She didn’t just bring food and baby clothes. She brought strength. Real motherly strength.

Every morning, before I’m fully awake, she’s already swept the compound, boiled water, and started cooking. If I’m getting ready for work, she helps me iron my clothes, rubs my back gently, pray for me and even walks me to the main road.

“Diana, you will make it,” she always says. “This little baking business will grow. I believe in you.”

I didn’t know that hearing someone say “I believe in you” could give me so much strength.

Chapter 31: A Cry Before the StormDiana’s POVAfter many weeks of rest, I finally felt like myself again. The sun entered my window softly that morning, waking me up gently. I stretched slowly, placing my hand on my belly. It had grown round and firm. The baby was alive, kicking small kicks like a shy knock on a door. I smiled. I can’t believe we’re 9 months already. And I can’t wait to welcome my little miracle. But “I’m going back to work little one. "I said, as I rubbed my belly gently. And whispered to myself.Of course, it wasn't heavy work. I wasn’t planning to kill myself again. But I was ready to start my business slowly again since my mom wasn’t able to do justice to that. This time, I will take small orders, make small chin-chin packs, and maybe even employ an assistant to manage things better if I’m not around. As I stood up, I looked around my small room. My mom had cleaned everything. The whole place smelled like Dettol and baby powder. She had made it feel like peace.
