“Sky, I’m… I’m not here for this. I came to talk.”

He blinked, nodding slightly. “Then talk.”

How could I talk when he was looking at me like that?

“I… I—”

“You’re so cute. You know that?” he interrupted.

My chest knotted, a huge lump formed in my throat.

He was doing that nonsense with me again.

“Don’t flirt with me, Skyler. I’m not your boyfriend.”

I retrieved my gaze from him.

“Because I wanted to talk about—”

“Shhh…” he shushed me, cutting me mid-sentence.

“You’re such a liar...” he whispered. “You missed me, didn’t you?”

I huffed. “Missed you? You wish.”

“Then why are you here by…” He turned to the side. I turned with him. My eyes landed on a wall clock. “...9 p.m.” He turned back to me. “Dressed like a spy intruding on the enemy’s territory.”
