Riven.

“Sky, I’m… I’m not here for this. I came to talk.”

He blinked, nodding slightly. “Then talk.”

How could I talk when he was looking at me like that?

“I… I—”

“You’re so cute. You know that?” he interrupted.

My chest knotted, a huge lump formed in my throat.

He was doing that nonsense with me again.

“Don’t flirt with me, Skyler. I’m not your boyfriend.”

He tilted his head to the side, looking intensely at me. A small smile formed on his lips. “Then why are you here?”

I retrieved my gaze from him.

“Because I wanted to talk about—”

“Shhh…” he shushed me, cutting me mid-sentence.

“You’re such a liar...” he whispered. “You missed me, didn’t you?”

What?

I huffed. “Missed you? You wish.”

“Then why are you here by…” He turned to the side. I turned with him. My eyes landed on a wall clock. “...9 p.m.” He turned back to me. “Dressed like a spy intruding on the enemy’s territory.”

A small smile slipped onto my lips. That was funny.

“You smiled,” he said, his thumb stroking the small of my b

Sky.The locker room smelled like sweat, ice, and victory, but to me, it felt like a cage.We had just won the game, and the guys were buzzing, but I kept my head down.I was busy trying to peel the tape off my wrists and, more importantly, trying not to look at Riven.I had been avoiding him since that night, trying my best, even if it was not easy. My heart felt heavy every time he breathed in my direction.Riven, though? He seemed fine.He looked like he had finally accepted what I said. But how could he move on so fast? How?How can he show me love and then, boom—no slips, nothing. He is absolutely fine. All cheers and grins. But it’s a good thing, right? It's a good thing that he is not in sorrow. At least that was supposed to make me feel better.Shit.I didn't even know what I was thinking.Suddenly, I heard the door swing open.“All hail the Luna!” Jade bellowed, his voice echoing through the busy space. “Make way for the Queen!” someone else shouted. The room went quiet, then

I slumped against the door of my suite. My body ached.I had just finished with Riven, after hours of going back and forth.Damn.I swear, I had never seen that guy like that. Not once, not ever. For real, if I was being honest, I didn't know how long it would take him to soak it in and come to terms with that rejection from Sky. But I knew that he would—it just needed time. Possibly a lot... of time. And for Sky, goddess knew that whenever and wherever I saw him, he would definitely see my bad side. All I wanted now was a hot shower and a bed that didn't talk back.I was in my suite, and immediately when I stepped inside, my nose flared. I froze. There was a familiar scent in the house. I looked around, and I caught the shadow even in the dim light of the room."You’re late, Beta," a smooth voice purred.I sighed, rubbing my temples. "Xander. How did you even get in here?" I asked, because I knew I locked it.Xander stood up, adjusting his shirt. "I have my ways. You’ve been ignoring

Sky.The sound of the door slamming was the loudest thing I had ever heard. It echoed through the hallway, but it felt like it was echoing inside my skull. It was like I had just shut my breath out of my soul.I stood on the other side of that wood, my back pressed against it. My legs gave out, knees weak, and I slid down until I was sitting on the floor, my head buried in my knees."I'm sorry," I whispered into the empty room. "I'm so sorry, Riven."My chest felt like it was being ripped open by a dull blade. I had just destroyed the only good thing I had ever owned. The only thing that seemed to make me happy after years of dwelling in pain and silent melancholy.I had looked into the eyes of the guy I loved—the guy who looked at me like I was his entire world days ago—and I had called him a "fling." I had called him "boring."I wanted to throw up.Every word I had just said felt like a lie that burned my throat on the way out. When he kissed me, for one second, I almost gave up. I

Riven. It’s been days, three—or more— since I had last seen Skyler. He was not in practice, not in classes. Nowhere. Although I didn’t go to his dorm.I had sent him dozens of texts. I had called him until my phone died. Nothing. No blue ticks, no “typing…” bubbles—just silence. My heart felt like it was being squeezed in a fist every time I checked my screen.I couldn’t take it anymore. I decided to head to his dorm. Even if I wanted to be positive, I didn’t want to think that he probably was no more in the pack and maybe he had just disappeared.I got to the door, pressing the doorbell. I waited for a while before the door opened. It was him.He… he just stood there. He wasn’t smiling. He didn’t look happy to see me. He looked… bored? Tired.“Sky,” I breathed, a wave of relief washing over me. “Care to explain why you haven’t been taking my calls? I thought something happened.”“Nothing happened,” he said. His voice was flat, void of emotion and warmth.I furrowed my brow. I didn’t

Lara.Flashback continues…I stared at him, shocked. Alex was Skyler’s boyfriend? Okay, this was now making sense. He wasn't here because he wanted to just taint Riven’s image. He wasn't also here just for blackmail. He was here for a bargain."If he's your boyfriend, why don't you just tell him to stop?" I asked, trying to find my voice. "Why bring me into this?"Alex’s face turned stony. "Because if I tell him, he’ll fight me. Your Riven has seduced him to that point—to the point that he doesn't care about me anymore. But if you make things impossible for Riven—if you remind him of his duty, if you make him feel the weight of his father’s expectations—then he’ll pull away. Skyler won't have a choice but to come back to me.""And if I don't?" I challenged, though my voice was shaking.Alex leaned down, his face inches from mine. "If you don't, I’ll send these photos to the Alpha tonight. I’ll leak them to the whole pack. Riven will be exiled. You’ll be a laughingstock. And Skyler? He

Lara.Earlier that day....The locker room was busy, students trooping in and out of the arena. Murmurs everywhere.I reached for the handle of my locker. I had class, but my mind was occupied—fully occupied with Riven. He hadn’t talked to me for days. He wasn't taking my calls. And to make it worse, he was literally avoiding me.I was the future Luna, yet I felt like a ghost walking the halls of Silverfang High. I felt useless—more useless as the days went by.The coronation was approaching seriously close. Yet my Alpha didn't seem like he wanted me even for a minute.Even when I thought I could handle it, it had gotten unbearable. Now it was an ache I didn't know how long I could bear.As I pulled the door open, something white fluttered out and landed on my shoes.I furrowed my brows. Looking down, it was an envelope.I tore it open. There was a small yellow card in it.No name.Just a date, a time—**6:30 p.m.—**and an address: the school library, seat no. 555.On the back, in shar
