Eros

“This is against our company rules. No female employee should stay back after 9 p.m.” Dad’s stern voice lifted my guilt. So that was what she was here for—to complain about me! I seethed with fury, the guilt evaporating into the air.

Dad gave me an annoyed look. “What’s going on, Eros? Why was she working so late?”

I racked my brain to think of an excuse. What could I say? I lost my mind out of sheer jealousy and forgot the company rules.

Anacá gasped and gave me a nervous look. “Dad, you’re misunderstanding me. I couldn’t complete the work on time. So I stayed back. Eros had asked me to leave, but I need this job badly.”

I scowled at her. Was she crazy? How could she complain to Dad about my threat to her?

“Why would you lose your job? You’re my daughter-in-law. In fact, you shouldn’t be working as a PA in your company. You should be co-working with Eros in a similar respectable position as a director or GM. What’s going on, Eros?”

My jaw dropped to the floor. So that was why sh

ErosI couldn’t wait until the next day. What if fresh problems cropped up? I wanted to seek Anacá out right now. There wasn’t much time left with me. I wouldn’t let her file for divorce.Sucking in a deep breath, I drove over to Josh’s house reluctantly. I hated going there repeatedly, but Anacá left me with no choice. After ten minutes, I parked the car and walked up to the gates. Strangely, the house looked freshly renovated but deserted. Even their cars were missing from the garage. Did they not live here anymore?I glanced around and noticed a middle-aged woman staring at me from the house next door. Did she consider me a trespasser? “Hello! Has the Hemmingway family gone somewhere?” I asked her, taking a step or two in her direction. She nodded. “Yes, they’ve gone to Agapi Events on the next block for their son’s wedding.”A gasp of horror escaped my lips as I tried my best to hold back an expletive. “Whose wedding? Josh’s?”She nodded warily. “Yes, obviously. Who else?” She wal

ErosTwo Months Later My phone buzzed with an incoming call from Zion, and I frowned. Why was he calling me? Had he patched up with Andrea? For the last two months, I have been shuttling between Juneau, Miami, Seattle, and Galveston. While Port Canaveral was our home port in the US, we were developing Emerald’s new cruise itinerary in the rest of the port cities. Therefore, I hadn’t found the time to return home to Athens since the day I left. It was the same day that Mr. Murphy came to visit me. Mr. Ford updated me about Anacá’s visit to the office a week later to collect her dues and sign the termination agreement. If she thought it ended our chapter, she was wrong. She was still my wife, and I had every right to pursue her. I just gave her time to heal. The call disconnected, and I wrapped up my work in Juneau. Tonight, I would fly to Miami and then back to Athens. The phone again buzzed, and this time, I took his call. “Yes, bro. How are you?” I could hear him panting at the

ErosI seethed with fury as I stared at my laptop screen. I hadn’t expected Anacá to fight me. So, she didn’t need the job. It was all a fake show to gather sympathy. I wondered who was supporting her against me. The answer was obvious. It had to be Josh and his family. The day my office security called me, I reached the office at midnight, and he informed me about Anacá’s departure. Someone took her away. If my car hadn’t given me problems that night, I would have reached earlier and faced Josh. Anacá hadn’t completed the work I gave her. Obviously, I hadn’t expected her to. But I wouldn’t have thrown her out for incompetence. Maybe I would have just warned her. Now that she had hired an attorney to fight her case, it wouldn’t make me release her. I wanted her to suffer the way she was making me pine for her. I could tolerate anything but not betrayal. If she loved Josh so much, she shouldn’t have married me at all. Now she was dying for Josh. Wasn’t it too late?If she expected

AnacáIt was almost 11:30 p.m., and I had completed only half the work Eros had sent me. It looked like a lost case today. Fatigue and hunger took a toll on me, and I knew I couldn’t continue anymore. Eros was purposely playing this game with me. It was inhuman. The urge to quit and rest my tired body was immense.“Miss, go home. I will lock up the office and leave at midnight. The night guards will be here to patrol around. It isn’t safe for you to stay back,” said the guard for the tenth time. I sighed helplessly. If I went home, Eros would throw me out of the job. I needed the money so badly. “Five more minutes, please.” I closed my eyes briefly as a wave of dizziness hit me hard. Suddenly, everything blacked out, and I grabbed onto my head. “Miss, are you alright? Someone is waiting downstairs for almost two hours to take you home. Should I call him?” The guard’s voice reached me as I tried to get a grip on myself. I knew Uncle David was waiting for me. He might not be related

Eros Before I could rush after Anacá to check who was waiting for her, my phone buzzed with a call from Theia. What could she want? She never called me uselessly. Reluctantly, I accepted her call. “Yes, Theia.” “Eros, your dad fell down at the club today. They’ve admitted him to Dunant Medical Center. I’m here already. Please, can you make it soon?” She sobbed on the phone while my heart constricted with fear. “I’ll be there right away.” I rushed out and drove towards the hospital, feeling panic settle in my heart. Nothing could happen to my dad. He was the only one I had.Parking the car, I rushed inside to see Theia in the Emergency Department. “How is Dad? Where is he now?” “They’re getting him ready for surgery. Please, can you handle the formalities?” There wasn’t a minute to lose as the emergency department staff guided me with the formalities. I couldn’t see my dad anywhere. “He’s in the OT with a hip and humerus bone fracture, concussion, and a broken rib cage. There’s

Anacá“You’ll be discharged today, Anacá. Are you feeling better now?” asked Mr. Murphy, my neighbor. After a day in the hospital, I really did.“Yes, thank you, Mr. Murphy. I’m much better now.”After returning home from LA, I had gone to their house to fetch Lucy, but fell unconscious. Mr. Murphy and his wife, Deborah, revived me. Lucy was pregnant with Pilot’s pups, and I had to leave her with them before heading to San Francisco. Now her delivery was due any day, and Deborah didn’t want her moving around.Once better, I went back to my dad’s house next door, but depression, dehydration, and insomnia took a toll on my health. Although Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Dana wanted to help me, I cut myself off from them. I didn’t want to be associated with Josh in any way. After his behavior, even his parents were ashamed of him and respected my wishes. Now, on my own, I would have been critical if Mr. Murphy hadn’t forced me to go to the hospital.“I’ll take care of the discharge formalities.”

  • A Reckless Alliance - Falling For My Billionaire Boss   Chapter Fifty-Three – Anacá’s Threat

ErosI landed in Athens the next day and loaded our luggage into my car. My first reaction was to rush over to Josh Hemmingway’s house and confront her. I was sure she had gone there. But my phone buzzed with a message, and I checked before heading towards Josh’s house. To my immense surprise, it was a message from Anacá.I have returned home. Please send me my luggage. You don’t need to visit me. Just send all my stuff from your house. I’ll bear the costs. When I’m better, I’ll come down to work. You can deduct my pay. This is a desperate request for you. Please stay away from me. If you don’t, I’ll seek police protection or commit suicide, and you’ll be the only one to blame. Anacá.I gasped with horror, rereading her message slowly. “F*ck!” I clenched my hands together in frustration. Home? Was Josh’s house her home? Where would I send her the luggage? Mad fury coursed through my body as I glared at the screen. Would she really commit suicide and blame me? Why couldn’t she blam

ErosI saw red the moment she hit me. Trembling with fury, I stood frozen for a split second to swallow the insult. I couldn’t react here, but once outside, I would definitely punish her in the worst way possible. She would remember it all her life before lashing out at me! I hated women. Now I realized why my dad had never married. How dare she hit me? I sucked in a deep breath and focused on her, but she had disappeared, taking advantage of my momentary lapse. Where did she go? Wasn’t she here a second ago? I punched in her phone number, only to remember her phone had no charge. Mad fury coursed through my veins as I whirled around and retraced my steps back to our table in the VIP section. But Anacá was nowhere in sight. So she hadn’t come back here. Maybe she had gone to the apartment. “Maddox, can you help me?” I motioned to him to follow me outside, and he did with a frown. I walked out of the club, searching everywhere. Yet there were no signs of her. How did she vanish so
