Damien’s POV

SLAP!

The sharp sound rang through the apartment, leaving behind a silence so thick it rammed against my chest, making it hard to breathe.

I didn’t move. Theo didn’t move.

Celeste… she didn’t even flinch. She just stood there, her posture rigid, her gaze flaring with an icy finality I had never seen before.

"Get out," she said, her voice calm but razor-sharp. "Or I’ll call the police."

I blinked. I heard her, but my body refused to register the words.

She hit me. She had actually hit me.

For him.

My pulse pounded in my ears, drowning out all logic. My cheek burned, but the sting was nothing compared to the ache spreading through my chest.

"Are you serious right now?" My voice came out hoarse, raw. "You’d call the police? On me?"

"Yes," she spat out. "Try me."

A humorless chuckle escaped me, but it felt hollow.

"This is what it’s come to?" I searched her face for something—anything—but all I found was cold detachment. "You really want to cut all ties with me?"

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 108

Celeste’s POVDamien stood there rigidly, his chest rising and falling, his eyes locked on mine. He seemed greatly shocked and hurt, and for a moment, no one said anything. But then, he was suddenly looking past me. At Theo. Then his gaze fell to our joined hands. I would never forget that ferocious fire in his eyes and the way all his muscles hardened as he lost control and stormed toward us with his fists clenched. Theo instinctively rose to block him, not saying a word. They were nearly eye to eye when Damien threw the first punch.“Damien!” I shouted, standing up from the bed. But he didn’t stop. Nor did he seem to hear me. His fist collided with Theo’s jaw, sending him stumbling a step back—but Theo recovered quickly and retaliated. The two of them were grappling now, shoving, swinging, pure rage radiating from both of them.“Stop it!” I screamed, the monitor beside me beeping faster. “Both of you, stop!”Damien wasn’t listening. He shoved Theo hard into the wall, teeth gritte

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 107

Damien’s POVI grabbed the bastard by the collar and slammed him against the concrete wall of the holding room. The chair clattered to the side, and the air between us vibrated with fury.“What the hell did you do to her?” I growled, nose inches from his. “Tell me exactly what you did to Celeste.”Dr. Halbridge’s breath hitched. He raised both palms, shaking. “P-please—Mr. Vaughn—I didn’t mean harm—”“Just tell me what you did to her there!” He stammered, his words crashing over each other. “I-I was just following orders. We had documents. Authorizations. From you!”I slammed him back again, harder this time. His head hit the wall with a dull thud. “Stop lying to me!”“I swear!” he cried. “Everything had your seal. Your name. The Vaughn crest.”My pulse thundered in my ears. I could see her now—Celeste, pale and trembling in that hospital bed, her body reacting to medications she never should’ve had in her system. My hands shook.“You drugged her,” I said with accusation. My heart fe

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 106

Third Person POVViv blinked at her husband, her features stiff with disbelief. “Nathaniel,” she said sharply. “You can’t be serious.”“I’ve never been more serious,” he replied, calm but cold. “Something doesn’t add up.”Michael looked between them, jaw tense. “Dad, that’s—look, I know things are messy, but this theory? It’s too far-fetched.”“Is it?” Nathaniel turned to him. “The girl has the exact same blood type as Genevieve. That could be a coincidence. But the allergy?” He looked at his wife, locking eyes. “Viv, it’s genetic.”Viv flinched. “That doesn’t prove anything. There are hundreds—thousands—of people who could share those traits.”“And yet,” Nathaniel continued, pulling something discreetly from his inner coat pocket, “here we are.”Viv’s breath caught as she stared at what he held—several loose strands of hair, carefully wrapped in a tissue. “What is that?”“She had a brush on her bedside table. When she closed her eyes, I just had to take some samples. I wasn’t going t

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 105

Third Person POVViv Lancaster dabbed beneath her eye with a folded silk handkerchief as she stepped out of the hospital room with her husband. “She’s… not what I expected,” she murmured. “Stronger. Quieter.”Nathaniel gave a small grunt in response, his gaze already scanning the hallway as though mentally filing everything away. But both of them paused when they spotted their son Michael just a few feet down the hall—deep in conversation with the young woman who’d met up with them earlier. Her name’s Harper, I think, Viv remembered silently. Celeste’s best friend. But her eyes narrowed as she watched them seemingly in an argument. The woman stood rigid, arms crossed, expression sharp. The moment was fleeting. In a split-second burst of motion, Harper turned toward the hospital door, pushed it open, and disappeared inside before Michael could stop her—shutting the door firmly behind her.Michael cursed under his breath and rubbed the back of his neck.“Hhmmm,” Viv commented. “That on

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 104

Celeste’s POVThe door creaked open. My breath hitched.Viv Lancaster stepped into the room first, her heels nearly silent against the floor. Nathaniel followed, tall and composed, but visibly uncomfortable. I felt a strange jolt ripple through me, like cold water running down my spine. For a second, I thought I was hallucinating.“What…” My voice came out hoarse. “Why are you here?”Viv’s gaze swept over me, her expression softening in a way I hadn’t expected. Pity. That was the first thing I saw. Not hostility. Not judgment. Just… quiet, aching pity.“We came to apologize,” she said gently. “To see you. If that’s alright.”I didn’t answer right away. My pulse fluttered erratically. Part of me wanted to shout. To scream that they were a little late. The other part—the one curled beneath layers of exhaustion and trauma—simply couldn’t find the strength to fight. So I nodded. Even though I wasn’t entirely sure if they’d really been responsible for covering up Genevieve’s wrong doings.

  • A Ruthless Revenge: the Billionaire's Ex Wife Is Back   CHAPTER 103

Celeste’s POVI woke to the sound of murmured voices. My head throbbed—a dull, pressing ache—and every inch of my body felt like it had been wrung out and left to dry.“Celeste?”I blinked against the light, vision slowly sharpening.Theo sat beside me, elbows resting on his knees, dark circles smudged under his eyes like shadows that refused to leave. Harper was curled up in the corner chair, her hands wrapped around a coffee cup that had likely gone cold.“You’re awake,” Harper breathed, standing immediately to come closer. “Thank God.”Theo leaned in. His hand found mine, warm and solid. “You scared the hell out of us.”I opened my mouth, but only a rasp came out. “Water?”Theo poured from the jug and brought the cup to my lips, his movements gentle. After a few sips, I cleared my throat. “What… happened?”“You were hit by a motorcycle when you pushed Tomas out of the way,” Harper said quietly. “It came out of nowhere.”“The guy had no plates. No ID. It might’ve been—” Theo hesitat
